Lazy Sunday afternoon

Lazy Sunday afternoon, originally uploaded by Alexander De Block.

I've already previously expressed my love for Sundays. I just want to reiterate how much I love this day out of all the other days of the week. When I was in high school, my favorite was Wednesday. In college, it was Friday. And now it's Sunday because:

♥ There's no pressure

I can always bum around on a Sunday and not feel guilty about it. I can sleep all day long or stay in front of the computer without being reproached either by myself or others. I can watch tv almost all day long starting from (my guilty pleasures) variety shows until showbiz/entertainment talk shows. It's perfectly okay to be doing nothing and just laze around.

♥ Of Sunday Lunch Outs

I'm happy that my mommy made Sunday Lunch Outs imperative. At first, I was hesitant of the idea. I thought it was... hmm, I couldn't think of anything. Maybe I was opposing it just because it's her idea. Anyway, that's a whole new different issue altogether. Back to Sunday Lunch Outs... it's a nice way to spend time with the family. We get to try new things together and have these shared experiences every week. Also, we get to eat good food and there's an excuse to binge (on good food, nonetheless).

♥ I get to dress up

Or down. It would really depend on my mood. But every Sunday, I get to wear dresses and other outfit ideas I see in fashion blogs. I am cooped up inside the house almost everyday, wearing pambahay and if ever I do go to the plaza, it's a bit OA to dress up naman. I can dress up on Saturdays but I commute going to class and I reckon it wouldn't be that comfortable. Plus, dresses does not equal public transport. Plus, it's hot. It's only on Sundays that I get to comfortably sit in the passenger seat.

♥ We're closed on Mondays

I don't have to think of work for one whole day. I don't have to check up on things. I don't have to think that I have to be there even just for an hour or two.

Also, I've assigned every Monday as my No Guilt Junk Food Bingeing Day and Movie Day.

"A Sunday well-spent brings a week of content."

Frocker

picnicky

I used to hate dresses and skirts.
I used to think they're too girly.
But then the time came when they're
the only ones that fit...
So I changed my mind.
Now I love skirts & dresses
cos they're so purdy
and it always allows you to eat
a little bit more ;)

eye candies

I want you.
shoes

I need you.
bags

Oh baby, oh baby.

Walang Title

Just finished watching the first episode of The Mentalist. Oh no, I think I found myself another series to get addicted to.

I had nail art done on my nails yesterday. We're offering nail art soon and we're building up our menu of designs the customers could choose from.

Photobucket

Nice, huh?
Our new nail tech knows how to do nail art and so we're taking this as an opportunity to make our "product line" wider. I hope she stays long with us and not be fickle-minded as most nail techs are.

It was my turn to treat last Sunday. We ate lunch at Shakey's in Libis. Cousin Dodoy joined us for lunch. He was here for a two-day vacation and also to celebrate his birthday with us. As usual, missing in action ang mag-asawang Tiu.

After lunch, we had to bring mommy home since she has this renewal of vows with her Legion of Mary group. Then off to MoA we went.

There was this Let's Go Green event in MoA where AB and the org she works for participated in. I took this picture there, inside the Green Home. I applied the Sunshine PW Action on this photo.
Photobucket

After MoA, AD, Dodoy and I went to G4 to watch Sundo. Craptastic. It wasn't scary at all. If I were asked to categorize the movie, I'd put it under Comedy. Even children know that ghosts could pass through walls and stuff. But why oh why do you think your bullets could take care of the ghosts, Robin Padilla? FAIL.

Promise

Game. Seryoso na'ko. Totoo na talaga.

Starting tomorrow, I'll go on a quasi-diet~
No more Coke.
No more sweets overload.
Five spoonfuls of rice, tops.

Well, it mighty gets frustrating when you can't fit into A N Y T H I N G!
Plus, I have to lose weight for my sister's wedding on October.
"Willpower is the ability to eat one salted peanut."
In other words~ kung gusto may paraan, kung ayaw may dahilan.

Lenka Lenka

My latest discovery~ Lenka. I've been listening to her album on repeat! I love her songs and her cutesie-patootsie voice, very catchy. Sort of a feel-good type of music. Her songs make you want to skip instead of walk. Hehe. Reminds me of Sesame Street (kahit Batibot generation ako).

They're comparing her to Regina Spektor but I think her music's more upbeat and less emo. I find Regina Spektor emo. Lenka sounds happy. Listening to her songs makes me giddy and squee with glee...

My three favorite songs from her album are The Show, Knock Knock and Don't Let Me Fall.
I am just a little girl
Lost in the moment
I'm so scared
But don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down
I know
I've got to let it go
And just enjoy the show
-- The Show

Underneath the moon,
Underneath the stars
Heres a little heart for you
Up above the world,
Up above it all
Heres a hand to hold on to
-- Don't Let Me Fall

A warm bath, a good laugh, an old song that you know by heart.
I’ve tried it but they all leave me cold.
So now im here waiting to see you,
my remedy for all that’s been hurting me.

-- Knock Knock

My Sacrifice

Now that the Lenten season has started and I already made the first step by going into confession last week, I vow to make some sacrifices.

Last year, my sacrifice was not to go online on Holy Week. This year, I promise to not drink Coke on Holy Week. It might seem facile to other but for me- a Coke junkie- it sure is hard as hell. We all have our addictions and for me it's drinking too much Coke and surfing the net for loooong hours. I Another sacrifice I'll make is to not watch DVDs and downloaded series/shows on Holy Week. The past years, this was what we did~ have movie and Kdrama marathons. This year, I'll read a book instead.

Anyway, my "sacrifices" for this Lent may be superficial but for me they are a great deal. I live and breathe these vices and quitting them, even for a wee period of time, is torture.

Jon and Kate + 8

Adorable family, don't you think?

I'm watching re-runs of the show on Discovery Travel & Living and I just love it. I feel as if I know them personally and to think that I've been watching it only for a month. The sextuplets are now able to speak and I just love listening to little kids' conversations. Oh to be young and carefree...

I'm a fan of the show and it's sad to read things on the net such as that Jon and Kate may be heading towards splitsville. Noooo! What about the kids?!? It would break their hearts. It would break MY heart. But from watching the show, I somehow do get the impression that Jon is quite overwhelmed by the size of his family. Jon always looks tired. Poor Jon. Poor Kate. Poor kids. I hope the rumors aren't true.

I'm excited to see the kids all grown-up. I hope they do continue airing the show til the twins are into their teens. It would be interesting how Mady would turn out since she's a little bit stubborn. I wonder how Jon and Kate would handle her. I wish Jon and Kate would stay together inspite of and despite all the challenges.

So this is how it works

I discovered this wonderful blog about photography and Photoshop. It somehow made me understand how to work my sister's DSLR camera. Before, I used it like a point-and-shoot and it's always set to Auto mode but now I can proudly say that I understand what the ISO is for and what the aperture does. Though I still have to find out how to adjust the aperture. Baby steps!!!

She also has these sets of actions you can load on the Actions Palette in Photoshop which can do wonders for your pictures in a snap. And the best part is you can download it for free.

En ingles, significa "if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch" or "watch from a distance." Me gusta.

Another one of those tumblr tidbits that I consider as my truth. I love tumblr so much cos it makes me feel that I am not alone in this existential ranting (or raving). But really, I should limit the time I spend on the internet and I need to get my shit together. I think I should post one like this on my monitor so everytime I look into the screen, I will be constantly reminded of the more important things I should be doing instead. Yes, I'll do just that... minus the expletive.

And here's another one just for laughs..

Although I do agree ;) Another tumblr truth...

I couldn't have said it better myself

Lily Allen, you take the words right out of my mouth...

I want to be rich and I want lots of money
I don’t care about clever I don’t care about funny
I want loads of clothes and fuckloads of diamonds

I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore
I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore
When do you think it will all become clear?

GG S02 E18: Age of Dissonance

After weeks of absence, Gossip Girl returns, sadly, without a bang. At least they should've made the story more scandalous than usual just so to keep fans like me coming back. Well, GG has been falling short of my expectations for quite some time now but as a die-hard fan, I'll stick with them through thick and thin.

I can't even believe myself when I got disappointed when I found out GG has a new episode out but Chuck doesn't. That's what their 48-year hiatus did. Out of sight, out of mind. But then again, absence makes the heart grow fonder, riiiight? In this case, I'd say it's more like the former.

Since I am supposedly "clean" since I just got home from confession, I won't be dissing and fault-finding this week's episode. Well, maybe just a few, say... Rachel aka Ms. Carr's outfit.

She's literally popping out of her too-low neckline! This episode just affirms my opinion that girls from the countryside are, ummm, somewhat closet floozies. I am not making a hasty generalization here. The opinion is based from dealing with people who come from the countryside. Anyway, here's another observation~ Dan has a penchant for "poppers."

Just like Serena.

What I loved about this episode is Blair. In my eyes, this girl can do no wrong. Wait... what I mean to say is this girl has been the poster girl for FAIL! but I adore her just the same. She's so pretty~ her hair, her dresses. Yes, her dresses AND her hair. Oh what I would give just so my hair could be just like Blair's.

I am not exactly a Chair fan (I can't believe I just succumbed to stupid name compounding, jeez) but I got a little kilig when Chuck came over at Blair's pad and said he'd wait for her. But as I've said many times over, the universe just isn't on their side.

Akalain mo, buhay pa pala si Carter Baizen?

Taken at Juno's condo's deck

Started the day early cos Juno and I had planned a Chuck marathon. It was originally a Chuck marathon. But because I arrived late, we watched Definitely, Maybe instead.

Normally, I wouldn't really make a huge deal of being late as I arrive almost always late for everything. But today was an exception. I was supposed to get off at the Legarda station where Juno was supposed to pick me up. As I was texting four different persons all at the same time, I lost track of everything and ended up going beyond my destination and got off at the next station instead. So I paid additional P1 for the ticket and still had to buy a P12 ticket for the train ride back to Legarda station. As I was also thinking ahead of time, I also bought in advance a P15 ticket I would use for my ride home later so I could avoid the lenghty lines as I plan to go home during the rush hour.

Good move, right?
No.

I forgot which ticket was P12 and which was P15. I ended up using the P15 ticket for the train going to Legarda. Bummer.

Buti na lang nakabawi :D

Oh why can I relate?

, originally uploaded by many small guesses.

Sabi sakin ng ate ko dati, "Gusto mo yata yung mga hindi ka pinapansin eh."

And when I think about it, I think "yes." I am masochistic like that.

Anyway, now that we're in the subject of... looove, I'll say na rin what I think about Ricky Lee's novel, Para Kay B. Call me a hopeless romantic in love with the idea of love who doesn't agree na dinevastate nito ang 4 out of 5 sa atin. That's positive thinking for you. Boo-ya!

I was scandalized by the book. I really did try to keep an open mind while reading it pero hindi ko talaga kinaya. The first story was so-so and boring in most parts. The second story was just plain SICK. I really cringed at the second story~ it's possible but *blech* it's sick sick siiiiick.

Maybe I could still give the remaining 3 stories a try. Malay mo may magustuhan ako.

Cuteness <3

RPattz's GQ magazine cover is out. In the US. I don't know if it's already out here in the Philippines. And I don't even know if I'm getting a copy. Maybe not. I am not willing to shell out 400+ pesos for a magazine just because a cute guy's face is plastered in front of it. I'll just cross my fingers and hope that there'll be back issues available. I hope the fans aren't as rabid anymore. Nyahaha. Good luck.

Funny how his little intro says Robert Pattinson is here > Hide your daughters! I would not hide my daughters from him. I would hide him from my daughters! I don't want to share. I want him all to myself.

RPattz = Love Love Love
I'm getting tired of KStew's look. They're not bagay. They're like barong and rubber shoes. Haha.

Rooooooooooooooooooob, can I keep you?

Huli man daw at magaling, si Juno makakahabol din :P

Currently enjoying doing nothing and babbling about nothing and everything, trying to compose a coherent blog entry. Trying is the operative word because I don't think I'll be able to write down my thoughts cohesively.

After class, met up with Juno and the Gang for an old school T-party session (we missed you, Ycel). Aissa, Christmas and I were first to arrive at the meeting place. Then Jo. Juno, as I predicted, was last to arrive :P

The birthday girls, Christmas, Juno and Jo, treated Aissa and I to pizza pasta at Brooklyn Pizza. Takaw-mata! We ordered one cream-based pasta, one tomato-based pasta, buffalo wings and one whole pizza. I think we were there for two whole hours and we didn't even finish everything. We were too full that we can't even manage to finish the tiniest portion of pasta left on the plate. Another culprit was the bottomless iced tea. Even after 8 hours after eating, I still feel full. This means, no pizza and pasta for me tomorrow.

Of course, we did what's natural for us to do on T-parties~ to "t." Nuff said. For our safety, I refuse to entrar en pormenores. All I can say is T-parties are fun and "Once you pop, you can't stop." I wish there'll be a repeat soon... like on May-15-soon.

Book 09-03: The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Again, a book recommended by my sister. She said it was a good read, so I gave it a try. If it weren't for her recommendation, I would not even think of picking up this book. I blame it on Mitch Albom's first book, Tuesdays with Morrie. Actually no, I blame it on the people who said it was sooo good because it gave me sky-high expectations for the book. If you think about it, I have to blame myself for having high expectations for the book.

It is a good book. There were good life lessons to be learned from it. Since I am a sucker for quotable quotes about life and love, I enjoyed reading this book.

Apparently when we die, we will get to meet 5 persons who have had a significant effect in our lives. They could be just anyone, even people we don't know. Even the smallest decisions could impact our lives in a big way. There are 5 people you meet in heaven and each have been in your life for a reason. You may have not known the reason at the time, and that is what heaven is for. For understanding your life on earth. Does this mean that we shouldn't try finding meaning in our lives while we're still alive since we're bound to know the reason when we die? I guess we just have to enjoy life as it comes, no? When we try to be profound we would be just wasting time on trying make sense of it all. This is the greatest gift God can give to you: to understand what happened in your life. To have it explained. It is the peace you've been searching for.

Here are some nice snippets from the book:

All endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time.

Every life has one true-love snapshot... He used to think a lot about Marguerite. Not so much now. She was like a wound beneath an old bandage, and he had grown more used to bandage.

There are no random acts. We are all connected. You can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.

It is because the human spirit knows, deep down, that all lives intersect. That death doesn't just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed.

No life is a waste. The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone.

Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves.

People say they "find" love, as if it were an object hidden by a rock. But love takes many forms, and it is never the same for any man and woman. What people find then is a certain love.

I was sad because I didn't do anything with my life. I was nothing. I accomplished nothing. I was lost. I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there.
From all the quotes above, I could relate most with the last. I always felt as if I had accomplished nothing and I am scared that the clock is ticking and I still haven't proved myself. Reading this book has consoled me in a way. It made me think that somehow, the reason why I exist doesn't have to one big, obvious explanation why I am alive. And for that, I will not waste my life sulking why I can't be this or that. Sabi nga sa Slumdog Millionaire, It is written.

Amen.

"The easiest thing to lose something
is to want it too badly..."

- Scrubs

I like this quote. Very emo. But I'm stopping at liking it and don't intend on making this my truth. Well, I would prefer to believe that if you want something too badly, the whole universe will conspire to make it come true. Some say it's being optimistic to a fault but I'd rather be an optimist rather than a pessimist. Of course, being a realist is still better but when it comes to my aspirations and wishes, I would love to think that the universe is on my side if I want it that bad. THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS.

Hmm...maybe I am not wanting it that bad... But I think I want it that bad. Kulang pa siguro.

One of the Boys

My current fixation is Katy Perry. I still haven't listened to all of her songs but I like everything she has already released.

When I first heard the song, I didn't like it right away. I had to listen intently to the lyrics to like it. Again, not that I can relate. I am just in love with the idea of love (or it's loss). My favorite lines out of the song are:

You're like an Indian summer
In the middle of winter

Like a hard candy

With a surprise center

How do I get better

Once I've had the best

She's cute and funny. There was this video she made with Perez Hilton wherein they both danced to Beyonce's Single Ladies. Actually, that was when I realized I liked Katy Perry. And oh, I also like her personal style.

I really wish I could pull off the vintage look.

Soon... I promise myself talaga.

I know I'm really sick

...when I am not even enjoying surfing the net.

I just want to sleep all day and I really hate sleeping. I feel there are far more "important" things I could spend my time on besides sleeping.

Blech.

Movie Madness

3 movies in 2 weeks. Not bad.

You Changed My Life

I can't help but swoon like a fangirl on this one. Like their first movie, I liked it and watched it twice :P

Rom-com is definitely Sarah Geronimo's genre. She's cute and funny but her wig distracts me. Big time. I still can't get over it. Seriously, I want to know if Star Cinema owns a wig business cos they use wigs all the time.

But of course, I ♥ John Lloyd. Cuteness.

Fun movie.

But I was wondering, for someone (Laida) who owns a shoe manufacturing business, why does she wear only one pair of shoes over and over? Take advantage :P

The International

I had free movie passes last Saturday and I just had to use it. Mahal na ang sine ngayon, 'no. Sa Glorietta 4 pa. My original plan was to watch Confessions of a Shopaholic with my ticket but much to my disappointment, they don't have it in G4 anymore. Well, they do have it but they would start showing it at 5pm. Since I had to meet with my classmate at 2:30pm, I would have to settle with what's showing at 12:30~ The Reader or The International.

Obviously, I watched The International. Another plot of good versus evil. I think the movie is very close to reality, if not already happening, which is sad. And the sadder part is they didn't get to resolve this one. Evil triumphed over the good. I hope that would not be the case in reality.

It was okay.Only I got a headache from this one. I guess it was from hearing too much gunshots.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

LOVE LOVE LOVE

After accomplishing my to-do task last Wednesday, I finally watched Confessions of a Shopaholic. AC asked me to buy some stuff for her and as a reward, I could buy myself a mocha frap. Instead of mocha frap, I watched this instead and it was a good decision.

The movie didn't disappoint. Well, maybe because I didn't have any expectations for this movie. I tried not to have any since it deviated a little from the book. They have incorporated Confessions and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan into this single movie, which semi-justifies why it's set New York. And I love Isla Fisher. She's fits the role to a tee. She is Rebecca Bloomwood. Now I can't imagine anyone else who could play Rebecca Bloomwood as well as she did. And oh, Hugh Dancy (Luke Brandon) is perfect as well. And what I said just proved what I wrote a year ago wrong.

Meet Tuks

This is so immature of me but who say's I've matured? My mentality still has a lot of catching up to do with my biology :P

Anyway, Tuks came here a month ago. A month ago, I found her cute and adorable. I love kids and it seems that kids love me back. For the first few days, I took Tuks to the plaza and let her play with the monkey bars, we walked Sunday whenever she begged me to, etc. etc.

Then it happened.

She started talking back to me. Whenever I told her not to do something, she would repeat what I said in a mocking tone. She pushes people. She rolls her eyes on me. And she follows me ALL THE FRICKIN' TIME. So I snapped and snapped her neck like a twig... jk. <Ooops, psychotic tendencies coming out> Basta, she annoys the hell out of me.

Ycel laughed when I told her the 6-year-old kid is manipulative. She is! She would talk to people in a condescending manner, especially to househelps. But when you try to "discipline" her and tell her what she did was wrong, she'd give you her puppy-dog eyes which annoys me even more. When her mom is around, she is an angel but otherwise, she transforms into a 30-year-old brat who tells people "you don't have the right to say that to me. I am the daughter of *tooot*," when she was told by my sister's seamstress not to play with the fabric or something.

Basta. Annoying siya to the nth power.

Finally

...some peace and quiet.

My aunt and her kids stayed here for a little over a month. I am not complaining since I kinda enjoyed tormenting Tooki aka Tuks aka Tukling. However, I missed the solitude and the quietness of every morning... like RIGHT NOW.
