awkward s02 e12: the other shoe

SEASON FINALE!!! So sad that it's already season 2's last episode. I'd have to wait for 9 months for the third one (which is a 24-episode season, ya'll!). Thank goodness I have my other series premiering in the coming weeks to keep me distracted.

SUPER BITIN!

So anyway, Jenna picks Matty over Jake which is perfect because I think Jake has gotten a little boring. Maybe Jake's appeal in the past was he was with Lissa- you know what they say... we always want what we can't have

School year's almost over and the Sophomore class is going to a trip in Europe. Val bullies Jenna's parents into letting Jenna go on (and pay for) the trip which isn't exactly how Jenna planned to spend her summer vacation. She and Matty already planned on going to camp again where Matty will be head counselor. But Jenna feels that Europe will be an experience but at the same time, she wants to be with Matty over summer break. I really think Jenna's decision not to go to Europe stems from the fact that she is afraid that Matty might find another girl. That wasn't said but I guess why would she forego Europe? It's Europe, for crying out loud! Yes, I loooove Jenna + Matty and they really look cute together but come on, they shouldn't let their relationship hinder them from doing and experiencing new things even if it not together.

They really look good together! I get butterflies in my stomach when it's their scene together, haha. But still {uh oh, here comes the prude in me} Jenna's parents walks in on them making out INSIDE JENNA'S BEDROOM and they're not even shocked about it. I'm just shocked that some parents are okay about things like this.

We all know that Sadie and Ricky were sort of a couple but now, Ricky's moving on to his next conquest leaving Sadie distraught. Who knew Sadie would be so clingy to Ricky, no? But that is not the most surprising twist of our season finale. It is... drumroll please...

Tamara and Jake! Who knew??? And what's weird (okay, it's not that weird) is that Jenna seemed a little jealous. Maybe she still feels territorial over Jake and Tamara is one of her BFFs. Let's see where this angle is going next season.

So am I happy that Jenna chose Matty? YES.

Yes, I was conflicted (naks, feeling Jenna) before on whose team I was, but after a few episodes I realized I really want Matty. As I've mentioned before, Jake was a little boring. Jenna's life right now seems to be mirroring her mother's and I really hope this will not end like another one of MTV's show- 16 and Pregnant. Ha. Anyway, it was always fun watching this series. I swear, why is an episode only 20-minutes long???

This is not yet the end of it. I predict more of the Matty-Jenna-Jake triangle. We'll know in nine months. Argh. Torture.

awkward s02 e11: once upon a blog

Last episode, Jenna makes the existence of her blog known to the whole school population. She did it to, hopefully, win Jake back but unfortunately it backfired. Matty and Jake wanted her to choose between them but she doesn't know to approach the topic and resolve her dilemma, so she results to what she thinks she does best in times like this- blogging.

But instead of blogging about her real-life drama, she tried fictionalizing their love triangle.

Obviously, Twilight and peg.

But her fictionalized take on her complicated relationship with Jake and Matty were boring her readers. They want the real dish on the situation. Next, she tries to envision a what-might-have-been scenario had she done things differently. In the do-over, Matty brings their relationship out in the open which eventually made her pals with Sadie which eventually turns her into a raging bitch. Think Cady Heron in Mean Girls

Another version of a do-over is she was with Jake. Jake realizes she not that into Jenna so he dumps her so Jenna pretends she's pregnant to get Jake back only she really was pregnant.

In the end, Jenna just decides to keep her blog private again.

perfect weekend

Had a perfect weekend even though I was sick and suffering from a painful sore throat.

AC scored complimentary tickets to Phantom of the Opera, parterre box pa =) We were about 30 minutes late (because we left the house at 2 and the play was at 3pm) but we were able to get into the flow of the story~ it is about the phantom of the opera. Duh. Haha.

My thoughts:
1. Our seats were perfect~ we had impeccable, unobstructed view of the stage.
2. It was surreal hearing All I Ask of You sung live. My uncle would bring home playbills of stage plays he saw in Broadway and I think that was sort of my introduction to Broadway plays. I remember singing the song, totally ignorant of the lyrics so I'd make up my own~ "say you love me and I'll say I love you..." Surreal.
3. I didn't understand their dialogues. I think I do understand the English language naman but you know how operatic singers sing, so their dialogues were unclear to me. And when two or more characters speak simultaneously, I stop listening and trying to make sense of what they're saying. I just watch what's going on in the stage.
4. Remember that Anne Curtis and Ai Ai movie where Eugene Domingo plays Anne's yaya? Every time I hear the name "Christine," I am reminded of her, fake Aussie accent and all. Haha.
5. Masyadong mabagal ang pag-drop ng chandelier.
After the play, scampered off to Megamall to meet with HS friends- A and Z. The last time I saw Z was six years ago. She was one of my closest friends and also my bus mate, so we were together almost all the time. But due to schedule constraints (and maybe lack of communication na din), we got to meet again only last Saturday, after a bazillion years.

It was fun catching up with friends and still feeling comfortable in their company even after years of minimal communication. It's as if we spent no time apart. We just picked up where we left off six years ago. Chikahan over pizza margherita, pasta and fried mozzarella. Continuation of chikahan at Gong Cha. We parted ways before 11pm- another SOA (signs of aging), a recurring term for the night as we were joking about how old we are now.

Sunday Lunch Out without the V and the kids. We didn't have anything planned out for the day. AC just suggested an eat-all-you-can at either Tong Yang or Yakimix. Haven't tried both so I'm game for any of the two. Originally, we were supposed to do Tong Yang Megamall but parking was horrible so we decided to go all the way to the one in Centris in Quezon Ave.

Once seated, we didn't waste any time. Attack! Haha. I've tried the shabu shabu thing before, but the grill thing not yet so I was a little excited about the grill. In fernez, it was okay. Nothing spectacular. I'm never good with experimenting with my food so I guess shabu shabu style isn't really for me. Plus, I do not get my money's worth with eat-all-you-can's. Hindi lang masyado obvious pero mahina ako kumain. My favorite from last Sunday's buffet was their mango juice.

So back to "healthy" eating this week. I will stop from the herbal medication for the meantime because our SG trip is just a week away and will be indulging myself during the trip. Walang bawal bawal. Wee!

here's hoping i feel better tomorrow

Not feeling very well since this week started, since I started with my herbal medication. I was told that on the first few days I won't be feeling well, maybe because the body is still adjusting to the effects of the 'potion.' I don't know if sleepiness is also a side effect.

And in another news... it's been a week since I turned 30. Wala lang. I just want to share. I just remembered a while ago when I was watching Who The @#$% Did I Marry on Discovery Channel. I remember one week ago I was also watching that show while rushing an order which made me late to my own birthday dinner. For 300 frickin' pesos. But got everything done in an hour so kerikeri na rin.

And the good news~ nabuhay ang namatay ko nang PC. Zombie lang ang peg. My sister's PC technician came over and tried to resuscitate my 7-year old computer and it was a SUCCESS! Guess I could further delay that laptop purchase, eh? And guess what- it has service pack 3, Microsoft Office 2010 and Photoshop CS5. Hindi ko inakalang kaya ng aking 7-year old PC ang ganung programs, ni hindi ko nga mainstallan ng Service pack 2 yan dati. Oh well. Now it's working like a charm :)

Off to bed now. Am being a good girl and just following Mang Kepweng's (Chinese doctor, hehe) orders. Toodles

i say goodbye to life

Fun, food-filled life, that is. Went to a Chinese medicine doctor last Saturday and he told me what I already know (but he didn't). I thought I only have to avoid carbs and control my sweets intake. Turns out, it is so much worse than that. These are the stuff I should abstain from:
  • eel, beef, chicken, pigeon, turkey, geese
  • crabs, shrimps, lobsters
  • eggs
  • salty, spicy, hot & sour foods
  • fried, greasy, grilled/barbecued dishes
  • all kinds of sweets
  • liquor, cigarettes, coffee
  • sleeping late at night
  • strenuous activities, lifting heavy loads
Tragic, no? Almost all are my favorite foods, especially sour foods, grilled/barbecued food and sweets!

ang reseta ko. authentic na authentic.
I am in treatment for 3 days where I have to drink this tea derived from boiled herbs and for three days I can't eat any of the above, but I still have this SG trip with my friends at month's end so I guess hindi ko pa itotodo na strict diet. Moderation is key.

my stash.
I'm not a tea drinker so it's a bit of torture for me to drink authentic (hindi milk tea :P) bitter hot tea. And I just found out today that my stash has insects in it. >oo< I didn't know but my help had to point it out to me this morning. Oh well.

So there, changing my lifestyle already. Trying to sleep early na din, trying being the operative word. But actually all my conditions are caused by my weight problem so I guess I really have to lose weight for real. Life...

yo shawty it's my birthday ♥

So we've gotten over and done with the day I turned into a legit old person. To tell you the truth, it doesn't feel different. I don't feel different.

Anyway, I did have a good day- nothing spectacular, just your good, ol' regular day but better because it was my day and people were doing things for me. Dinuguan that was being cooked was for me, V drove for me, mommy bought cake for me. In other words, being selfish on this day was excusable. Actually, it was a pretty busy day. I ran errands in the morning then some more errands in the afternoon. Maybe the only shitty thing that happened was this client who ordered tags from me. My printing services provider texted me that morning that my labels and tags aren't available for pick up because their machine broke down. I texted the customer if I could deliver the next day, but she seemed exasperated by the fact and even canceled her order. Basta, to cut the story short, I just looked for another printer just so I could deliver. Bad trip lang pero of course I didn't let her ruin my day. Happy pa rin ang birthday ko :)

We had dinuguan (my favorite!), spaghetti, grilled liempo, ensaladang ampalaya, pansit malabon and for my birthday cake- Mango Bravo from Conti's, a deviation from my usual Swiss Choco Cake.

one candle for every decade
Super busog! My only guests were my two aunts and cousins. My aunts gave me Rustan's gift certificate and cash with which I bought this~

This is love ♥ I was skeptic at first but after three hours of strolling around the mall and coffee, I decided to buy. Look what it did to my nail

It's so shiny ♥ I love it!

Their nail buffer comes with a lifetime warranty so I can replace it anytime with a new one. I just hope that they'd last 50 more years of business para sulit talaga ang aking nail buff, no! And the kit also comes with a nail file, cuticle oil and hand lotion. I swear I'm so in love with my shiny nails- they look so class, haha. And to think they were all yellowish after wearing my nails like this:

tried my hand at water-marbling my nails. isa siyang malaking FAIL.
And oh, AD treated me to lunch last Friday ☺ She was supposed to treat me to this Thai restaurant in Greenbelt but since she wasn't able to go to work due to indigestion from all the food she ate the night before, we just went to Eastwood and had this

Porkchop and bakes potatoes and roka salata! ♥ Bliss it is. Mocha frap afterwards with Belgian waffle with strawberry syrup. At siempre puro food na naman ang highlights ng araw ko #thisiswhyimfat

wish list for my 30th

Keeping my expectations low this year although this is sort of a milestone year for me- I just want daddy's dinuguan and maybe Mango Bravo from Conti's. But of course I still can't do without my annual wish list. I already got myself a calculator with receipt output, so we can leave that off the list this year ☺

♥ WISH LIST 2012 ♥
1.Tresemmé shampoo and conditioner. And so the obsession with my tresses ensues.
2. Seche Vite top coat.

3.  Birkenstocks Madrid in Rose Wine Birko. I remember buying my first (and only) pair eight years ago when it still cost P2,500. Now it's 1,000 pesos more expensive. Pero in fernez, I did get my money's worth. It lasted me around 4 years, with almost everyday use. I think of buying my second pair sometime soon

 4. K-Palette Eyebrow chuva. But the obsession over my eyebrows is far greater... Saw this while perusing the shelves of Beauty Bar. I know, I know... I still have a bazillion other eyebrow thingamajigs here but this one is supposed to be waterproof and smudge-proof which means I won't have to worry about the case of my disappearing brows amidst sweaty or rainy days or sisters who bully me and erase my penciled brows on purpose :P

 5. LAPTOP! This is actually more or a NEED than a want. If my sister follows her schedule of moving out to their new house, I will be without a computer by the end of the month. I need this for making labels, updating records and researching on the internet. My budget is only 30K. Personally, I feel that's a big amount to spend but I guess I need it for my hanepbuhay so justifiable. Although what's sad is that amount won't get me a laptop with kick-ass specs.

That's it pansit. Shorter list this year, diba? And mostly pangkaartehan. Haha. Naman, dapat 15 years ago nagsimulang lumandi no! But really, I'm so content with my life now. Of course there are a bazillion things I still want and need to do, see and experience but in general, I am happy ☺

do you remember

It's...

my favorite month after December ♥

Of course, I'm biased. Tee hee.

Anyway, I'm just optimistic about everything at wala nang kokontra, okay? Thing's aren't exactly coming up roses but since I've started with production and have less idle time, I can't focus my energy and attention on worrying about everything and anything. In other words, walang time ang pagkapraning.

There are three reasons why I ♥ September:
  1. it is my birth month. i don't really get much gifts now as when i was much younger but still  those few presents still bring out the little kid in me. i love surprises!
  2. it's almost Christmas! Christmas is my favorite holiday and we know why that needs no explanation. here in the country, September pa lang we could hear xmas songs playing in the malls, radio and they'd start selling Christmas trees and decors in department stores and divisoria and i tell you, i get all giddy over the scent of tinsels.
  3. new season for the tv series i follow. one less series to watch for- Chuck, but there are still my other series. unfortunately pala, the new seasons of Hart of Dixie and Gossip Girl   will be premiering on October pa, prolonging the agony of waiting. but i still have How I Met Your Mother (Sept 24), Bones (Sept 17), 2 Broke Girls (Sept 24), Revenge (Sept 30) and New Girl (Sept 25). Suburgatory also premieres on October.
But still I'm saddened by the fact that I won't be seeing Chuck, Sarah and Casey this year. That's one show I loved unconditionally and have never thought of giving up on. Gossip Girl I love unconditionally also but there were times when I thought of quitting it- if it were not for Blair Waldorf and her wardrobe, I would've stopped watching it already. Out of all the abovementioned shows, I'm most excited about Hart of Dixie and Suburgatory.

So anyway, it's my birthday soon!!! I still don't know what I'm doing on the day itself. AD promised to date me for lunch but on the day after my birthday. Hmm... I still don't know what my plans are for the day but I'm sure I want my daddy's dinuguan for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
