I really need to lose weight. Ya! Kasi I was sitting on my sister's bed earlier today. I caught my reflection in the mirror right across where I was sitting. And that's when I saw and realized the ugly truth: I LOOK LIKE A BLOB! As in something similar to that green slimy thingy in one of those Star Wars movies. May paa lang ako.

But I'm not yet ready to go on a diet. I was not ready three years ago and still not ready today. Kelan kaya ako magiging ready? I know I should but... haaay... aside from that, I also need to go for a check-up. I went with my sister to her suking bulag na masahista in Star Mall. I waited for her while she had that 1-hour massage. That was when I saw this reflexology chart on the wall. In reflexology, areas of the foot and sole (of the foot) correspond to parts and organs of the body. Recently, my feet were always aching especially some specific areas like the heel, the area just below the ankle and the area where your foot and your leg meet. I looked it up in the illustration and these parts supposedly mean that I might have something wrong with my ovaries, fallopian tubes, sciatic nerve. Ayun. Katakot.

i don't wanna wait

Browsing youtube videos online...
I came across these old Dawson's Creek's montages. I miss Dawson's Creek (DC).

From the time I saw the dock near Dawson's house, I knew I wanted my house to be located near a dock. Aba'y gusto ko rin magpaka-girl across the lake. Haha. But seriously, when I have my own family and own house, I want a house near a dock. Ewan ko... parang masarap lang magmuni-muni sa ganitong lugar, magbalik-tanaw sa nakaraan. chos. Sabi nga sa radyo, kapag nadadalas na ang pagre-reminisce, tumatanda ka na! Ouch. Tinamaan ako doon.

Back to DC... I was a fan but I never got too finish watching the series. I bought videos of Seasons 1, 2 and 3 but I got to watch only up to the mid of season 2. And I think I was able to watch seasons 1, 2 and 3. It was the latter seasons that I wasn't able to watch since at the time that they were aired, I was attending college and couldn't make it home in time for DC. But I know that it was Pacey and Joey who'll end up together in the end... just how I like it. I never really liked Dawson. Apart from the reason na mukha siyang paa, napaka-selfish niya pa. Well, I never really liked Joey, too. My favorite characters were Pacey and Jen- affirming Armida's observation that I tend to like the anti-hero characters in a story. But even if I totally disliked Katie Holmes and her character, Joey, I'm giddy over the Pacey-Joey love team. I found this montage of the Top 20 Pacey & Joey moments...

My favorite was #20 :)

like a flowing river excerpts

After a hundred light years, I'm finished with Paulo Coelho's Like a Flowing River. I'm a little ADD so it really takes me long a time to finish one book but I was able to finish this book faster than my normal pace since it's filled with nice and inspiring stories.

There were lots of words of wisdom from Coelho. His words somehow enlightened me on some of the issues I am facing. Here are a few of them:

"Sometimes, we are so attached to our way of life that we turn down a wonderful opportunity simply because we don't know what to do with it."

"We struggle for our dreams, but we must also know that, when certain paths prove impossible, it would be best to save our energies in order to travel other roads."

"... the greatness of Gos always reveals itself in the simple things."

"... each of us have our own personal legend to fulfill, and that is all. It doesn't matter if other people support us or criticize us, or ignore us, put us up with us -- we are doing it because that is our destiny on this earth, and the fount of all joy."

"Elegance is achieved when all the superfluous things have been discarded and the human being discovers simplicity and concentration. The simpler and more sober the posture, the more beautiful it will be."

next tuesday

Season 2 will be here Tuesday next week! Yay! So-so-so-so excited!

Pretty racy promos, no? For high schoolers, I'd say this is too much. Or is this American teenagers' norm?

I also love that GG airs on the onset of Fall. I so love the autumn season and fashion... though I live in a country where the only seasons are rainy (9 months) and summer (3 months). I was browsing some magazines online a few days ago and I was reminded that fall is near. Coats, tights and other fall fashion staples are on the pages of the magazine. Love it!

As to the Filipino version of Gossip Girl aka Lipgloss... I'd say nada. A lot of haters are bashing the show online even before the show aired. I mean, if you don't like the show then don't watch it. I haven't seen it yet but I'm planning on taking a peek so I could compare it to the real thing. I bet those haters do watch Lipgloss. Hypocrites.

SLAT 7: Your Cheatin' Heart

Just finished watching Secret Life of the American Teenager... I like this series. Though I can't really relate to what those kids are going through.

In this episode, Amy was supposed to go to her Mimsy's (grandma) house and stay there during her pregnancy but they were surprised when it was Mimsy who came over. Ben was problematic due to Amy's exile to wherever Amy's gradma lives and kept hallucinating that Amy was still in school. In the end, Mimsy said she was going to contract Alzheimer's soon and has checked herself in an assisted care home. So Amy is not going anywhere. Ben is happy.

I like Ben. Are there guys like Ben in the real world? Amy Jeurgens, you're (semi) lucky.

GO TO SLEEP.

NOW.

I SAID NOW.

randomness

Technology is overwhelming. Well, at least for me. A few months ago, I purchased a surveillance tool of sorts for the nail spa. I could access the unit through a 3G cellphone, by calling the unit using a Smart number for P6 per minute. I've been using Globe for two years now and I have no complaints regarding their service. But with Smart, my load credits seem to get used up magically. Since I'm not really married to my cellphone, meaning I don't like sending text messages nor calling (kasi mahal), my P100 load could last me 15 days. Yun ay 'pag wala akong makulit na customer. I haven't accessed the surveillance unit for a month or so since I had to replace the SIM card in the unit. It already expired due to inactivity. Plus, I was not informed I had to load it P60 every 2 months or else, the SIM would expire. And it did. Plus, there's also the configuration problems with my phone. Hassle.

Anyway... yesterday, while shopping for blank CDs and DVDs, I saw this wireless security camera on display. I asked the sales assistant if I would need anything else to get the unit working (ie. a PC, internet connection, etc). Na-excite ako kasi it's portable and supposedly (well, from what I understand) I don't need to spend P6/minute to access it. Haha. Kuripot. But really, with Smart's rate, I think you can't see much within a minute and therefore would need to spend more? So I already found a buyer for our surveillance tool but she wants it NOW. But I have to check first whether the other unit I'm planning on purchasing is really capable of the things I perceive it is capable of doing. I have to be in Mega at 10am.

Karaoke Lunch Out with my Spanish Class amigas. It was supposed to be Jaime's birthday blowout. He quietly celebrated his birthday last month, I bet so that we won't ask for any birthday treat from him. Unfortunately, we found out about it and persuaded him to treat us to karaoke. But lo and behold, Jaime said he can't come since he was sick and needed to rest. Uhh... okay. And I thought I was kuripot. But it was a BLAST! Anne came. Pam, Joji, Kosh and I were there. Josette came in late. It was so much fun. Who knew three hours could be so quick?

Red Box looks a bit beaten-up though. And I just have to mention this- I hate the way you have to browse through their selection. It was 7 years ago since I last went to a videoke bar and I know that a flipbook seems outdated as compared to the remote-controlled selection... but it was so much easier to search for songs through a list. As a result, we had to go through 5 consecutive Barry Manilow songs before the next artist. Albeit it was a really fun experience. Next week, Cheek's having his house blessing and Josette and I will bring our Magic Sing to the party. Hehe.

Yesterday, I stayed in Starbucks for almost 3 hours waiting for my sisters. So much for the diet... I had a Grande Mocha Frap but Light Blended and no whipped cream. So may effort pa rin. However, I observed that the beverage made me felt a bit sluggish afterwards. Or maybe I was so tired from going from one end of Megamall to the other-- thrice. I was so tired that I was so tempted to lay my head on the table and sleep (just like college days in the lib), but I fought the urge since if I do fall asleep, I might wake up with drool on my face. Dyahe. Hehe.

Also in Starbucks... there was this couple who was doing PDA to the max. As in. They were giving each other back massages... in public. I don't care kung pakialamera ako... pakialamera na kung pakialamera pero diba... you don't give your girlfriend (or bf) a massage in a cafe for all the world to see. Actually, bahay na bahay sila dun. First, the massage. Then they shared a seat, canoodling. And all the other PDA stuff. Get a room, why don't you?

***

At dahil pakialamera (at chismosa) talaga ako...

I was paying my Globelines bill yesterday when I overheard the foreign-accented-guy reprimanding a customer service assistant of their bad service. The CS assistant was explaining to him that his friend was this and that, blah blah blah. To which the guy replied, "She's my wife." With conviction. At doon ako napatingin. E kasi naman... ang exotic ng wife mo! Naka-duster pa. Pero in fairness, ang cute niya at hindi ketanders. I think the Mr. She's-My-Wife was being defensive. There's nothing wrong with being her friend, right? Next time, ask your wife to wear something presentable. Buti nga hindi sinabing, "Sir, your maid..." ayayayay... ang sama ko na. Tama na. Pero totoo. Mag-duster ba naman sa mall.

***

My parents are back from the province :) So I have to sleep in our room again. Back to the wonderful world of kalat! Cluttered to the max. I just don't know where to start.

But the good thing about my parents being here is that I won't have to take care of things. I won't be the go-to person if Manang needs bigas, asin, mantika, etc. Also, I won't be the one to decide as to what we'll be having for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

And they're also here in preparation for our Thailand trip which is, I believe, just three weeks away. Excited? :P And daddy said he misses us already and wants to be part of our weekly family day.

I want a BIG calculator. A pink one. I forgot which store was selling it but I bet there's a much cheaper version in Divi.

I'm currently watching Meteor Garden on QTV. Ang chaka ng dubbing! Basta GMA ang nag-dub, tunog galing sa ilalim ng lupa. Anyway, the scene was when Shan Cai went to the countryside to live with her parents and there she met Ah Xu (di ako sure). Ah Xu was left by his girlfriend who turns out to be... Xu Weilun. Creepy. Xu Weilun died two years ago in a car crash. Sad. I like her pa naman... because I want to be thin like her. Hehe.

Xu Weilun... RIP.

I'm trying to come up with label designs for my containers. It is very time-consuming. Imagine for 4 frickin' hours, I was able to come up with only 3 puny designs. And I want to come up with more... GIMME GIMME MORE! Channeling my inner Britney Spears... hehe. Speaking of Britney Spears, I'm excited to see her VMA performance this year. Will she be able to redeem herself from the booboo she made last year? Tune it to MTV Phils... not! Knowing MTV Phils, they'll air it towards the end of the month, so I'll download it from mininova instead.

And I just wanna share... last Wednesday, I made my very first scented candle :) It's so pretty... and it smells sooo good.

This week has gone by so very quickly. So na nga, very pa. Oo, ganun kabilis. I made a mental list of the things that I was supposed to accomplish before the week ends. Next time, I should put it on paper so I could monitor the developments (or non-development) of things.

I'm watching these kids- The Silverdale Boyz- on tv and they're annoying the hell out of me. Plus, the song reminds me of Leron, Leron Sinta. I'm not being anti-Filipino or anything ha, it's just that they really suck. I'm reading this book explaining why we, Filipinos, are poor and it stems from our culture of self-hate. But not liking those unaners is different...

Back to the weight thing-y... My sisters and I are on a diet, but I am not strictly following it. Reasons are: 1) my birthday is just a few weeks away and 2) my Thailand trip, which is obviously going to be food trip. So yesterday while having breakfast, I told her that I won't be able to finish the diet because of the aforementioned reasons. I also told her that I had a splitting headache the other day since I'm eating much lesser than what I am used to. And this was how I got into a bad mood yesterday...
Thailand e yung pagkain.
AC: so talagang pupunta ka dun para lumamon
M: Hindi ako pupunta dun para lumamon, kakain ako dun (sabay walk out)
Sabana mojada.

There was also this one time when I was watching the gymnastics competition of the Olympics. While I was watching, she came into the room and then commented, "Bakit gustung-gusto mo nanunuod ng gymnastics? Gusto mo nakakakita ng bakat?"

Huwat???

At saan naman nanggaling yun? And fyi: women's gymnastics ang inaabangan ko. Whatevs.

I get by with a little help from... Garfield :)

weekend blast

Last weekend was nice. Saturday~ AB and I ate lunch at Pizza Hut, watched AVSL then had ice cream at Dairy Queen. What a way to spend a Saturday afternoon~ muy perezoso y llena de comida. Sunday~ we went with our weekly family lunch. We ate at Max's in St. Lucy. There were only four of us since AD was in a retreat and Bokya preferred to be with his boyfriend's family. After lunch, accompanied AB to her friend's son's birthday and after that headed to Gateway for AC's fix of masahe (ng bulag, kelangan sa bulag talaga). Mocha frap heaven. And then spent 2 hours inside National Bookstore.

Lakwatsa. Kain. Lakwatsa. Kain. Perfect way to spend your weekend, right?

Last Saturday, on my way to Gateway... aboard the LRT Purple Line, there were 2 CEU (it says so on their shirt) girls were sitting beside me. Wala namang problema. Until one of them brought out her cellphone and then it started playing hiphop tunes... loudly, for everyone to hear. I mean, no one wants to hear what they're listening to. Don't they have earphones? Por favor! How inconsiderate of them to do that. I was really really tempted to 1) ask her if she doesn't have earphones; 2) tell her, 'Miss, ang ingay ng telepono mo;' 3) leave her a note saying 'hindi lahat ng tao gusto pakinggan ang music mo;' 4) remove my earphones and have my sounds compete with hers. I was really really really tempted to do #4. As in. Good thing I arrived in my destination station already.

Watched AVSL for the second time. AB's treat. She hasn't watched it yet while I was willing to watch it again. I want another serving of those baduy and kilig fest. Ano ba? Kanya-kanya lang, walang pakialamanan. AB didn't like it. She said it was a fan movie. Does that mean I'm a fan? Parang hindi naman. Slight lang. Haha. I just find John Lloyd cute. But AB said abot-kaya naman si John Lloyd, meaning he looks regular. If John Lloyd looks regular, kawawa naman yung iba. Anyway...

While exploring the books in National Bookstore, I found this book of Would you rather's. Super funny. The book is filled with questions that makes you choose between two choices that are equally just as awful. But my favorite was:
Would you rather have Parmesan cheese dandruff
or
bubble-wrap acne?
So what would you rather have?

Another one was
Would you rather name your children after the size of drinks at Starbucks or robots in movies? In this question, a factor to consider was what if Grande grows taller than Venti. Now there's a dilemma.

Funny, diba?

Another thing... my sisters are encouraging me to get a 9 to 5 job. I need a more stable source of income and try other things while I'm still at the "prime of my life." I want to. But I don't know if I can. I don't know if I have what it takes to work in a company wherein I don't have my sister as my boss or me as my boss. I want to try it but my fear of the unknown and aversion to formalities is getting the best of me. While my sisters were bombarding me with pangaral and questions of what I want to do with my life, I was secretly asking God for a sign~ whether I should work a 9 to 5 job or take my business seriously. When I arrived home, turned the PC on and logged on into my email account, I received a private message from a batchmate asking me if I'm interested in applying for a vacancy in their company. Timing! So I'm thinking maybe this was the sign I was asking from God. Maybe it is and so I'm willing to give it a try. Although I'm also having second thoughts since I am not very confident with my Spanish. Ipapasa-Diyos ko na lang. Try ko lang.

Also... I'm happy that I have an order for a wedding on October. Nothing's final yet but I'm hoping na maging okay.

And last but def not the least... I discovered this new series The Secret Life of the American Teenager. I love it! A little shocking for me and my so-called principles. The series is mainly about 15-year old Amy Juergens getting pregnant for experimenting with Ricky (school's bad boy) while at band camp and they're not even in a relationship. Entertaining. But a little disturbing at how young people nowadays are so open to sex and stuff. I mean, at 15 years old... you should be worrying about prom and not about babies. I'm just saying...
Nevertheless I still love and enjoy watching this show. It's only on its first season and I've watched only until its 6th episode (it's only on it's 6th episode). In the absence of GG and Chuck, I've found another time-waster. New episode airs on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning for me) ;)

yay!!!

OMG! I just freed my PC 40+ gigabytes of temp files! Imagine, from an almost non-existent percentage of free space to a whopping 74%?!?! Almost half of my disk space was occupied by parasitic spyware files and temp files. Kainis.

But everything's all good now; therefore, I have lots of disk space and I can finally download Full House :)

happy

un día muy perezoso (otra vez)

Anyway... I got my second book from Bookmooch! Helen Fisher's Why We Love. To date, I have already received two books from moochers abroad and have given 4 books to local moochers. Due to expensive shipping costs, I chose to send books only within my country. Well, I save my points and should a nice book title becomes available abroad, I mooch it and pray that the owner's willing to send it to the Philippines. Madaya ba kamo? I don't think so. I actually think that it's unfair on my part. Looking at the list of books available for mooching from local members, the list of 7000+ books mostly consists of Reader's Digests, back issues of magazines and an awful lot of textbooks~ ultimong El Filibusterismo at Ibong Adarna. Pathetic, right?

But it's okay cos I have a new book and it smells nice, too. I would have to thank Nicole from Conneticut who sent the book. I'm so happy :)

On other news...
I'm such a stalker.

May kilala ako...

Traffic Tourette's

The uncontrollable urge to scream obscenities at other drivers who infringe on your space (whether real or imagined).

Jay: Man that guy just cut you off.
Mark: That @#$% can't drive worth @#$%.
Jay: I see your traffic tourette's is getting worse.

"Rain, rain, go away
Come again another day
Little children, little children

Little children want to play"

It's raining... AGAIN! I so hate rainy days because 1) sales aren't that great if it's raining outside, 2) I hate getting my feet wet, and 3) I just get the blues whenever it's dark and gloomy outside. The only thing I like when it's raining is the weather is cool. No need for electric fan or air conditioning.

I remember my sister and I used to chant "Rain, rain, go away" when we were kids. Batang-kalye kami at tuwing hapon (pagkatapos matulog sa tanghali), walang mintis... laro na yan. So my aversion to the rain dates way, way back. When we were younger, rain means we can't play outside.

I wish rain could be scheduled. If I can have it my way, it can rain on Mondays (whole day), Tuesday to Friday (1am to 12pm) and never on weekends. Asa.

ma mon luk

The inevitable first day of the month post. I just have to do it. Rant about how fast time flies. Month in, month out... I always seem to have a post that says "...time flies talaga even when you're not having fun..." Well, that's true. Most especially when you find yourself in the same exact spot you were five years ago.

I'll be turning a year older (again) soon. That too is inevitable. I'm dreading the fact that I'll be in my late 20s when the day comes. I think I have to do something with my life before it's too late. But then again someone told me that it's never too late to do anything. True.

***
Now I move on to something amusing (on my part). Yesterday, I helped someone find a funeral parlor called Everlasting. They wanted to go but they didn't know where it was located. I got the newly delivered telephone directories, got the topmost directory and opened it to this page...
Only certain people would know what this means.
