awkward s02 e12: the other shoe

SEASON FINALE!!! So sad that it's already season 2's last episode. I'd have to wait for 9 months for the third one (which is a 24-episode season, ya'll!). Thank goodness I have my other series premiering in the coming weeks to keep me distracted.

SUPER BITIN!

So anyway, Jenna picks Matty over Jake which is perfect because I think Jake has gotten a little boring. Maybe Jake's appeal in the past was he was with Lissa- you know what they say... we always want what we can't have. 

School year's almost over and the Sophomore class is going to a trip in Europe. Val bullies Jenna's parents into letting Jenna go on (and pay for) the trip which isn't exactly how Jenna planned to spend her summer vacation. She and Matty already planned on going to camp again where Matty will be head counselor. But Jenna feels that Europe will be an experience but at the same time, she wants to be with Matty over summer break. I really think Jenna's decision not to go to Europe stems from the fact that she is afraid that Matty might find another girl. That wasn't said but I guess why would she forego Europe? It's Europe, for crying out loud! Yes, I loooove Jenna + Matty and they really look cute together but come on, they shouldn't let their relationship hinder them from doing and experiencing new things even if it not together. 

They really look good together! I get butterflies in my stomach when it's their scene together, haha. But still {uh oh, here comes the prude in me} Jenna's parents walks in on them making out INSIDE JENNA'S BEDROOM and they're not even shocked about it. I'm just shocked that some parents are okay about things like this. 

We all know that Sadie and Ricky were sort of a couple but now, Ricky's moving on to his next conquest leaving Sadie distraught. Who knew Sadie would be so clingy to Ricky, no? But that is not the most surprising twist of our season finale. It is... drumroll please...

Tamara and Jake! Who knew??? And what's weird (okay, it's not that weird) is that Jenna seemed a little jealous. Maybe she still feels territorial over Jake and Tamara is one of her BFFs. Let's see where this angle is going next season.

So am I happy that Jenna chose Matty? YES. 

Yes, I was conflicted (naks, feeling Jenna) before on whose team I was, but after a few episodes I realized I really want Matty. As I've mentioned before, Jake was a little boring. Jenna's life right now seems to be mirroring her mother's and I really hope this will not end like another one of MTV's show- 16 and Pregnant. Ha. Anyway, it was always fun watching this series. I swear, why is an episode only 20-minutes long??? 

This is not yet the end of it. I predict more of the Matty-Jenna-Jake triangle. We'll know in nine months. Argh. Torture.

awkward s02 e11: once upon a blog

Last episode, Jenna makes the existence of her blog known to the whole school population. She did it to, hopefully, win Jake back but unfortunately it backfired. Matty and Jake wanted her to choose between them but she doesn't know to approach the topic and resolve her dilemma, so she results to what she thinks she does best in times like this- blogging.

But instead of blogging about her real-life drama, she tried fictionalizing their love triangle. 

Obviously, Twilight and peg. 

But her fictionalized take on her complicated relationship with Jake and Matty were boring her readers. They want the real dish on the situation. Next, she tries to envision a what-might-have-been scenario had she done things differently. In the do-over, Matty brings their relationship out in the open which eventually made her pals with Sadie which eventually turns her into a raging bitch. Think Cady Heron in Mean Girls

Another version of a do-over is she was with Jake. Jake realizes she not that into Jenna so he dumps her so Jenna pretends she's pregnant to get Jake back only she really was pregnant.

In the end, Jenna just decides to keep her blog private again.

awkward s02e09: homewrecker hamilton

Episode 8 (Time After Time) was EPIC! It was the moment of reckoning- in other words, nagkaalaman na. I do not blame Jake for feeling betrayed by two of the most important persons in his life. After all, he was taken for a fool by them and he did witness it with his own eyes. 

Jenna has a lot of nerve to ask Jake why he broke up with her. She didn't know Jake already knows her history with Matty but she kissed Matty the night Jake broke up with her! I mean, while it's obvious that she's still very much into Matty, shouldn't she steer clear first of Jake just to give herself time to sort out her feelings? 

Jenna was asking for it...

For the first time, I agree with Sadie. Well even if technically Jenna didn't cheat on Jake, it still was wrong for them to keep Jake in the dark. But the thing is no one really knew about Matty and Jenna, except for Ming and Tamara. So I was actually wondering how did Sadie know??? 

omgeezers. ang haba ng hair ni jenna.

Oh my, what's Jenna gotten herself into? I swear that girl has come a long way from being "invisible." Actually, it is annoying of her to break Matty's and Jake's hearts. I wish she could just choose between the two and not prolong their agony. 

Gah. The anticipation is killing me! We've only got 3 episodes left and they're going to combine episodes 11 and 12, I guess that leaves us with only 2. Buti na lang it's September soon~ Gossip Girl, HIMYM, Hart of Dixie, Bones and Suburgatory!!! And oh, Downton Abbey :D

awkward s02 e05: my love is a black heart

It's Valentine's Day!

Aww.. Jake's so sweet. I haven't really decided who I want for Jenna but I really like Jake because he's so nice and sweet. Well, Matty could be nice and sweet, too, it's just that he kept Jenna his secret. And according to the handbook, Think Like A Man, Act Like A Lady, if a man does not profess publicly his love for you, don't count on it. I mean, who could blame Jenna for choosing Jake over Matty?

So Matty asks Jenna what would constitute a perfect Valentine date and Jenna dishes out on what she wants in a date, thinking Jake, through Matty, was getting intel on what she wants only...

... it was Matty asking for himself.

Of course, Jenna was mortified. Obviously, she's not yet over Matty. I feel sorry for Jake who's like pawn in this little Jenna-Matty thing. Although I think Jenna likes J but not as much as she likes M.

Everyone's hooking up this Valentine's day episode, even Ming!

I thought Ming was of the Ellen-variety when she went with that girl in last season's prom episode cos I was thinking she can go with Tamara who also didn't have a date for prom, but I guess I was wrong.

But what was the most unexpected was this

Ricky Schwartz and Sadie Saxton! Who would've thunk it? Right?? I'm not sure if Sadie did this just to annoy Tamara or if this is the real deal. Speaking of Ricky, he really looks decent this season

hindi na siya mukhang dinilaan ng kalabaw.

I don't know if it's just me or this season seems kinda slow. Each episode this season isn't as action-packed as the previous one- I could skip one episode and not miss anything. Hopefully, they'd pick up pace. And I miss Lissa, who, by the way, said tonight's most quotable quote:

Lissa (to Sadie): So, tonight, I was thinking we could kick off our carbs-only movie marathon with a classic love story in your honor, like Mean Girls

awkward s02e04: are you there god? it's me, jenna.

Today's episode was a little boring. Ho-hum. I am more excited for next week's episode when Jenna gets all jealous over Matty's new prospect.

awkward s02e03: three's a crowd

Jenna has this feeling that Matty is trying to sabotage his relationship with Jake. He willingly takes the role of a third wheel on Jenna & Jake's hangouts. She thinks that Matty is trying to tempt her by:

1. inappropriate "accidental" touching

2. "nuding up" every chance he gets

I understand your dilemma, Jenna. If I were to be teetered between two equally cute, nice and awesome boys, I too would be confused.

I remember this line from one of my favorite movies, The Man in the Moon - Remember when you couldn't wait for your life to begin... and then, one day, it did? I think this quote is applicable to Jenna's life. At the start of the show, she's complaining about how no one knows or cares about her existence. Her blog title is Invisible Girl. Here she is with her shiny new boyfriend (and ex-boyfriend) but that doesn't come with a price- her parents' marriage is falling apart and both yay! and nay! were caused by the same carefrontation letter her mother wrote her. You couldn't have one without the other. 

Lacey tries to lure Kevin back with a hot tub... only, Kevin sneaks into his house and finds his daughter with her boyfriend and (secret) ex-boyfriend in it. It has got to be one of my favorite line in tonight's episode:

Jenna: so can you please stick around and help me get Matty out of here
Kevin: So you can be alone with your boyfriend? 

"Nooooo"

So instead of driving Matty out, Dad has a better idea- 

He joins in on the fun. Whoopeedoo! 

Anyway, Kevin talked to Jenna about staying with his parents for the meantime. Heartbreaking, don't you think? But this could give Jenna and Lacey some quality time together

Is it just me or Jenna looks a little frumpy this season?

So here it is... after every episode I ask which team are you on: Team Matty or Team Jake. It's soooo hard to decide. Seriously, if it were me, I'd be in such a dilemma. Can't I just have both? Puede naman nating i-schedule diba? I thought I'm leaning more on Team Jake but when I see Matty like this,

I get all confused. So feeling ko ako si Jenna? 

awkward s02e02: sex, lies and the sanctuary

Wee! It's Awkward Day ☺ I'm super lazy and lethargic today as in I think I was sleeping the entire time. I was supposed to go to Divi today with my cousin but I begged off the last minute so here I am blogging and tumblring the night away.

The episode starts off with the students discovering of the installation of a CCTV camera in the "Sanctuary."

The Sanctuary is where people do their unmentionables. A DVD of footages has been stolen and with most of the school population, Jenna is worried if she and Matty are in it. Jenna hasn't told Jake yet as to who deflowered her and she's worried that he might know via the stolen footages.

Jake wanted to know who was that man before him in Jenna's life and Jenna just can't tell him who because it will break his heart. At first he was very insistent but later on, he told Jenna that if she doesn't want to tell then he doesn't want to know.

Ming also gets involved with the Asians in this episode and it is funny because although I'm an Asian, too, the specific Asian here are the Chinese and in college, most Chinese I know were like uptight Becca. Omigosh it's a good thing my Chinese friend doesn't read this blog or else...

As in it's super spot-on kasi. They're all grade-conscious and yun nga, uptight. Nakakainis sila, diba? But with our Chinese friend, we've accepted her the way she is- 3 o' clock habit and all.

Finally, Lacey told Kevin that it was her who wrote Jenna that letter but we'll see the aftermath in the following episodes. It'll be heartbreaking to see them break up over this. I hope they don't. In the season preview kasi they did and although what Lacey did was really detestable, she still deserves forgiveness and understanding, right?

So on whose team are you on: Matty or Jake? For me, it's 70-30 with Jake holding the majority. That is because he is such a sweetheart. Seriously, the guy can do no wrong. He's cute and smart and sweet. Well, Matty's also all that, only he didn't want to bring his & Jenna's relationship out in the open. As what Jenna said, she felt bad about herself when she was with Matty and it was the total opposite with Jake who tells it to the world.

I can't wait til that time Jake finds out that it was Matty all along!!! Exciiiiited ☺

awkward s02 e01: resolutions

And so it's finally here...

The wait is finally over. Saw it already and I am super duper over the moon with this awesome awesome series. I love it to pieces and no, that doesn't exactly mean that I can relate because I don't have two cute and adorable guys fighting over me (although I wish there were). Ha!

In last season's finale, we finally found out who wrote Jenna that care-frontation letter. It was a shock to most viewers (most especially my sister) because it was a pretty mean letter as it is, then to find out that words such as "as of now, you could disappear and no one would notice," came from your mom? Harsh. I couldn't think of a valid reason why any mother would write her daughter something like that. We (yes, me and my co-Awkward obsessors analyze these things) were wondering if Jenna's mom blames her for the youth she missed out on because she got pregnant with her. I watched Season 1 again just a few weeks back and there was this scene after prom preparations and Lacey tears up and hugs Jenna and says "I'm sorry." Maybe she was saying sorry to Jenna for sending her that letter.

Anyhoo, season 2 starts with Christmas Day and Jenna receives a diamond necklace from her mom and...

a box of condoms from her dad. Hence the show's name- Awkward.

Jenna likes Jake but she likes Matty MORE, which is unfair to Jake. She wanted to teach Matty a lesson but at Jake's expense. Only Jenna is in a win-win situation- ang haba ng hair ng lola mo!

I feel sorry for Jake because he's totally clueless (but not for long) of Jenna and Matty's past. I don't feel too sorry for Matty because even in his distraught state, he still looks fine ;) **ahjumma moment lang** Matty reminds me of Dan Humprhrey pre-Serena van der Woodsen. Matty wants a second chance and although Jenna wants to give him that, she can't just leave Jake alone. She has come clean to Jake that she's given up her v-card to someone and Jake's totally jealous of that guy- just wait 'til he finds out it's to McKibben.

Aside from boy problems, Jenna's also dealing with her mom issues. This episode ended with Jenna handing her mom this~

It breaks my heart. Okay, she deserved this. But still Jenna's parents are getting separated over this!

I can't wait for the next episode!! Gah, I'm so excited ☺ Wishing it's Friday again already. And oh, I forgot to mention that Ricky Schwartz's much easier on the eyes this season

cos in season 1, he really looked like a sleazeball. Hooray for Ricky Schwartz's makeover!

awkward...er.

You guys, I am so frickin' excited! So Valley Girl, no? I guess that is the effect of reading too much YA books. I'm currently reading Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall and I swear brain cells are dying per minute I am reading that book- but I stick through whatever book it is I am reading, through thick and thin and I am still hopeful for a redeeming factor in the end. ANYWAY... Awkward is just 14 days away!!! 

I CAN'T WAIT. I'm super duper mega over excited already :D I'm so giddy with excitement and I cannot be any more redundant than this. The only con of Awkward is it is only 20 minutes long short, then we'd have to wait for seven days again for a new episode. Actually, that's seven days if we're lucky. Sometimes, they won't release a new episode for weeks and that is just pure agony. I just hope there'll be more episodes this season as opposed to season one's 12. 

Team Matty or Team Jake, that is the question.

After seeing season 2's trailer, I am even more confused. I'm right down there the middle. 50/50. Almost everyone I know who also watched the series were the same. Well at first we were all for Jake cos we thought Matty's only playing Jenna but when it has become clearer how Matty truly feels for Jenna, our dilemma begins. 

Is it just me or Matty reminds me of Dan Humphrey. Of course, Matty is waaaay hotter and cuter. I guess it's just the hair. 

OMG, I missed you sooo much and now you're only 14 days away :) I can deal with that ♥
