whoa nelly!
Maybe time really goes by quicker when you're older. Seems just like yesterday when 2012 started and now we're just a few days away from February. It was the start of the Lunar New Year aka Chinese New Year yesterday so as usual, we were bombarded with forecasts for the year ahead. Being a dog, I'm supposed to not have a good year but meh, I think I will not believe Chinese horoscopes or any horoscope for that matter. I am lucky whatever the stars or feng shui say. Anyway, so far, I've been having an okay start and I am hoping that it'll continue to be this way, if not better.
A lot of reunions with families and friends which I enjoyed tremendously. This reminds me why I like what I am doing. I have my time to myself which means I can go malling, watch movies, have coffee with friends when most people are in their offices. Well, in fairness naman to me, sometimes I start work as soon as I get out of bed (7-ish, the time I wake up every morning whether or not I have something to because I don't want to get used to lazing around and wasting time) and work until everyone's sleeping soundly in their beds. So there, I am thankful for that. Going back... so the luxury of time I have gave me the opportunity to catch-up with my friends and take my relatives and take them mall-hopping. Haha!
All were gifts and pasalubong except the last one which was a rubber stamp of my initial. I am vain that way, hehe.
I think the official start of the year for me is actually February. January kasi, most especially this year because there were a lot of balikbayans, medyo humahangover pa from the holidays. Starting February, I am officially starting Rex Manning duties and also try to live a healthier lifestyle and ACTUALLY lose that 30 lbs I should've lost 5 years ago. I will jumpstart this with the GM Diet so wish me luck ;)
I actually like it that time flies fast but sometimes, it's just unsettling most especially when you're trying to accomplish things before a deadline. Like my 30 Before 30 List, for example. I haven't actually had time (or diligence) to complete the list, moreso accomplish it. Looks like it'll be a 35 Before 35 list. I just want one for my personal goals and I don't want to stress myself trying to beat the deadline (kasi seven months na lang!) should I go on with the original plan. But whatever, someone told me that I shouldn't be too hard on myself and I think she's right.
My life is status quo in a fast-paced world. I must start doing something about my personal goals already (and believe it or not, the list doesn't include a lovelife... ) or else it'd be harder to catch up. Wish me luck, loves!

RT2012 book 3: diary of a wimpy kid: rodrick rules
Just finished my third book today. Woohoo!!! Fine, fine... another easy read but still...
Anyway, I thought of reading this book first before the others because I had to return it to my nephew (yes, I borrowed it from my 11-year old nephew) soon. Aside from the reason that I enjoyed watching the movie, I was also interested in reading the book because it had illustrations in it. Yes, I am that juvenile :P
It was a fun read and I really enjoyed looking at the illustrations. Rodrick was really a pain in the ass but I didn't find likable as well. It was funny, though ☺

recreation therapy 2012: book 1 & 2
We're on a roll these days, eh? Well, sige na easy reads lang naman ang mga natapos ko pero kahit na books pa rin ;P So that's 2 books down and 22 more to go before I meet my target quantity of books to be read.
Book#1: Smart vs Pretty by Valerie Frankel
Thrifted the book from Booksale. I was instantly attracted to the cover which is actually a big factor for me when choosing books because I am shallow like dut. Plus, the author has a very pretty name *ahem* Haha. So anyway, in a nutshell... the book was a nice read and I did enjoy it but what the book really was about was like not at all what I expected. They should've gave it another title because I thought it was misleading. I was expecting some sibling rivalry of sorts storyline, not a crime & investigation one. But I guess it was titled as such because the sisters were able to overcome everything using the smart sister's intelligence and the pretty sister's charm & looks.
Book#2: The Best of Chico & Delamar's The Morning Rush Top 10
Super funny, although I think nothing beats listening to them live with Chico's perfect timing of delivering the punchline with matching sound effects, etc. I really miss listening to them every morning but I get too lazy to turn on the radio and it's so much easier to switch the TV on (hello, remote control!). I enjoyed reading this so much that I couldn't put it down but during my commute going home yesterday, I got to this part-- 10,000 B.C. - Taon ipinanganak si Madam Auring-- and I couldn't stop laughing and I'm afraid people in the LRT might think I am crazy so I stopped reading and decided to continue it when I got home.

a happy bunny once again
So far, so good.
Except for one nail spa drama that I was able to address naman right away. I'm glad I made that call right away and even if they say not to say anything when you're at the height of feeling an emotion (ie. anger, happiness), I think it was the right time to talk to her. Sa palagay ko napaintindi ko naman sa kanya at sa palagay ko naman naramdaman niya ang galit ko for the first time in six years, cos for the first time in six years, ngayon lang siya hindi nakasingit habang nagsasalita ako. Good. Now she knows the wrath of moi. I hope that's it. No more drama in my life, puhleeze.
Moving on to good things...
I have long been planning an homage to Bruno Mars's The Lazy Song and not do anything one whole day. Ever since I started being a one-man production (sabi ni Bro. Bo, money machine daw), I haven't had any lazy day. And ever since November, I haven't had any rest- yung talagang rest na wala kang ibang iniisip. But I don't know if I can do that anytime soon because I have two (new) pending orders [Yehey!!!] and I have to deal with renewal of business permits and licenses which reminds me I have to look for my permits because I frakkin' lost them. Plus, my mom's will be going with daddy to the province meaning I will be the house manager. Frakkit. And I really hate being asked what to cook for dinner, etc. Sucks to be a grown-up, ya?
This week was busy being "hosts" to the balikbayans. My daddy's siblings are all here in the Philippines because they had their ancestral house renovated and last December 31 was its blessing. It was [more] fun [in the Philippines]. Supermega kain galore lang which is detrimental to my yet-to-be-started diet or better put, weight loss plan. Although it's also tiring going around the metro and in addition to that, trying to speak to my spokening dollar cousin in English, it was also nice catching up with my aunts and uncles who I see only once in 3 to 5 years.
I have yet to make a post about the things I am grateful for in 2011 and also a wishlist for 2012.
Had a great day today. Just keep 'em coming, Lord. Thank You.
Toodles xoxo
P.S. Got pdf file of Chasing Jordan. Super grateful ♥ Thank You!

d-addicts: heartstrings
{source} |
Heartstrings really pulled on my kilig strings. As in giddiness galore. The story is about how Lee Shin slowly falls for Lee Gyu-won. Another title for the drama is You've Fallen For Me, which I think is actually more apt. The story starts with Lee Shin, a music major in Cultural Arts University (or something to that effect) crosses path with Lee Gyu-won, a Traditional Music student in the same school. Their first encounter wasn't actually pleasant. Lee Shin was cold and acting indifferent which earned him the nickname "Narcissistic Prince" from Gyu-won. Initially, Gyu-won hated Shin's guts (or pretended to) but after their bet I think that was when the pieces started to fall together.
Gyu-won challenged Lee Shin to Traditional Music vs. Modern Music contest. The Wildflowers vs. The Stupid. The loser would be the other's slave for a month. It was obvious who would win the challenge since traditional music is always acquired taste, plus Lee Shin holds some sort of a celebrity status in the university, crush ng bayan baga. So Gyu-won becomes Shin's slave for a month, including getting his coffee every morning. And in my opinion, it all started with this~

looks family, right? Laida Magtalas and Sir Miggy, isdatchu? |

Ang guapo. Rawr.

sana facebook status ka na lang para pwede kitang i-LIKE. yikee... |
Lee Shin's personality suddenly changed for the better and it's so cute how he breaks into a smile or a smirk when he sees Gyu-won. Although personally I think he's much much cuter when he's somber, hehe. [Hay anyway, biglang sumama loob ko kaya I will cut this short. Nakakainis talaga mga tao.]
Love it ♥

2011 in retrospect
The past year was okay in general. I was able to breeze through it sans major major problems. But if 2011 were a person, I'd say there were lots of room for improvement, not my best so to speak.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
♥ Meeting the last cousin (we haven't met yet at the time) last January. Cousin M and friends came here in Philippines to meet the cousins and I reckon to also get to know part of his heritage. Although we didn't get to connect with them that much due to time constraints and fear of terrorist activities (there was a bus bombing in Makati around that time) so they opted to stay in their hotel. But it was fun getting to meet them albeit the nosebleed English, haha!
♥ successfully avoided Coke and Starbucks Mocha Frap for 40 days. My sacrifice for the Lenten season which I should've carried on doing even after the 40 days.
♥ The Script concert with Ycel. Subsidized by Ycel. Loved and enjoyed every bit of the concert. My only regret was not preparing myself before going which was due to deliveries that had to be done.
♥ A 400-peso Bacolod trip for my cousin's wedding. My only travel for the year.
♥ Free movies c/o AD and her handy dandy movie passes. Whenever I had to make deliveries, I just go to AD's office where I wait for her to get off work then she drives me to where I need to make the delivery. So I watch movies to kill time. Hitting two birds with one stone, eh? ;)
♥ New series! Awkward, 2 Broke Girls, Hart of Dixie and New Girl. But my favorite has got to be Awkward. Me loves that series to bits. As in I could watch and re-watch it for 20 times and not get tired of it. I love it that much. I dunno if the Philippine masses has caught up in the bandwagon (and I hope not) but I got on it because it's a high school kilig chuva and I'm a sucker for anything that can be my source of vicarious kilig.
♥ This is going to be mababaw but Dan finally admitting he likes Blair in Gossip Girl. For most, Blair +Dan was unthinkable four seasons ago judging by how they used to hate each other but ever since that conversation they had by the window during season 1, I've been wanting this to happen. And it did. I'm so happy.
♥ 82/100 movies. You Again * Flipped * Get Him to the Greek * Grown Ups * Love and Other Drugs * Tangled * Eat Pray Love * The Social Network * My Valentine Girls * Due Date * Mean Girls 2 * First Love (Sing Lek Lek) * While You Were Sleeping * Life As We Know It * How Do You Know? * Never Let Me Go * Catch Me... I'm In Love * The Out-of-Towners * The Chaperone * Morning Glory * Little Fockers * Wall Street 2 * The Roommate * Little Manhattan * Thor * From Prada to Nada * Just Go With It * Rio * X-Men: First Class * Beastly * Insidious * Gulliver's Travels * The Rite * Green Lantern * Waiting For Forever * Something Borrowed * Departures * Unknown * Source Code * Daydream Nation * King's Speech * Monte Carlo * The Last Song * The Adjustment Bureau * Harry Potter 2: Chamber of Secrets * Transformers: Dark of the Moon * Super 8 * Hangover 2 * Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1 * Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2 * Bridesmaids * Take Me Home Tonight * See You in September * Bad Teacher * Captain America * Iron Giant * Ang Babae sa Septic Tank * Prom * Chasing Liberty * The Other Woman * The Switch * One Day * Bring It On (re-watch) * Larry Crowne * Kung Fu Panda 2 * The Change-Up * Sherlock Holmes * The Invention of Lying * Horrible Bosses * A Little Bit of Heaven * Real Steel * No Other Woman * Anger Management * What's Your Number? * I Don't Know How She Does It * Sixteen Candles * Drive * Abduction * Crazy Stupid Love * The Adventures of Tin Tin * The Help * Trespass Not bad, eh? Well, wish ko sana 100 pero at least I'm 20 movies closer to my goal than last year, hehe.
♥ 13 books. Every year I'm getting closer and closer to my 24 books target per year ☺
♥ My December bazaar in the village I oh-so-love. Feeling ko kasi I belong. Charot. Haha. I just love it there because they love my products (Hi fans!). There were a few glitches but that could be charged to experience. Mahal nga lang but at least I know better now. December has been crazy but it's the kind of crazy I'd love to experience all the time.
THE DOWNSIDE
♣ The nail spa didn't go too good last year. Plus, there was another addition to the roster of nail spas in the village. Ang smart, diba? Really felt financial constraints last 2011 and it was depressing. Malungkot maging mahirap. Hehe. Huhu.
♣ Still didn't lose weight and it seems that I seem to lose my willpower to resist temptation. Kung makamidnight snack, akala mo pang 16-year old pa rin ang metabolish eh. Boo.
♣ The many disasters that struck the country and abroad. Although we weren't direct victims of the natural disasters that happened last 2011, it's still sad that that many lives were lost. I guess that's a reminder of how uncertain each day. Maybe we have to start living as if each day were our last... We'll never know.
♣ Friends going abroad to work.
♣ No personal development pa din. That's because I am not doing anything to further my development.
So generally, 2011 wasn't too bad. BUT I REALLY WISH AND AM KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED THAT 2012 WILL BE A WHOLE LOT BETTER (MOST ESPECIALLY, FINANCIALLY HOHOHO!) Anyway, so without further ado...
MY RESOLUTIONS FOR THE YEAR 2012
○ Our NY resolution staple since 2005- LOSE WEIGHT.
○ Maximize my gym membership. So mukhang may tool na tayo for Resolution #1: Lose weight. AC enrolled me in a gym para magpapayat na daw kami. Good luck. Although I really plan getting on my healthy weight and I need to do it just in time for my NY trip. Hanep sa pagenvision, ano? Law of attraction lang daw yan ;)
○ This should have been first-- LEARN TO DRIVE. Super nahirapan ako this bazaar season because I had to commute most of the time. Everyone's busy so transportation wasn't readily available. Supermega thank you sa LRT because it made my commutes much easier, not to mention a whole lot cheaper! But yes, I need to learn how to drive so I wouldn't need to rely on other people to drive me around.
○ Apply for a US visa. Got my passport renewed last year so this year's for visa application.
○ Stop picking on my zits.
○ Plan nail spa's calendar of activity for the whole 2012 in advance. Be more aggressive with marketing. Basically, to make the nail spa a lucrative business.
○ Be more open to new things.
○ Travel to another country, either alone or with friends
○ No more midnight snacks. Pati na rin late night snacks.
I'm sure there are still more. I really want to make 2012 the best year of my life ever, as the mother of all resolutions hehe.
To cap off this post, here are some of the highlights of my December 2011 since I was too busy to update this blog~
First up~ after the hullabaloo of my December bazaar but still amidst the ordering frenzy, took a short break and took my gehls to watch ABS CBN's Christmas Special c/o J.
