Recreational Therapy: Thirteen Reasons Why

Wow it has been four years since I read the book. Time flies frakkin fast, no? Anyway, I'm writing about the title once again but this time, the mini-series adaptation.

I really like watching a movie based on a book I've read because I like comparing the book versus the film/TV adaptation. The book will always win, imho. Always. Well, because they have five hundred pages to tell the story whereas the movie only has an average of two hours to retell it. So I guess it's better to make them into mini-series rather than movies. Back to Thirteen Reasons Why (13RY)...

The entire duration I was reading the book, I kept thinking how selfish Hannah was. For dumping all of this on Clay. After seeing the series, my opinion of Hannah has changed, but for the worse. I can't remember if in the book the point of view of her parents or if their emotions were illustrated but in the series, you can see (and almost feel) their grief. Not only did she cause Clay this cargo de conciencia (when all he did was not act on his crush towards her), but she also caused her parents tremendous pain.

So yeah, there's this explanation that teenagers' brains are not yet fully developed and they don't see the world yet as adults do which makes them think and do stuff. But did Hannah really think her suicide would solve her parents' financial problems?

I know Hannah is the "victim" in this story but I really found her annoying AF (see what Hannah made me do??? I don't even use that AF term cos it annoys me AF, LOL). I mean, the world doesn't revolve around you, Hannah!!! Why put a blame on Clay for not noticing your existential crisis when he's obviously also going through stuff and busy living his own life?

I do not condone the horrible things the other kids did to Hannah, especially Bryce. However, I also do not condone Hannah's action which was very final and ultimate. I do not get why people have to be so mean. I see people I know posting on Facebook (after watching 13RY) asking the same question when I know for  fact that they are meanies themselves.

source
So I liked the series just as I, hmm... "enjoyed" reading the book. I wish it had ended differently but nope, Hannah killed herself. Which leads me to some of the controversy surrounding this series- that, a) it glamorized suicide and, b) for showing the very graphic suicide scene. Yes, I think it did glamorize suicide and it showed the kids how to do it the right way, I know what the author really wants to say is suicide is not the answer to your problems, that there are people out there who can help you, but for me, as a viewer, I didn't get that message from the series. Maybe it's just me. Because all the frickin' time all I could think of was how selfish Hannah was and not the message of hope, if there's any. And I just can't believe how these kids are so young yet so evil.

I wouldn't recommend this to a teenager. Baka maging "inspiration" pa sa kanya. Remember people, THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

Wanted: Good TV Series To 'Ship Anew

I used to loooooove fall cos it meant my favorite TV series are coming back with a new season. Ah, those were the days. But most of the series I loved so dearly were already canceled or have already concluded. Boo. I don't think I'll be watching Scandal's last season- boring na. And also Bones has become, um, I don't know, it's just that aside from the crime-solving aspect of the show I've had it with the characters' lives's stories. They're now all happy and have settled down- where's the drama? The kilig? Wala na eh.

Ergo, Scream Queens. Just finished watching episode 5 and I'm still undecided whether or not to watch episode 6. A little contrived if you ask me. If ever I decide to continue watching, it's because it sort of reminds me of the whole Gossip Girl dynamics.

The Queen Bee

and her minions
but Chanel Oberlin isn't Blair Waldorf. Blair's minions want to be like her but they don't want to overthrow her. Chanel's minions want to be her as in get rid of her and take her place. But you get what I mean by the Gossip Girl dynamics thing.

And this guy reminds me of Dan Humphrey...

during his curly, feeling-bad-ass days which is not a good thing. Man, why no eye candy?

I think I'm just going to re-watch Gossip Girl, Smallville and Dawson's Creek this production season.

New Series Alert! Outlander

FINALLY! A new TV series I can obsess over ☺

But this is not the first time I've heard of it. Being part of my high school batchmates' book lovers group, I have been introduced to the title. There's this one girl, Anna, who "ships" the book series and was, sort of, cajoling, with a passion, the others to read the book as well (which reminds me of myself when I recommend that other read Rainbow Rowell's Attachments). Eh I am not a fan of romance novels a lá Judith McNaught and there's something about books that look like this~

which makes me snub them. Haha. I tend to like pretty covers (Yes I judge books by their covers) and if they're boring like that of above, ayoko na. Plus, I don't like period dramas/stories because, umm, I just don't. I find them boring and slow. So I DL'd the first episode- willing to give it a try although at the back of my head I thought it would suck and I wouldn't like it. I fell asleep even before the first episode ended. The next day, I was thisclose to deleting the next two episodes. Well, sayang naman download ko so might as well watch it. And boy, was I glad that I gave it a chance☺

Because now here I am gushing about the series. WAAAAAAAAAH!

Of course, the fact that James looks like this also helped

you deserve an extra large image here in my blog, you, sexy thaaaang ;)
Gaaaahd. Major ahjumma moment. Pero in fernez, mas matanda sa akin si koya ng two years. WHATEVER. But seriously, so far so good and I am loving the story. I don't think I'm going to read the books because I don't want to know what's going to happen next. I want to be surprised and delighted.

i know how you feel, kermit
And and and I think Jamie and Clare do love each other as early as now even if they claim they're not and that the love developed eventually. Baaaah. Nobody holds hands and stares at each other like THAT

Like THIS!!!
without being in love. Gaaah, I love you James! Haha. If Clare doesn't want, you can protect me with your badeeeeeh. So, umm, that's just a reference to something that was said on the show and not my own words, mind you. Hahahaha!

So yeah I'm in love with this series and this is how I felt yesterday after watching all eight episodes in two sittings

I notice I have a penchant for time traveling ek-ek. Well, Time Traveler's Wife lang naman and this one. And oh, both female protagonists are named Clare. Grabe I'm such a genius. Haha. Episode 9, please!!!

I Watch Too Much TV: Gilmore Girls Season 1

Just finished watching season 1 of Gilmore Girls and I loved it!

|source|
I remember AC watching the series on Studio 23 but since I'm a little retarded in my choice of TV shows, Gilmore Girls at that time wasn't to my liking. I was already in college at that time pero yung mental age ko then was below 18, haha! Aside from Dawson's Creek and Smallville, I just watched lots of  Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. But when you come to think of it, mas risque pa pala and DC kaysa sa Gilmore Girls. So anyway, I'm so loving Gilmore Girls. I'm on a roll and I going to finish everything before the year ends. It's the perfect companion to all my production work this season.

Lorelai was the original manic pixie dream girl. She was an MPDG even before there was a term for it. That is just my opinion but I strongly believe that she was Zooey Deschanel's predecessor. And in season 1, Alexis Bledel was so nene. Rory's, what, 16? When Blair and Serena were 16, they were getting high, drunk or fornicating. We need more TV characters like Rory for teenage girls to emulate. Even if there were not too much sexy times in Gilmore Girls, I still got kilig over the Dean-Rory-Tristin triangle and the will-they-or-wont-they relationship of Luke and Lorelai. Plus, Lorelai and her mother's bickering is something I can relate to very much.

Oh hey I just realized that Gilmore Girls is the original GG. But to me GG will forever refer to Gossip Girl. Unconditional love, y'all!

So yeah, will go now to continue with my Gilmore Girls marathon ☺

Current Obsession: The Walking Dead

I think I have ADD. Just last week I was obsessing over Beauty & the Beast but this week I am gushing over and truly obsessing over The Walking Dead. The difference with BATB, I have been watching TWD since it first came out, with the exception of the second season wherein I didn't watch until the third season was starting and Fox has this TWD marathon. I guess the first season sort of bored me and I wasn't all that excited for the second one. I blame the disinterest in the lack of a romantic angle. Ha ha. Sorry naman at zombie apocalypse na nga at love story pa rin ang inaatupag ko. So anyway, ever since TWD's third season, I have been hooked but I wait for it on cable, unlike with all the other series I watch which I download. I guess the additional characters were more likable? And of course, here's my favorite character

{source}
Daryl Dixon! Of course I watch the series for all the zombie action but I swear this guy is one of the reasons why I watch it religiously. I love love love his character. He's just quiet, he's small on talk but big on action. And he's not power-hungry, you know. I mean, if he is (like The Governor), he could easily overtake Rick and assume leadership and we know he can but he doesn't which makes him swoon-worthy all the more.

Anyway, forgive me for thinking that Daryl and Beth might be happening. Haha. See, I told you I am dying for a romantic angle to this series. I know there was Rick-Rick's bestfriend- Lori love triangle but I hated that because I am a moralist prude and hate home-wreckers. There also was Glenn and Maggi but I don't know, hindi ako masyado kinilig sa kanila. Maybe I like Daryl + Beth because they are an unlikely pair, don't you think?

{source}
So I've been reading some blogs and articles about TWD (because I am that obsessed with this series right now) and looks like Daryl and Beth aren't happening in a romantic kind of way- what they have, supposedly, is a stronger platonic relationship.

But I can settle with that. It's just that they have chemistry, y'all. And I thought I was the only one who gets kilig over them. Apparently, not. See, hindi naman ako malisyosa. Marami rin namang na-feel ang romantic potential nila. But this isn't over yet and I am super duper excited for the last two episodes, although I am very disappointed with Daryl and Beth's cut-short bonding session. I am heavily emotionally-invested on this series and I realized that on that episode when Hershel was killed. I was crying. Bawling, actually. I am saddened by the diminishing sense of humanity. That's the same reason why I stopped watching Game of Thrones after the first season. I still watch TWD because it gives me hope that there are still some good people left and I'd take them no matter how self-righteous and preachy they are (diba, Rick Grimes?) over the mean ones.

Beth and Daryl got separated last night. Initially I thought Beth got scared and left Daryl alone. But then I realized they got to the house by foot, meaning where the hell did the car come from. Just found out from TWD articles that Beth was abducted. Seriously, I can't fathom the fact that in times of distress such as an zombie apocalypse, there still are people who will take advantage of the situation, take advantage of other people. I mean, can't we just get all along and have a united front against the real enemy- the zombies.

TRUE DAT.
Whatever. I can't wait for the last two episodes. Please not too bitin.

hard habit to break

I'm such an addict for my series. I swear I can spend hours just waiting for that green bar get to 100%. It's actually paralyzing. I mean, there are an awful lot of more productive things I could do than watching my DLs finish. But I love my series. So, ayan.

Speaking of my beloved series, I'm sad that most of them are nearing season-end with only a few episodes left to air and some have actually had their season finale. Good thing Awkward's third season is airing next week! Plus, I could use my US series lull time to catch up on my Korean dramas ;) So anyway, here's a little chuva about the series I follow~

The Carrie Diaries

Gossip Girl's replacement. In the US, TCD took over GG's Monday time slot. For me, it took over my Tuesday morning DL. Honestly, I haven't gotten to finishing GG's final season. It's too painful to watch: painful dahil sa plot na wala nang kwenta; and, painful because it's the end for one of the series I've grown emotionally attached to. Unconditional love nga diba? So anyway, The Carrie Diaries didn't register on me as GG's first season did. I find Carrie and friends annoying.
TCD is actually a Sex and the City spin-off. I never really followed SATC and have never seen a single episode of it, just the movies. I just didn't find it to my liking. I tend to gravitate towards cutesy stuff which I think TCD is cos it is, after all, Carrie circa high school years. Shockingly, in TCD we find out Carrie was some sort of a prude (but not for long). LOL.

One of the things I like about TCD is its kick-ass 80s soundtrack

and Sebastian Kydd. Gaaaahd, the boy is one helluva eye candy.
Fine, his lips may rival Donna Le Donna's but I can fall for that smirk. I like smirky guys LOL. I keep coming back for more of this series for my weekly dose of Sebastian. Me likey so so much ;)

And oh, Maggi reminds me so much of Blair Waldorf
Doesn't she remind you of the Queen Bee? She does, no? But she's not half as witty as Blair is was (RIP GG) and she's actually annoying.

I will definitely be back for the second season mainly because of my smirky boy Sebastian and I also hope for a more interesting storyline.

Hart of Dixie

So Zoe and Wade have broken up. Although I am originally a Zoe+George fan, Wade has grown on me and I eventually appreciated Zoe and him as a couple. Well, I always found their bantering cute. But Wade cheated on Zoe and I was super irked at him for doing so. Zoe gave him a chance to prove himself, but he chose to live to his reputation. Kainez Veneracion.

George may be with Tansy now but I believe that his feelings for Zoe are just tucked away somewhere in there, ready for later access. Tansy is actually nice and likable but I am really rooting for him and Zoe. I just hope he gets into shape soon because he has become kinda pudgy. Not that pudgy is bad because there are guys who are cute when pudgy (JLC!!) but pudgy doesn't agree with George.

Meanwhile, I also like this new Jonah character. I wish he'd make his presence felt more often in Bluebell because I think he's cute and Zoe needs a new boytoy. George is currently off the market, Wade just broke her heart and Lavon will always be only her BFF.

And oh, it's not only me who thinks Rachel Bilson as a heart surgeon is a little hard to believe. What does that say of her? Kawawa naman. Well, I do like her and am a fan. But in this series, I prefer Lemon's fashion sense more.

She always looks polished, so put together and I could only wish to look like that. Even after 36 hours (na walang ligo-ligo ni hilamos), even when her ponytail has come undone, she still manages to look neat. I always look madungis just a few minutes after stepping out of the shower. FML. Lemon's a little uptight which I think I can relate to. Haha.

There are still three to four episodes left until its season finale but I'm going to second-guess and say that I feel Lemon + Wade is going to happen. The bantering almost always lead to something. Plus, they're going to work closely together because of the Rammer Jammer, so yeah I do think they're happening soon.
Sabi ni AC, in the event that my fearless forecast comes true, ayaw na daw niya manuod kasi parang Melrose Place na naman daw. I guess she feels that way because she has always vied for the Wade + Zoe pairing, whereas I always fall victim to cute bantering of characters. Hate isn't the opposite of love, y'know ;)

I'm super excited for Awkward's new season! And it's going to be a full season with 22 episodes :) Huzzah! It's just going to be a little weird that Tamara and Jake are dating (which, I think, Jenna could hold over T's head because T once got mad at Jenna for kissing Ricky Schwartz and Jenna was drunk that time and totally had no control on what's she's doing).

lie to me

The drama had a really, really good start and it got me hooked so bad that I kept on clicking the next episode button. Considering that I watched Lie to Me on online streaming, it must be really really good because I didn't wander off youtube like I always do when doing stuff on a computer. However, when it came to the latter episodes, I wasn't that hot about it and it actually took me several days before watching the series' final two episodes.

My thoughts:
  1. Yoon Eun-hye is an amazing actress and I think she's perfect for roles like Gong Ah-jeong. Although I don't like her as Yoon Eun-hye the celebrity because I think she's maarte, I like her as an actress and think that she plays her roles very well. Yes, all her roles are almost the same but if that's what she does best, why not? She also reminds me of my friend from high school.
  2. But Lie to Me reminded me so much of Lovers in Paris. Ki-joon (Kang Ji-hwan) reminded me of Ki-joo (see, even their names were similar) with his no-nonsense approach to things and his perfectionist ways, Ah-jeong reminded me of Tae-young with her cheerful and pleasant attitude towards things, Sang-hee reminded me of Soo-hyuk with their artsy fartsy form. The angle of two brothers being in love with the same girl.
  3. Which may have come to the attention of the writers or producers or whoever of the series so they tried to change the course of the story, hence the less than stellar ending. Sang-hee gave up on Ah-jeong just like that. Wala man lang cry-cry.
  4. After they resolved the lie that they weren't really married, the title of the series has lost its relevance to the story. Lie to Me nga tapos wala nang lie? Like in Lovers in Paris, they met in Paris but the majority of the story happened in Korea but the culmination was still in Paris. They could have thought of one more lie that could have made the ending more dramatic. Just thought it was a little anti-climactic.
  5. But what made me stick through it was the chemistry between Kang Ji-hwan ang Yoon Eun-hye! I literally was feeling it on my fingers and toes- giddiness galore! I forgot the other kilig scenes but here's one I remember because it's one of the more recent scenes I watched- Ah-jeong wanted Ki-joon to go home already but Ki-joon didn't want to...
Ki-joon laid his head on Ah-jeong's lap...
Ah-jeong: Hurry get up!
Ki-joon: Don't want to
AJ: Your head is heavy
GJ: Because my brain is full of Gong Ah-jeong

I DIE.
But who cares even if it was anti-climactic? It was heavily laden with kilig scenes and all I could do is squee with glee and be giddy and think if these stuff happen in real life. But no, I am not expecting for someone to sweep me off my feet and love me forever and ever because if there's one area of my life where I'm keeping my expectations low, this is it.

secret garden

kdrama’s making a comeback, well at least in my life. i used to be a korean series addict- winter sonata being my first kdrama series ever. I stopped watching when I couldn’t find good ones anymore. the first wave of hallyu actors such as won bin, kim ha-neul, kwon wang soo, etc were getting less visible and I just don’t get the appeal of the new generation with their plucked brows and metrosexual style. plus, the last few dramas i saw were disappointing. so I stopped. but the batch of hallyu actors I am fond of is staging a comeback so now i rekindle my love relationship with kdramas.

after cinderella’s sister, I was in search of another nice series. my princess was in my list but since its subtitles are still incomprehensible, pass muna ako. AC’s officemate recommended that we watch secret garden and even gave us a copy. so watch it was what I did.

{source}
my thoughts about secret garden:

  1. old-school korean actors- hyun bin and ha ji-won. although all the while I thought it was kim ha-neul haha. it’s such a comfort to see familiar faces ;) well, hyun bin isn’t as cute as he was five years ago and I reckon he’s a too skinny now, but he’s still cute. not as cute but still cute. ha ji-won still looked like how she looked like five years ago, though I prefer her with long hair.
  2. huge doses of kilig factor- oh yes I live for this. I must have smiled, giggled and squirmed in my seat countless of times over countless kilig moments as if it were happening to me. piggy back rides. benches. staples of korean love stories. kahit paulit-ulit, parang hindi ko pagsasawaan.
  3. oska. I have a love-hate relationship with this character. he’s funny and he’s nice to gil ra im but I really can’t stand his wardrobe. and that hairstyle, omg. an almost fallen star finding a way to make himself big again who’s at the same time nursing a broken heart. this reminds me that you can't really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them.
  4. what’s up with the action school director’s hair? haha. he’s cute when his hair is in a ponytail but when it’s just buhaghag, he just looks like a crazy homeless person. one thing I don’t get from these dramas- director kim has been harboring more than just platonic love for ra-im, even before joo won got in to the picture, so why only now? time is of the essence, people! haven’t we learned our lesson from p’shone (sing lek lek/crazy little thing called love) yet?
  5. hyun bin’s character, joo won, showed us the meaning of persistent. or in tagalog- makulit. as in super kulit. pasalamat siya at cute siya kasi kung hindi, nakakatakot. with his sequined tracksuit, he pursues ra-im to no end, going wherever she goes and this he can do because he has the means to do so. a little childish but very, very cute. but come to think of it, if you encounter a 34-year old guy like that in real life, cute pa rin kaya?
  6. the soul-swapping angle of the series was made the main plot, although I think they could do without it. it would still have been a nice drama without the swap. well, maybe they included it there so both characters would better understand each other. and come to think of it, it was pretty handy for ra-im. at least she wouldn’t have to prove to joo won that his mother is trying to tear them apart.
  7. and yes there’s also amnesia. who would’ve thunk, right? but but but this even made it more nakakakilig cos joo won still liked ra-im even if he thinks his 21-year old self wouldn’t like a girl like ra-im. I don’t think I am even making sense but I hope you get what I’m saying.
  8. lola kisses! joo won kept on doing this all throughout the drama. i get giddy over lola kisses all the time.
  9. notice how their worlds seems to be so small? their lives are interconnected, parang facebook lang and they seem to know all the right people. parang destiny lang… haha. yes, I think this drama is all about destiny and all that shizz. joo won and ra-im were meant to be together. if they hadn’t met back then, they surely would meet each other some other time. personally, I don’t believe that there’s one person destined for us but I believe that if something’s for us, it would find our way to us or we would find our way to it eventually.
  10. ending was a little anti-climactic but I loved it just the same. and they gave me an ending and didn’t leave me hanging as with other dramas ;) a little sad that joo won’s mother still didn’t accept their union.
oh yes I really really really enjoyed watching  secret garden. giddiness galore, just what I like and what I live for- just vicariously albeit. next drama in my list is my girlfriend is a gumiho. I wish it wouldn’t disappoint cos I’ve read good reviews about it but then again I should remember not to set my expectations too high.

Personal Taste/ Personal Preference

Finally finished this kdrama I've been waiting for since February this year. With Son Ye-jin (The Classic, A Moment to Remember) and Lee Min-ho (Boys Over Flowers) as the leads, I reckon this drama is not one to miss out on. And being a Son Ye-jin fan, it's been so long since I saw her in a movie or a drama; I knew I had to see this.

Started out really strong with all those cutesie-patootsie plots but I was a bit disappointed with it towards the end, because: 1) the subtitles were incomprehensible starting the 14th episode, I think; and 2) there they go again with their urong-sulong eklavu. I mean, if you love each other and you both know it, then what's holding you back? Supposedly, if it was all a misunderstanding and you really had a good explanation for it, then what's the problem? Nakaka-frustrate lang kasi. Why suffer when you clearly had the chance to make it right?

I miss Korean series and movies from five years ago... They don't make it now like they used to. No more dramas as spectacular as Winter Sonata, Phoenix and Goong. No more hunky, cutie patootie boys like Won Bin. Hallyu is dead.Though I'm still glad Korean series/movies staples are still alive, such as:

piggy back rides

 and benches

Now watching Smile, You. Actors are relatively unknown to me but very promising, haha. So far, so good. Funny naman though I think I know how it's going to end.

Chuck Attack!

This is way loooong overdue. It has been three weeks since Chuck first aired its first episode for the season and I must say that they didn't disappoint because 1) first episode was 2-hour long, 2) it's a back-to-back thingamajig meaning episode 3 aired Monday night right after Sunday's season premiere, and 3) it's a kick-ass, superb episode just as I remember it to be only more, in Devon's words, AWESOME!

S03 E01: Chuck Versus the Pink Slip

I thought all Chuck ever wanted was a real relationship with someone but then again he dumps Sarah for chance to become a real-life spy. Clearly, he has changed his mind when we refused to run away with Sarah and live anonymously somewhere else where they can have their happily ever after. Sarah was ready to leave it all behind but then Chuck bails out on her and this has left Sarah brokenhearted. Argh. This frustrates me big time. But then again they have to find ways to prolong this Chuck + Sarah convoluted love story.

The updated intersect in Chuck's head made him not only the most relevant info bank but also a lean, mean fighting machine. All he has to do is "flash" and voila! he can kung fu the living daylights out of anyone. And albeit his newfound karate chops that can make him into a certified cool dude, he still is a dork at heart and I so adore him for that. Chuck looks good in a suit but I prefer him in his Buy More uniform.

S03 E02: Chuck Versus the Three Words

...there is no pause-button in life. So when did Morgan begin to make sense and be wisdom-y about life. Was Hawaii his some kind of ashram that he transformed into this person who suddenly makes sense? Nevertheless, I still love Morgan. Kahit hindi na siya yung sabog-type, he's still Morgan-y which is, believe it or not, cute.

This cha-cha of love between Chuck and Sarah is really frustrating but cute and I don't think I'm going to get sick of it anytime soon. It is after all my favorite of all story angles in this series.

Karina, Sarah's best friend in the spy industry, plays a key role in Chuck's first mission as an official spy. Also from her prying into Sarah's private life, I learned that Sarah's kinda took it hard when Chuck refused her proposition. Sarah even considered being taken out of the mission (protecting Chuck) since it seems to be that their feelings for each other has become a liability to both of them. But we know they're not going to do just that. Sarah is an integral part of this story. Argh. Again, this is so frustrating.

S03 E03: Chuck Versus the Angel de la Muerte

Captain Awesome aka Devon meddles into spy matters, compromising the team's mission and also compromising his and Elie's safety. Devon so much wants more excitement in his life and puts his foot on serious affairs like CIA missions and whatnots. But then he realizes that all that adrenaline-rush isn't worth what he might be putting on the line.

If I were writing this right after I first watched this episode, I would be panicking like crazy right now, worrying what could have happened to Devon but because I've seen the episode right after it, I'm perfectly calm. But during that time, I was like, "NOOOO!! YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO CAPT. AWESOME!!!"

S03 E04: Chuck Versus Operation Awesome

And I'm right, they can't do that to Capt. Awesome because he's just too, wait for it~ Awesome! Ibang series ata ito, haha. Anyhoo, this season's Fulcrum is called The Ring. Galing ha, naubos nila ang lahi ng Fulcrum. Going back... the Ring has mistaken Devon for Chuck and now he has to what Sydney Prince (Angie Harmon) instructs him to do or else he'll be dead meat. And that could be dangerous since Devon is not equipped with an intersect in his head.

Brandon Routh guest stars as Daniel Shaw in this episode and I guess in a few more episodes. Oooh nice, eye candy alert! And there's some air of mystery that surrounds our eye candy.

And in this episode, I finally know who Lester reminds me of~ HIM, one of the villains in Powerpuff Girls.

Bahaha!

S03 E05: Chuck Versus the First Class

Morgan becomes Emmett-like when he assumed Assistant Manager position in the Buy More. As a result, all the other nerd herds, et. al. are against his leadership. This version of Morgan is not that bad but I kinda missed sabog Morgan.

Chuck is deployed to do his first solo mission, meaning sans Sarah and Casey. If this were to happen during the last two episodes, it would be suicide but now that Chuck can flash on different fighting styles, no worries actually. Well of course he's still some kind of a doofus and clumsy and could flub this operation by himself. But all in all, I'd say Chuck can pull through this one.

And Lana Lang Kristin Kreuk guests stars as Hannah, a prospect girlfriend for Chuck. YAY! She's so pretty I swear, and since I miss Smallville, Kristin Kreuk is an effective alternative. I am hoping she'll be there for a looooong period of time like until the end of the season and I am fervently hoping that she's not some kind of a Ring agent because that would be such a bummer, I tell you.

Shaw (Routh) grills Sarah regarding his feelings for him. Sean thinks she followed Chuck in Portugal so as to protect him. Sarah told him she was there to bury Bryce. But if you ask me, I think she was there because she made plans to run away with Chuck. The air of mystery surrounding our eye candy has been busted and he grills Sarah like that because he sensed that there's something between her and Chuck and he can relate with what's going on between the two. That, or he's into Sarah. Oh I don't know.

Anyway, Sarah is still nursing a broken heart and I am dying how she would be able to take the Chuck + Hannah thing once she finds out about it. Really hoping here Hannah is not a Ring agent.

Once you pop, you can't stop: T V edition

I watch too much TV. Obviously. And I even have time to go through them, well, at least those that I love sooo much. What's keeping me busy nowadays is the slew of new seasons of US series and new telenovelas here in the local TV scene. I love watching TV but I am a chronic channel surfer. Usually, I'd end up not finishing a TV program because I forgot to turn it back to that channel after I channel surfed for a wee bit when the commercials were on. Only TMZ can hold my attention for that long, or whenever my sister's watching TV with me. Anyway, here's my take on the series and telenovelas I've been watching although not on a regular basis.

Local Telenovelas

Tayong Dalawa
I loved this telenovela before and tried to watch it religiously. Aside from Jake Cuenca, the primary reason why I wanted to watch it, I thought the story was good. But that was before Kim Chiu's character, Audrey, started acting all SM aka simpleng malandi. If you're causing that much trouble and heartbreak to one family you should know better than to stay in their lives. I wanted her dead. And the writers didn't disappoint me. >insert evil laugh here< Almost everyone I know hated Audrey. Good riddance, I say. Tonight is the Tayong Dalawa's finale and I am not very keen on watching it. They should've ended it eons ago, before the plot went all crazy. Nung gumulo na lahat at sobrang gusto ko na sipain si Audrey sa mukha, and natitirang consuelo na lang ay ang makita si Coco Martin, five times a week.

Stairway to Heaven
Our household is Kapamilya. Not that I am actually one because I just watch whatever is good on TV or whatever my mommy's watching (which is Channel 2, ALL THE TIME, except on Sundays when she watches Sunday TV Mass on other channels). I don't have issues naman with watching this show which happens to belong to the rival channel kasi hindi naman ako die-hard fan ng Ch2. I just want to watch it so I could compare it to the original one. I think Rhian Ramos is perfect for the role of Han Jeong-soo (or more popularly known here as Jodi), but I really don't like Dingdong Dantes as Cha Song-joo (or Cholo). But I have yet to watch it to be able to judge it. I've seen only the episodes with their kid versions so I need to tune in to this next week.

Katorse
I've seen only two or three episodes of this series pero in fairness, I think I might want to keep watching it because Nene's kalandian and/or katangahan is entertaining.
Nene's mother either needs to tell her daughter to stop wearing too tight clothes or buy her a bigger bra.

Lovers in Paris
As with Stairway to Heaven, just want to watch this one to compare it with the original. I was excited when I found out they're going to make a local version of this Korean series but got disappointed when I found out KC Concepcion will play Kang Tae-young and Piolo Pascual as Han Ki-joo. For me kasi, they should have not gotten someone as good-looking as KC to play Tae-young kasi hindi naman maganda si Kim Jung-eun (who originally played Tae-young's character). In my opinion, it wouldn't be hard to get attracted to Tae-young if she's as pretty as KC, right? The only actor I think who was spot on with the original character is Zanjoe. Tall, handsome and madumi. Hindi naman yung taong-grasang tipo ng madumi. He looks... rugged. Ayun, that's the term I'm looking for. He looks rugged just like Lee Dong-gun.

Lovers in Paris airing on Monday na.

American series

Aside from Gossip Girl and Glee, here are the other series that keeps me busy whenever I am not busy.

How I Met Your Mother
Done with Season 3 and have to yet meet up with Ycel so I can get my copy she made for me. This is very, very funny and because each episode lasts only 20 minutes, not dragging at all.

I'm still in love with Ted Mosby. I still think that Lily and Marshall make the sweetest couple ever. I'm still hoping that Robin and Ted would get back together but I think Barney has a thing for Robin. I heard on the radio that Barney's going for Robin on the fifth season but I don't want to know anything unless I've seen the 4th one.

Pushing Daisies
I don't know why but this series always puts me to sleep. Maganda naman siya and I enjoy watching it. I also like it every time Olive breaks into a song. I love Olive. Every girl who is harboring some kind of secret crush towards any boy can relate to her.

Olive Snook- Hopelessly Devoted to You

Olive Snook- Eternal Flame

10 Things I Hate About You
I'm watching this because I loved the movie. Although I think that the movie is still sooo much better, okay naman siya. No one can do Kat Stratford like Julia Stiles and Larisa Oleynik is still the most perfect Bianca Stratford. And Heath Ledger still kicks Ethan Peck's ass being Patrick Verona.

So far, everything that's been happening is still based from the original movie and I really can't help it but compare. I want to see what they would do to the latter episodes when they start making their own storyline. Too much blabbing about nothing relevant so I guess I should end this and on that note, I'm ending this with my favorite scene from the series' latest episode~
