un dia con melocoton

Saturday is Spanish class day and sometimes... it is also Divisoria day.

Arrived class a little late. Turned out Sra. Ana will not be teaching us anymore since she has contracted bronchitis. I hope she gets well soon. Felipe (the teacher who looks like Mr. Green in that Hey! Arnold cartoon) took her place. We already had Felipe for our teacher back in level 10. I didn't like his teaching technique back then since it bored the hell out of everyone in class but this time, he has improved a whole lot. I enjoy his class more now.

Yesterday, Felipe said he thinks that the Filipino language is beautiful. He'd like to learn it and compose a poem in Filipino. Nakakataba ng puso for a foreigner to think so, don't you think? In this day and age that there's not much premium given to our beloved mother tongue and English is placed in a pedestal, it is a nice thing to hear from a foreigner. He liked the word buntong-hininga. He thinks it sounds so poetic. I've heard from someone that Filipino is a poet's language. Pure, incorrupted Filipino, that is.

Another good thing I found out yesterday is that the snotty, snotty Chinese girl in our class will not be enrolling for the next level. That confirms how much she dislikes us. Well, we don't care because the feeling is mutual.

After class, Peaches and I went to Divi for a divi-tripping trip. First stop was, you've guessed it... Wai Ying. How can we not stop by and grab a bite at our beloved dimsum place? Nalunod ako sa curry beef! I really wanted to order Lemon chicken but after much deliberation, decided to order curry beef instead. It's been a while since I've had curry beef and for the past visits to Wai Ying, I've been ordering lemon chicken. Besides, it's always good to rekindle my relationship with my first favorite Wai Ying dish, Curry Beef. Busog na ako sa Curry Beef Rice ko pa lang and Peaches and I ordered hakaw, pork siomai and shark's fin. I'm full to the brim but P-A-C-I-N-G is the key. We had to take minute breaks from chewing so as to accommodate more. We left Wai Ying happy and content.

Next stop was Divi Mall. Nakahanap na ako ng Divi-sparring-partner. Mahilig din si Peaches sa mga maliliit na walang kwentang bagay, sa mga anik-anik at sa mga gadget-gadgetan. So we were like floating through the alleys of Divi Mall, oooh-ing and aah-ing with every thingamajig-with-unknown-function-yet we see. We were two souls walking aimlessly thru Divisoria Mall alleys on a sweaty Saturday afternoon. Next stop was 168 mall. Medyo low-batt na kami pagdating sa 168. We continued our leisurely walk and search for spicy dilis and sampaloc. We didn't find any. I know there are stalls selling those goodies but we're too sleepy and tired to look for it. Peaches and I decided to go home already since we're already sleepy and our feet were killing us.

The journey home wasn't easy since it took us forever to find a taxi. Taxis didn't want to take us to Makati. After a gazillion light years, we just took a pedicab going to Binondo Church assuming that there might be more taxis there. After a bumpy pedicab ride, with a fire truck wailing its alarm just behind us, we got off in front of the church. Just the same, we didn't get to find a taxi. So we just took the jeep going to Buendia. Peaches and I hurrily scurried and successfully crossed Buendia Avenue like two cats running for dear life.

After 3 more rides, I was home at last. It was a good day. Kahit na super nakakapagod, I had so much fun. Peaches is so fun to hang out with. Next week, she wants to go to Binondo again but this time, with the other classmates. Instituto Cervantes will be having an event so almost everyone will be there. I think... But I'm not sure if I would be since it'll be my cousin's birthday that day.

After 5 hours in Divisoria-Binondo, I was able to buy:
* super chamois - I wanted to have one since I was in high school... when it was still sold in home tv shopping
* a fortune plant - to bring luck to our business (sana lang)
* Dawson's Creek Season 1-3 - yehey! I'll be able to relive my HS days thru watching this... and remember why I hate Katie Holmes so much
* The Vineyard Man DVD - I'm an in-denial Yoon Eun-hye fan. I disliked her pre-Goong days but now, she's just so likeable. But it's still icky how she's rumored to be Kim Jong-kook's girlfriend.
* Hannah Montana Season 1- I love Hannah Montana!

5 hours in Divisoria and I only bought ^. Not so bad. Technically, we spent 2.5 hours in Wai Ying since we had to pace ourselves while eating, remember? And the other 2.5 hours spent walking along the smelly streets of Divisoria and the crowded pasilios of DM and 168. Okay lang kasi it was super fun.

I can't wait for my next Divi-tripping.
