I. Sabaw.

Huhu I haven't read a single book since Lucky in Love and that was two months ago!! Shameful! Things have gotten very busy plus I got busy with work, too, and it's hard to work and read at the same time; it's easier to work and watch my Korean series or Forensic Files on Netflix. LOL.

source
Speaking of Netflix, I just finished watching The Kissing Booth and I liked it ♥ Me lurves teenybopper, no-brainer, clandestine love stories. Reminded me of The DUFF which I enjoyed so, so
much. I want more of these!!! Please, Netflix!!!

Another Netflix find was The Boss. It was funny but not as funny as this joke

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! #sorrynotsorry

My sister said it's corny. Wapakels. Funny siya para sa akin.

So yun lang. Just want to document how I distract myself from the pathetic emptiness of my meaningless, consumer-driven life. Charots.

MOVIE MUSINGS

I'm quite proud of the movies I've seen this year- most are local! Huzzah ☺☺☺ And guess what, I liked most of them. I actually haven't seen one local movie this year which made me feel bad to have spent 200 of my hard-earned bukels (which I could've spent on half pound of Frankie's salted egg flavored chicken wings instead). This February, I was able to watch Sakaling Hindi Makarating and I'm Drunk I Love You.

Thoughts On Sakaling Hindi Makarating

via
To be honest, I've never related to anything about break ups because I've never gone through one. Blessing in disguise, if you ask me. Lol. What I liked about the movie was the breathtaking scenery of the different provinces in the country. My favorite was Batanes. Pero sabi ni ate wala daw magagawa doon. Ang ganda ng tubig pero hindi ka puede mag-swimming kasi baka pag-ahon mo, nasa Taiwan ka na. Haha.

For the nth time, I was able to guess the movie's ending. I don't know if others were able to guess the real deal regarding the post cards or I'm just getting so good at guessing movie endings.

I liked the quietness of the movie.
I liked the twist at the end which gave them both the closures they needed.
I just think it's foolish to use up your life's savings to look for something you're not even sure what (or who) it is you're looking for. Then again, it's just a movie. Or maybe people nursing broken hearts really do these things. I have no idea.

Thoughts On I'm Drunk, I Love You

via
Before AC and I watched, I asked my niece who already saw the movie if it was any good. Sabi niya, 'okay lang.' So again, didn't really expect anything. I'm in it for the eye candy (Read: Paulo Avelino). Harharhar!

We were 25 minutes late (parang Michael Learns to Rock na kanta yan ah) but I think we didn't miss out on anything important scene or detail about their relationship. I was just thinking if Carson (Maja's character) purposely delayed her graduation just to be near Dio (Paulo Avelino). You know, things we do for, ahem, love.

If I wasn't able to relate to SHM, dito relate na relate ako. And I don't even drink. It's all about that unrequited love shizz, yo!

This movie, saksak puso levels. Maybe it is more agonizing liking your close friend as compared to liking someone from afar. Liking someone from afar, medyo you know where you stand- waley sa buhay niya, haha. Whereas if you're BFFs, merong slight na 'what if' thoughts nagging you inside your head. Reminds me so much of my favorite MTV shows, Friendzoned. You have to choose just one. Cos if you confess and the feeling ain't mutual, there is no turning back. You'll never go back to how it used to be.

I liked Carson, Maja's character (and usually I do not like Maja nor any of her characters) because she is so relatable and she played the role so well. Maybe AC's right, they're giving Maja too mature roles. They should give her fun, youthful projects. Mas bet ko siya sa ganun.
I liked Paulo Avelino in the movie, of course. And for once, he wasn't the kontrabida with mental health issues. Haha.
I liked how this movie is very close to home, how everyone (I guess) has experienced liking someone who just never saw us the same way. And also liking someone for far too long, for holding out that long for hopes that they might eventually know your worth. According nga sa SHM, ano naman ang 11 (o seven, in reference to this movie) years compared to the rest of your life. Patient ka lang talaga.
I liked the music. Very in keeping with the theme of the movie.

Stab me in the heart with a rusty spoon, why don't you. A lot of memories just came back but boy oh boy, I'm just glad that I'm all over pining. Manhid nako, haha. But seriously, I don't have crushes or don't get infatuated over someone anymore. I just get kilig over kdramas or go into ahjumma-mode over Korean boys with abs. LOL. Walang basagan ng trip.

Soooo I just liked the movie, no. That ending was perfect. I want to watch it all over again. Yes, that is the masochist in me. Nyehehe.

Movie Musings: The DUFF

Ever since I found out that they're making The DUFF into a movie, I've been very very VERY excited about it. I loved the book so much even if I think it's a little too makamundo for high school kids. So anyway, when I found out nga they're making the book into a movie, I only had high hopes. How could you go wrong on something so easy to make? No special effects needed! But yeah, they botched it alright.

Umm, medyo skeptical na ako when I saw the trailer because they're not the characters I had in mind. But I gave it a chance. Malay ko naman, diba?

{image credits}
First of all, I think they can do better than this Wesley Rush. The movie's Wesley Rush isn't not handsome. He is but not quite how I envision my Wesley Rush. I really really really wish they got someone else, someone like him.

I haven't changed my mind yet. He still is my Wesley and I think he's good at douchebaggery. With Bianca, I'd still prefer that actress who played Schmidt's fat girlfriend in New Girl

she's cute and I bet she can do funny, too
over Mae Whitman. Well I guess this happens when your favorite book's made into a movie. Because you want every bit and piece perfectly executed and more often than not, the movie adaptation falls short.

But I'm very very disappointed about was that they sort of changed the story. And not just a wee bit, might I add. They stuck to with the DUFF concept but they changed everything else. What I loved pa naman with the book was Bianca and Wesley's clandestine relationship and I'm not talking about the sensei-student Bianca and Wesley movie versions had in the film. Heck, they even made Bianca stay with her mother. The movie was a totally different story from the book, like a teenage version of Pretty Woman meets Pretty in Pink and pretty much any high school movie where the popular boy falls for the ordinary girl. The DUFF had that twist and they removed it. Disappointed talaga ako.

why talaga
Sana iniba na lang nila ang title. The shouldn't have claimed it was a movie adaptation of the book. Cos although it wasn't actually a bad movie, I still maintain that they should've remained faithful to the original story. Inisip ko na lang baka masyadong risque for teenagers (their target audience) kaya iniba nila, but then again these books are much more risque and they're not even censored.

I want to read The DUFF again to erase the movie's version on my mind. Why did Kody Keplinger agree to this? Why?!?!?!?!

Pick Flick: Maybe This Time

Totally random, unplanned movie date with mommy and daddy. After finally transferring our TITF account, I was able to convince mommy to treat me to a movie, kahit treat ko na ang merienda. But since mommy already got her pension, merienda was also on her. Huzzah!

Sarah Geronimo movies are my guilty pleasures. Semi-closet fan ako ni SG. Hahaha. Pero seryoso, I really like this girl kahit may pagka-OA siya at kalurks ang sing-song voice niya sa mga pelicula niya. However, this movie with Coco Martin isn't exactly one of my highly-anticipated, must-see-in-the-cinemas movie of Sarah. Sorry Star Cinema, wit sila chemistry. And oh, masakit sa bangs ang pagsasalita ni Coco, which in fairness, the role calls for.

We missed the first few minutes of the movie but you know these movies doesn't really require that you watch it right from the start nor your full attention to actually get it. So Coco and Sarah had a mutual anderstanding (that's according to Coco) when they were younger. But circumstances kept them apart and fast forward seven years later, they meet again... as what often happens in the "small world" that is a movie. But of course things are more complicated seven years later: may unresolved feelings, walang closure at may Amazonang girlfriend. But we all knew how this was going to end, right?

That is why I really liked Starting Over Again. At first you'd think Piolo and Toni would end up together at the end of the movie, hence the title. They didn't and I loved it. That confrontation scene of Toni and Iza was instrumental to how the movie ended because if it didn't happen, Piolo's character could have ended up with Toni. So in SOA, walang happy ending. But Maybe This Time, it'll be lovin' they'll find. Hahaha!

In fair to Ruffa G's character, nakakahiya naman talaga yung character ni Coco Martin. Umm.. maybe not the person per se, but I totally get where Ruffa's character is coming from. She is sort of in public relations and communications where image is very important. However, Coco's past as a seaman and a caregiver is not something to be embarrassed about. Atsaka 'day, hindi matuturo ang correct grammar at good diction sa isang linggo. Hinayaan mo na lang sana siyang magtayo ng pernichur shap. Hehe.

So let's save the inevitable for last. Again, Star Cinema used a song title for their movie title. Corny and unimaginative but forgivable. They do make good romcom's after all. Baka coming up with good movie titles just isn't their strong suit. And you know what else isn't one of their strong suit? WIGS. GAAAHD SERIOUSLY? What's it with Star Cinema movies and wigs? Nung mahaba buhok ni Sarah sa Sarah-John Lloyd trilogy, pinapasuot niyo siya ng short hair na wig. Ngayon namang short ang hair niya, pinapasuot niyo ng long hair na wig. I am not against wearing wigs. I am against wearing bad wigs. Palitan na ang supplier. At 'wag bigyan ng jacket yan!

It was an okay movie. Not a waste of a fraction of my mom's monthly pension, but if given a do-over, I'd wait for it in Cinema One. Sorry, wala silang chemistry. Hindi ako kinilig. Not even once.

If Sarah + Coco = Neon + Hydrogen
Then, Sarah + Coco = NO ATTRACTION

Pick Flick: The Fault In Our Stars

I almost didn't watch this movie. Almost. Because I sort of hate getting on the bandwagon and, seriously, Facebook is teeming with everything The Fault In Our Stars (TFIOS) since early this year. Not that I hate it but it ticks me a little when people just read something just because everyone else is reading it. Well I am also guilty of doing this (ahem, Fifty Shades of Grey) but I don't put it on Facebook for everyone to know. And now that the TFIOS movie's out, everyone's posting about it on every social media. And the last straw was when I was on an FX going home with these teenage (not-so) boys and they were talking about the book and he's just not telling it correctly and accurately. Ang lakas pa man din ng boses niya. I was super tempted to tell him to shut up already. But after a meeting last Friday, AD has her complimentary tickets and I still have two hours to kill; ergo...

Surprisingly, I liked the movie. Maybe not having any expectations helped and maybe because I didn't like the casting. I used to like Shailene Woodley in The Secret Life of an American Teenage circa Season 1 but not so much right now. And the guy who plays Augustus Waters (gaaahd, now I'm reminded of these teenage (not-so) boys in the FX and their discussion of how chaka the name Augustus Waters is. Like, who would name their son Augustus Waters daw. Blech. Shut up already!), umm, I didn't like him at first but he sort of grows on you. Actually, he's like a better-looking, less awkward version of Michael Cera. If Ansel Elgort had a nerdy older brother, it would be Michael Cera. Hahaha! So anyway, Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort both played their characters very well. They both portrayed it beautifully.

Of course I already knew how it would end but since I read this a year ago already, a lot of details I already have forgotten. Being that I am a sucker for sad albeit beautiful endings, I really loved this book and I am thankful that I did watch this movie because I was reminded of why I gave it five stars (ha!).
Yes. All the feels!
And because I already knew the ending, I really thought and am really convinced that I wouldn't cry. But I did. Dammit. Loved it and it was beautiful and who cares whether or not they were faithful to the book.

And oh, since it was already TFIOS's second screening week, a lot of senior citizens were also watching. I was seated to this group of elderly ladies and I overheard one say, "ano ba itong napanuod natin." Hahaha! Nothing like cancer to remind one of his/her impending doom and I think granny doesn't want to reminded.

Update Time!

I noticed that most of my posts are all about the books I've read and there's nothing about what's happening in my life and while there's really nothing of significance happening in it, allow me to bore you with the most mundane things.

First off, my favorite TV series have all premiered (except for Suburgatory). I was most excited about Hart of Dixie but I must say I am a tad bit disappointed with the first three episodes. First, there was no Jonah Breeland. I was so rooting for him and Zoe but look what Zoe lugged into Bluebell

The boyfriend, Joel, seemed very much like a nerd (not that I don't like nerds because I adore nerds but nerds who look like John Cusack, Shia LaBeouf or Dan Humphrey from GG Season 1) and as of now, he is not showing any signs of asshole-ness, but still the question is- WHERE IS JONAH BREELAND? Can we like break this two up and put Jonah in the scene? I am so itching to find out what ever happened between Zoe and Jonah over the course of five months in New York City, what ever happened during that night after the wedding. I need to know ASAP. But all I could do is wait, albeit impatiently.

And gaahd, do not get me started on George Tucker. During the latter parts of the second season, I was already iffy if my vote is still on George (because Wade really seemed to like Zoe and he's sort of growing on me (but I still think the abs did it for me LOL) and Jonah is charming and cute) but I feel that my loyalty is with George and I am the only person I know who's rooting for him. I guess I didn't love him unconditionally. I was against his relationship with Tansy and I am definitely against whatever it is he has with this Linley. Right now, George Tucker has lost my vote. I am definitely rooting for Jonah, 100% percent.

How I Met Your Mother is, as usual, very funny and never fails to pick me up on a bad day. However, it's impending end makes me sad. It always happens with series I love- you can't wait for it to end so you'll know how it'll end up but when the end is near, you don't want it to end just yet. I do not feel the same with New Girl. I am disappointed with the first few episodes and I am so bored with what's happening in that show. Now that Jessica and Nick are an item, there's nothing to look forward to. I dunno...

Awkward. Now, this show has come back from hiatus and the continuation of its third season was kick-ass. It was a little expected but I didn't know it would be this soon. Come to think of it, Jenna has always had problems with being faithful. She cheated on Matty with Jake. She cheated on Jake with Matty. And now, she's cheating on Matty with Colin. Clearly, the girl has never been contented with what she has. I guess Sadie might be right on this one~ that Jenna could be a hideous skank. But then again, Colin is soo fine
ahjumma moment :P
Last season I never even liked Colin but after reading The Duff and thought of Colin as Wesley Rush, he suddenly becomes hot. Haha. Plus, although I found Matty cute before, this is how he looks like now

Now, don't you agree with me that Colin is so much hotter than Matty? Well, first it was Jake who suddenly didn't look cute and now, Matty. Matty, show your abs.. quick! Haha. Omigosh, I am officially an ahjumma. But still, Colin's hotness doesn't justify Jenna's cheating. I am so excited for the next episode ☺

So now we're done with my series. Oh, I joined a bazaar in a mall first week of October and I just recovered my rent for the space. I don't know if I'd join their next bazaars being that I never ROI. I really thought this time would be better since it's nearer Christmas and people might be in the mood to shop for gifts already. Well I was wrong. People still aren't buying for Christmas gifts and there was typhoon in the metro at the time and I was feeling under the weather. But I was able to give out my cards so I just hope I'll get orders from those two stints.

By the way, a leasing manager is interested in giving me a space in a mall. I don't know. I don't think I'm ready yet and I don't know if I can pull off a mall space. Mall rent is helluva expensive, for one, and I need to pay someone to man the shop. Personally, I don't think this is possible given my financial state and my sister and I are more interested in doing consignment deals where there is no overhead expenses. However, my mom thinks I should do it. Sabi niya she'd help me but I'm just very skeptical right now and knowing my mother, if I remind her about helping me on this one, moral support na naman ibibigay sa'kin nun.

I've been feeling very lethargic and a little down in the dumps recently. I don't know if the hormones are to blame or the meds. I am usually happy at this time of the year because I love love love Christmas. I love hearing Christmas songs on the radio and the smell of tinsels. I don't what is it with this year that I do not feel the same. I hope by next month I feel better. I was thinking nga maybe I should visit tumblr more often again for inspiration, be positive shizz. Speaking of tumblr, I got this in my email last week

Wow that was already five years!?! Amazing. I started tumblr when only very, very few people were into it. I love tumblr and love it more than Pinterest and I have so much to be thankful for it because it is where I get my feel-good shizz from. So baka nagpaparamdam lang si tumblr, alam niya na medyo down ako ngayon kaya sabi niya, 'Hi, andito lang ako.' Haha.

Stop comparing where you're at with where everyone else is. It doesn't move you farther ahead, improve your situation, or help you find peace. It just feeds your shame, fuels your feelings of inadequacy, and ultimately, it keeps you stuck. The reality is that there is no one correct path in life. Everyone has their own unique journey. A path that's right for someone else won't necessarily be a path that's right for you. And that's okay. Your journey isn't right or wrong, good or bad. It's just different. Your life isn't meant to look like anyone else's because you aren't like anyone else. You're a person all your own with a unique set of goals, obstacles, dreams and needs. So stop comparing and start living. You may have not ended up where you intended to go. But trust, for once, that you have ended up where you needed to be. Trust that you are in the right place at the right time. Trust that your life is enough. Trust that you are enough. -- Daniell Koepke
I seriously should stop checking Facebook all the frickin' time because the yabang people are getting to me. I was with a friend last week and we were talking about yesteryears and our lives today. I told her that I may have regretted a lot of things I have done or haven't done but I have never regretted not pursuing the law degree. Maybe just once when all my friends and classmates were graduating law school and passing the bar, but after that not anymore. Maybe this time I'm just thinking too much. I should stop thinking too much and start working. But I feel so weak and bloated and lethargic. Maybe I should start exercising. That'd be like hitting two birds with one stone- I'd lose some weight and when I exercise I'd produce endorphins and endorphins will make me happy. Ergo, I will zumba tomorrow. No excuses, okay?

So yesterday I watched a movie with mommy. Usually I do not go with my mommy because almost always, we end up bickering about the most walang kwenta things like commercials on TV or opposing opinions about just about anything. Well, I was feeling sad nga and I needed a pick-me-upper and what better pick-me-upper than watching a movie. I did pay for it pero keri lang, libre naman ni mommy ang merienda-cena. So we watched She's The One. First and foremost, ang ganda ng skin ni Bea. Second, kudos to finally having a nose job because she looks so much better now. Her schnoz used to bug me big time (I have ugly schnoz, uglier than her then-schnoz, but then again I am not on TV) and I really wanted her to get a nose job and finally she did. Yay! Now she looks so much prettier and I do not get distracted by her nose anymore.

Regarding the movie... it was pretty okay, nice. Alam mo bilib talaga ako sa Star Cinema movies. After TGIS, I never really liked Dingdong Dantes but this movie made me not not like him. Feeling ko mas may future siya sa ABS or GMA needs to hire better writers (with dramas with titles such as Yesterday's Bride, they definitely need new writers). The movie was a little bit cheesy and there was this part where it got super cheesy that I almost puked. That was the part where Enrique Gil met the girl in the rain aka Bea after posting his plea online. If I were the girl, sobrang mako-kornihan ako. Ang jeje no. Anyway, being a story about best friends who were secretly in love with each other (sadyang dense lang sila), I am reminded right away of my Sienna+Nick story, so I am now re-reading This Is A Love Story.

It was a nice story. Medyo cliché but I guess everything's a cliché nowadays.

Just a an update on something new: AC, AD and I ate at this new Mexican restaurant in Kapitolyo- Silantro. Because I love silantro (wansoy) and I love love love its smell- I enjoyed the food tremendously
nachos with lotsa cheese!!
pork ribs. ribs talaga.
burrito
All with silantro dip. Nom nom  nom~

And on that note, I bid you adieu ♥ Here's wishing to a better tomorrow!

Recreation Therapy: Four Sisters & a Wedding

Wow, it's been a while since I last wrote a movie entry. I noticed that I dedicated this year mostly on books and TV series. I have been introduced to more amazing TV shows (ie. Elementary) and re-introduced to Korean dramas, so that took up most of my time. Aside from reading and watching TV shows, I have been more active than usual with my business and the "R&D" aspect of it. In fernez, may life na ako. Haha!

So I took my "EA" (naks!) on a movie date. It was her 18th birthday last May and since May was a very busy month for us (AB's homecoming, Daddy's 70th birthday), we weren't able to celebrate her birthday. Took her to Glorietta to watch Four Sisters and a Wedding.

It was actually a choice between this and the new Marian Rivera movie. I thought she would choose the latter, her being a Marian fan. I am fine with whatever she chooses.

Although we were 15 minutes late, I think we didn't miss anything. I think we missed the flashback scene and I'm perfectly okay with it because I hate flashback scenes- hindi lahat ng teleserye at pelikula ay dapat magsimula sa pagkabata, no? Anyway, I liked the movie. I guess everyone who has siblings would be able to relate to it. I hate tearjerker movies cos I hate crying in the cinemas. I mean, I couldn't go all-out hagulgol, diba? And I was caught off-guard. I knew we were watching a comedy film. I should've suspected it already. Family-themed movies usually make one cry cos it's too close to home. In the middle of the movie, the EA looked at me intently and said, "Ate, umiiyak ka rin?" Haha. Huli.

So even if my head hurt from controlled crying I did, I did enjoy this one. The headache's worth it.

Just a few comments about the movie:

  1. Hindi naman ganun ka-"chararat" si Angeline Quinto, ah? Lalo na if the description came from Toni Gonzaga's character. Coming form Bea, mas acceptable pa.
  2. Since we weren't able to watch it right from the start, bakla ba si Frodo? Na-confuse talaga ako.
  3. Hindi naman masyadong halata na struggling sila. They live in a big house, for crying out loud. We're seven in the family and our house is nowhere near theirs.
That's it, pansit ☺

project 102: the amazing spiderman

Very random movie day-out with A today. Was supposed to go on a Rooftop Prince marathon at home but when A asked if I wanted to watch Spiderman, I said 'yes' in a heartbeat. Who doesn't like free movies, ya?

The Amazing Spiderman was amazing! I knew I had to watch it because I looooove Emma Stone ♥

Why I love the newest Spiderman movie:

Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy stumps Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane Waston.

source
Okay, I'm really ignorant with the original story in the comics but according to those sitting behind us in the cinema, Gwen Stacy is Peter Parker's first love. But if she is Peter's first love and this was in high school, where did MJ enter the scene? In my opinion, MJ is a step-down from Stacy. Stacy is pretty and smart and judging by Stone's outfits, dresses way cuter than MJ. MJ is shallow and a skank and not that cute (sorry, biased opinion here. Ever since Kirsten Dunst starred in that Savage Garden video, I started to dislike her) and her outfits aren't that cute. So yeah, whatever... I'm heartbroken that Peter had to end it. According to Wikipedia, MJ eventually became Peter's wife. So does that mean he doesn't love Gwen as much as he loves MJ? I demand a recount. Charot.

Andrew Garfield may be scrawny but man, are those muscles I see?

Wee! Nothing makes an ahjumma happier than seeing muscles. Haha. Honestly, I am not a msucle 'shipper. I don't get googly-eyed over half-naked men with pandesal abs nor over that controversial Philippine Volcanoes underwear ad. But when you take a scrawny-looking guy in a big shirt then later on find out that there are legit muscles inside, ayy... ¡me gusta! I mean, who knew that this

I apologize for that totally ahjumma moment, okay? But aside from those biceps, I love this version of Peter Parker's geekiness. Pero ang haba ng leeg niya, no?

The Chemistry.

They're so cute together. I 'ship them ♥ Maybe it helps that they're also a couple off-screen? They're absolutely adorable.

source
That upside down kiss? Pssshhh... Overrated.

Off-screen pictures together:

I love them together although I am not keeping my hopes us. After all, this is Hollywood where 10 years in a relationship/marriage is a feat. I do wish they last though...

May Asosasyon ng Crane Operators sa New York

All cranes to the 54th! Who knew, right? Spiderman helped the right person- ang presidente ng NYCODA- New York Crane Operators & Drivers Association. Without him, Spiderman wouldn't have reached the Oscorp Tower in time.

Tearjerker Moments

When Uncle Ben got stabbed and Captain Stacy died- got teary-eyed both times. It also made me sad when the Captain made Peter promise to not drag Gwen in his complicated superhero life. And oh, that moment when Gwen just walks past Peter in the school hallway- I think I just heard my heart breaking into a million pieces :(

Loves it. Didn't even notice the movie was 2.5 hours long. The story was similar to the first one Tobey Maguire did but it didn't make you feel like you've been duped because you're just seeing the same movie because it still is different. You kinda know what's going to happen next but still you're still all-eyes on screen waiting for the next scene. I loooove Emma Stone!!! I need to watch Easy A again soon.
She's so funnnneh!

Me! Me! Me! I do not like 3D!!!

project 102: unofficially yours

If it's a John Lloyd movie, you betcha I will be watching if not on the first day.... anytime during its first week. Fangirl much?

In the absence of my usual movie dates (AB, Ycel and Juno), I was in search of my new movie date and found her in the person of my ol' friend, A. Last Saturday while we were watching the Rachel-Dingdong free concert at Eastwood, I made her promise to watch it with me. And so we did watch yesterday at Megamall (btw, they have this new ticketing system which I don't really get the logic of but maybe so they could better track the number of people who watched the movie but then again can't they do that in their computer systems already? just wondering) And in fernez ha, considering it's 4pm on a weekday, the balcony section was full.

Gaaahd, sobrang benta sakin si John Lloyd, I swear! I might have annoyed A cos I kept on telling her "ang cute cute ni John Lloyd!!!" na kilig na kilig. To which she also kept replying with, "cute umarte. sa movie lang." Okay, fine. I will not refute cos sources tell me that he's actually masungit in real life and I question his taste on girls (Ciara Sotto!!! Shaina!!! que horror!) Whatever.

So here's are my thoughts about the movie:

  1. Medyo cliche. Formula na and very predictable. [But who cares? I am only in it for John Lloyd] Actually reminded me of Matty & Jenna. But anyway, it still was a nice watch.
  2. Finally! A Star Cinema movie without wigs and a song title as its title. FINALLY. Though I bet Angel has hair extensions which is perfectly okay and I am actually envious of her locks. How can I get my hair to look like that?
  3. I'm not so sure if my observation is correct but I've noticed that in almost all of his movies, JL is the kawawa party. Maybe except for two movies with Sarah G. But really, he's so good at it... being kawawa, I mean.
  4. Which makes me wonder- are there guys who are like that? Because I am not in the know with matters like that but from stories, I deduced that the guys are always the reason for break-ups. I hate it that movies like this make me assume there are still good guys around. Not that I am still hoping because right now, at this time of my life, I'm up for whatever life throws at me. Make lemons into lemonades nga diba? But let us modify whatever. Whatever that still lies within normal hehe.
  5. The Tabing Ilog connection! Patrick Garcia and John Lloyd together in a movie takes me down memory lane. My Sunday afternoon habit, right after ASAP. Haha. Oh childhood...
  6. Ang cheesy! And I got that right out from a JL pizza tvc, haha! But omg, do people really use lines such as "Hindi naman sa hindi ako napapagod masaktan, hindi lang siguro ako nagsasawang magmahal." Diba? I just can't imagine anyone using this line. I just can't.
  7. They didn't give me an ending. Technically, they did but I want to know if Cess (Angel Locsin) still pursued the Singapore post she was offered. What I don't get is Singapore's pretty near and with Cebupac's piso fares, I guess workable naman ang long distance relationship. Plus, if he really wants to cheat, gagawa at gagawa nang paraan malapit o malayo man.
So there, my two cents on the movie. Just my personal chukchakchenes. I'm excited for the rumored John Lloyd-Sarah movie this year.

project 102: blue valentine

Learned about the movie while perusing the pages of W Magazine. While I like Michelle Williams as an actress, dating way back during her Dawson's Creek days (pro-Jen Lindley here because I super detest Joey Potter), I didn't really follow her career and watch her movies. The article was a joint interview with co-star in the movie, Ryan Gosling. Not because it's Valentine's Day tomorrow but the article was pretty effective which led to this pseudo review. Hehe.

Love conquers all. Apparently not, according to the movie. Maybe because they didn't really have a foundation. It all started with a one-night-stand-ish thing when one thing led to another, et voila, girl got pregnant and boy stood by her. Though in fernez to the boy, he was already smitten with her the first time he saw her and even until the end I am convinced that he loves her very, very much.

But can you blame the girl when he started looking like this

then he ended up looking like this

He looks creepy, no?

So aside from that superficial reason, I guess Cindy (Williams) fell out of love that easily because she lost respect for him. Okay, it's sweet when Dean (Gosling) told her that he doesn't have any goal or ambitions nor he never really thought that he'd get married one day and have kids but now that he has a wife and a kid, it's all he ever wants to be right now- a husband and a father. But would you really want to be with someone who doesn't have dreams and aspirations? One thing I learned (from observations), love will not keep you alive but money will.

Another reason why Cindy may have resented marrying Dean was she wasn't able to pursue her own dreams and ambitions as well. She wanted to become a doctor but that has become a distant dream. She felt she had so much potential, that she could have been a good doctor but having a child, getting married got in the way.

Well, I don't really respect guys like Dean who doesn't have goals and ambitions but he is a good person and I feel he genuinely loves his family. Science says that love only lasts for a certain period of time and then it fizzles so after that love becomes a decision. And effort, imho. But when you're both a hindrance to each other, maybe it's really time to let go so they can both reach their full potential.

It's ironic how everything began and ended with tears, an embrace and a kiss.

It's a beautiful movie. Sad but beautiful. Not really what I need on a gloomy and rainy Monday but feeling depressed for an hour and a half is well worth it.

Project 100: My Valentine Girls

Guilty pleasure time! Lakwatsa day today with BFF Armida. I already texted her yesterday if we could watch this movie and she asked if this was the one with Eugene Domingo in it. Thank God Eugene Domingo is in it or else I would watch it alone. No, I won't be caught dead watching a baduy movie ALONE. At least I need an accomplice. A fall guy. Haha. We had lunch in Shang and since Shangri-la cinemas don't show baduy movies (except John Lloyd movies which, in my opinion, aren't baduy), we walked all the way to Megamall to watch My Valentine Girls. OMG, I'm such a fangirl (which A doesn't know. guilty pleasure nga eh)

A's MTRCB card already expired but thanks to Citibank's subsidized movie passes. But the movie cost 180 bucks... quite expensive to think that this is in Megamall and a local, baduy movie (and not even John Lloyd film). But what the heck... Three stories in one movie, kinda like Shake Rattle & Roll, cursi version.

  1. In the first story, Soulmates, there were inconsistencies such as how was Rhian able to hail and ride a cab when she herself is supposedly a "ghost." Why do things pass right through Richard but not Rhian?
  2. Also in Soulmates, can someone please explain how one date to Enchanted Kingdom make two people soul mates? I mean, they were not even humans when their 'date' happened. Eto ang hindi ko magets sa movies, how could spending one day or night kahit sabihin pang one whole day yan eh magfa-fall in love truly, madly, deeply na kayo with each other?
  3. In Soulmates still. Don't you find it funny that their houses are empty. Their rooms are empty. Hell, even their closets are empty. Mas mukha pang bahay ang ospital.
  4. In the second story BBF... I may be a bit biased because I'm a Solenn fan. Gosh, I still can't believe I'm admitting that here. Anyway, it's your run-of-the-mill best friends who are secretly in love with each other story. Wala man lang a little something extra. Though this story could have been much better without Lovi Poe in it. Kelangan ba talagang ganun magsalita? Sheesh.
  5. A asked why does short skirts look okay on Rhian but looks skimpy and slutty on Lovi?
  6. Still on BBF. That shooting incident seemed off. Do they really have to include that there. They could've done without it, imo. At kung nasa tama kang ulirat, you wouldn't somewhere there's a fight. Kung anu-t-ano pa man, that scene's just plain stupid.
  7. The last story, Gunaw, was the redeeming factor of the trilogy. Just as I thought I already grew tired of Eugene Domingo's acting, she proved me wrong. A and I were laughing our heads off. Wait, I think we were laughing our heads off during that chanting scene. Kung matupad nga naman ang wish mo, ano? Kinabog ng scene na ito ang isang episode ng Kristine dahil sa dami ng half-naked boys!
  8. Gunaw reminded me of the Walking Dead but with horrendous prosthetic because their zombies didn't look like zombies at all. They looked like burnt victims. And not that I'm taking this seriously but their zombies are pretty fast moving. Meron pa kamong nagma-marathon!
  9. Here's the shocker: in the middle of the third story, the screen went black and the lights were turned on. Then I saw security guards going inside the cinema. I was panicking already cos I thought there was some sort of emergency or whatever tapos the people started screaming. Turned out the actors paid a visit! There was Richard Gutierrez, Solenn Heusaff and Lovi Poe and that tiyanak there in front of the cinema. They just wanted to thank everyone who's watching and that we tell our friends to watch also. Galing ng style ha.
  10. In fairness to GMA Films, their film title didn't come from a song. They could have easily named it Suddenly It's Magic or I Feel So Free It's Like A Fantasy. Well, it's not really creative and original but still A for effort. Though ang pangit ng musical scoring (parang galing sa ilalim ng lupa ang music) at ng editing (transition from one scene to another wasn't smooth, kumbaga sa cellphone call, choppy). Sorry, but my heart still belongs to Star Cinema when it comes to local rom-coms.
Now we know why the movie is more expensive- may special appearance kasi ng mga artista. By the way, speaking of artistas, I saw Aubrey Miles and Troy Montero in Shangri-la. Also Gabby Eigenmann. Then Richard G, Solenn and Lovi in the cinema.

pick flick: easy A

One post before I retire for the day. I was supposed to do labels and stuff today yesterday but AD asked if I could go to her office which, technically, is conveniently located in a mall so she could show me the computer table she would give as a Christmas gift to me, the shoes she wants to buy for herself and to bring that paper on which I traced daddy's shoe size. Since I only hitched a ride with Vicky, with whom I got into a screamfest just yesterday over chimichangas' fight, who was in a hurry, I forgot to bring daddy's shoe size. Well, my pride's pretty cheap- I'd rather hitch a ride with her til the nearest MRT station than spend a little less than 100 (and of course, the effort) if I commute.

I can watch anything with my freebie ticket except Megamind in 3D and Unstoppable. Choice was between Megamind and Easy A. Although I enjoyed the last cartoon movie I watched which was Despicable Me, I was not that keen on watching another one too soon. Besides, I could watch that on DVD na lang since I was more excited to see Easy A.
Aside from watching movies, I also enjoy watching movie trailers which you wouldn't be able to do if you're watching DVDs at home. Speaking of trailers, I saw this Warrior's Way trailer with Jang Dong-gun as the lead. Oh wow! I'm so proud of my Asian brothas, lol. Actually more than that, I'm just giddy that he'll be starring in an international movie because I used to watch his Korean dramas and movies. Nag-level up na siya: from Hallyu to Hollywood. And also, I think I saw Chester Bennington in Saw 3D's trailer. Sellout. Joke ;) I think I want to watch Saw in 3D.
  1. Because I got in into the middle of the movie, it was Amanda Bynes's face I first saw and my first reaction was: "I thought she's retired from acting?" Looks like I didn't get the memo. But I'm glad she's back cos I am a fan and I do enjoy her movies (Sydney White, She's the Man). And dayum, she's pretty leggy... I am envious!
  2. Though this is only the second Emma Stone movie I've seen (House Bunny being the first), I can say that I ♥ Emma Stone! She is so funny. Her lisp distracts me though. Still, I think she's genius. I love it how she makes those facial expressions and actions cos she seems so real and how she's not afraid to make herself 'ugly.' I'm not sure as to her other movies but it seems to me that she always plays the role of a geek chick. I wonder if she's a nerd in real life. I especially loved that Pocketful of Sunshine bit. Hilarious. I can frickin' relate with her when it comes to being able to amuse her own self because I can do that. And oh, I love her room! I want that room!
  3. The only thing I know of this movie is that Emma Stone's starring in it and it's about this rumor that's absolutely false. I totally had no idea as to the other actors who'll be in it. Imagine my surprise when Dan aka Penn Badgley entered the scene. Gah! Bumalik crush ko sa kanya, circa Gossip Girl season 1. So maybe only Dan the character is what's turning me off against Penn Badgley; otherwise, I still find him cute.
  4. I remember third year high school in this movie not for anything else but because it was when we read Scarlet Letter and were asked to do a book report on it. And so I can perfectly understand the premise of the movie.
  5. I also would want my life to be like an 80s movie! Who doesn't want to be Andie (Molly Ringwald) who scores the good-looking Blaine in Pretty in Pink? Or Keith (Mary Stuart Masterson) who gets the guy in the end in Some Kind of Wonderful? Sadly, my teenage years were devoid of any kilig feelings of the non-fictional kind. This makes me want to have a John Hughes movie marathon soon and, again, vicariously feel the giddiness of teenage love.
  6. I came in late, right? I came in after Olive (Stone) stated that she wanted her life to be an 80s movie and I missed all that reference to them. So I am so proud that I still got the reference to Say Anything when Todd shows up holding headphones blaring Simple Minds' Don't You (Forget About Me). Props to me! See, my obsession for teenybopper films and my frantic search for VCDs (pre-torrents days) paid off :)
I am in love with teenybopper films! After I am done with all these business stuff, I will have a movie marathon of all the teenybopper movies I own and declare it my cheat day so I could gobble down chips and coke while wishing that my high school days were like that. Frickin' exclusive school for girls! Haha.

pick flick: inception

Super na-intriga ako sa movie na ito. I must have seen a bazillion statuses on Facebook, raving about Inception. There was not a single rant. Not that I just want to get on the bandwagon but if this movie's really a good one, I think I shouldn't miss out on this one, see what's the fuss all about.

♥ Mis pensamientos sobre la peli, Inception ♥
  1. I've heard some things about Inception already so I knew it was about dreams. I assumed maybe it would a little like What Dreams May Come or In Dreams, surreal. Yes, it was surreal but not like the two movies I've mentioned. I was expecting colorful graphics but it was dark, actually. I loved it, nonetheless. It was different from what I expected but I loved it.
  2. Yes, I've already concocted in my mind as to how this movie would be and because of people's ravings about it made me expect A LOT. You know me and my expectations. I should've have known better than to assume. I should've have held on all expectations. Siguro kung hindi ako masyado nagpadala sa mga supermegafragilistic-ravings ng mga tao, I would consider this movie as really really good. It was an okay movie for me, though. Dang those FB ravers. They ruined Inception for me. Though I may not consider Inception as one of the greats unlike others, I still loved and enjoyed watching it.
  3. How I would love to be Ellen Page in this movie! Two reasons: 1) she got to be surrounded by good-looking men, and 2) she got kissed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Gah!
  4. Speaking of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, I am totally digging him right now. I used to hate him during his 3rd Rock From the Sun days, thought he was okay in 10 Things I Hate About You but loved him come 500 Days of Summer. He's not the best-looking actor there is in Hollywood but man, I totally have the hots for this bloke. I am so looking forward to his other movies. My gosh, I still can't shake of his image, sleeping and smiling inside that van. **sigh**
  5. And who would have ever thought Leonardo di Caprio would go this far? I really didn't think so. I thought he'd be one of those teenybopper idols who'd be laos right away. I'm glad I was wrong because he's a brilliant actor and he's starred in many good movies such as Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, Inception and will watch Shutter Island after I'm done with my Dexter season 1 marathon.
  6. I like movies that make me think as much as movies that make my brain cells rest. Although I am not 100% sure that I "got" the movie. I think I got it but I am not so sure if I did. Haha. I guess everyone's entitled to their own take on the ending. It got a little confusing lang sometimes because it's a dream within a dream within a dream. Even I don't know what's reality anymore! This movie reminds me of Identity.
  7. Why would people want to stay in their dreams? I'd rather be living in my reality than be stuck in a fake world, right? Even if I can only be with l'amour de ma vie in my dreams, I'd still choose what's real over my make-believe. Or subconscious. Wherever that is. Of course there are some dreams I would want to stay longer in like that dream I had a month ago but I would also want to snap back to reality. Siguro pag feeling mo nananaginip ka lang, gising ka talaga. Parang pag feeling mo nasisira na ulo mo, nasa tamang pag-iisip ka pa din. Huh?
  8. Now that I've seen Inception, I'm kinda scared to dream now. It gave me this notion that I could get stuck in my dreams and die in my sleep. Oooh, that reminds me of bangungot! Like for example when I was a kid, I was told to never sleep on an empty stomach because my soul would get hungry, look for food and would get stuck inside the kalan or the ref and then I would die. I wouldn't want to die in my sleep. I'd feel betrayed if I did because it would mean that death crept up on me and caught me unaware and didn't even give me a chance to make the most of what's left of my life.
  9. And have I told you about my aversion to open-ended endings? Although sometimes I would like to watch movies that requires brain cells, I still prefer that they give me definite endings. I don't care whether it's happy or sad, just give me a definite ending! I love happy endings. I love sad endings. I sorta hate open-ended ones. Nag-iisip nako the entire duration of the movie, please don't make me think even after the movie ends. It's too much for my brain cells to take...

    My thoughts exactly.

Pick Flick: Babe I Love You

What a cheesy poster. Well, a cheesy poster for a cheesy movie, ya? They could have done so much better with the poster. Anubah! Although I did enjoy the movie. I never had any expectations for this movie as it was a last-minute movie trip with my sister. After a crispy pata lunch, we were thinking of what more could we do to make Easter Sunday extra special~ watch this movie. Riiiight.

Three Things About Babe, I Love You:

1. I think Anne Curtis is a good actress. Never mind that I can still oh-so-vividly remember her first appearance on TGIS as that rose-peddling girl with an annoying twang. But she has gone a long, long way since that and her Magic Kingdom days. And love it that she speaks Tagalog impeccably.

2. As opposed to Sam Milby who still has that American accent. Puhleeze, he has been milking Philippine showbiz and the Filipino audience for years now and what better way to show your appreciation than to learn to speak the language.

3. I know it's very judgmental of me to think that a relationship like theirs isn't viable in real life, but really, would you still respect your vice-dean if you found out that he's dating a promo girl whose job description may include sleeping with the client if the price is right? I am not making a generalization here as to all the promo girls, but talking about the movie... she can't even keep count na nga as to how many men she has slept with for money. Plus, he has an uber-critical mom who is very well-respected as well. You know what, I think I (semi) know someone in a similar position. Ya, it may seem cute in the movies but in real life, I could be very well singing a Kanye song right now...

4. Woohoo! to Star Cinema for not using wigs in this movie but boohoo! for still using a line from a popular song as its title. I wanna strangle everyone who was singing "babe, I love you" on their way out of the cinema, including my sister. Waaah! You're one of them!
That's all, short but sweet. Haha. Watched it almost a week ago and last full show pa so medyo wala na ako sa kamalayan so there wasn't much I can remember about the movie except that I enjoyed it. Although the ending was open-ended and I am not a big fan of open-ended endings because I am a person who needs some kind of closure. Chos.

Next Star Cinema movie out is the Gabby and KC movie. Pass muna ako. Not even a free ticket would make me watch that one. I will not let myself undergo unnecessary torture.

Pick Flick: Hachiko: A Dog's Story

Hay, did I choose to pick the perfect day to watch such a tearjerker. Recommended by Juno, I DL'd it right away from my suki torrent source. Nakakaiyak daw and this coming from Juno, baka nga nakakaiyak talaga siya. Buti na lang andito ako sa bahay at wala sa eroplano, so feel na feel ko ang paghikbi ko. Masakit yata sa ulo ang magpigil ng iyak.

Anyway, this movie's a bit too close to home since we just recently lost our dog, Sunday. The circumstances are different but still there's the loss. I used to think that I dislike routine because it makes life boring. But when I really think about it, my life has been one, big routine, day in, day out~ little deviations from the routine are welcome but big disruptions to our routine kinda throws us off balance.

Very endearing, must-see movie that should be watched alone or in the company of those you feel comfortable with... or else, be prepared for a big headache coming.

Pick Flick: Remember Me

Robert Pattinson was the second reason why we watched this movie. The first reason being... we had time to kill.

Four Things about Remember Me:
  1. RPattz is really cashing in on his signature 'do. Not complaining here since I am a fan of his disheveled hair, but I think sometimes he has got to steer a little bit from his Twilight/Edward Cullen phase and be a totally independent entity from it. He's a good actor and I think he's capable of other styles of acting other than brood.

  2. He's good-looking, smart and rich. Why be emo when you have many reasons to be happy? Well, dad's more handsome (si Pierce Brosnan ba naman tatay mo... hello, James Bond kaya yun!) and dad's the one who has (and makes) the funds, so maybe there's the course of his emo-ness. Okay, his brother committed suicide and such has taken a toll on the entire family, but it's been years and they should've moved on already. Easier said than done, I know.

  3. They used the love story angle as the selling point of the movie but more of being a love story, it's actually about this young man's life and how he has touched the lives of those around him. Especially loved his relationship with his younger sister.

  4. Remember Me's very quiet. Too quiet actually, bordering on boring. Pero in fairness, hindi ako nakatulog sa movie. I just feel that there was no climax, it went straight to the denouement but what a denouement that was! I never expected that to happen and I thought that was brilliant. Good thing I haven't read any of the reviews prior to watching since it could've ruined it for me.
Not a bad one from RPattz. Looking forward to his other movies and I hope he'll play another role naman.

Pick Flick: Miss You Like Crazy

Being a John Lloyd crush-er, I wanted to watch first day the movie was out. Yes, I'm a hardcore fangirl like that. But I can't find anyone to watch it with me. Anyway, as of press time, naks, I've seen the movie twice: first was with Armida last Saturday and second was with AB yesterday.

14 Things about Miss You Like Crazy:
  1. A little different from all the other Filipino movies I've seen. According to me, it's a quiet movie. According to AB, it's an emo movie. It's a quiet emo movie. It has the quietness typical of Korean films. I like that. I never knew we were capable of that.

  2. A love story is incomplete without those cheesy love quotes such as "Time is meaningless when you're in love." But I liked this one better, "Sa tagal-tagal mong naghintay, importante pa ba kung magmukha kang tanga." May point siya.

  3. Hindi kumpleto ang Star Cinema movie pag... walang naka-wig. I swear those wigs have to go. Or at least, they should get wigs that aren't too obvious. It's distracting and they don't even really affect the story. AB said maybe it's part of their character building. But still, horrible wigs I say. Ang titigas ng wig nila. Mas malambot pa buhok ng mga puppet sa Sesame Street.

  4. Another Star Cinema movie staple: music lyrics as movie title. Ano ba? Saan na ba napunta ang creativity ng mga tao? This is the nth time they have named a movie after songs and I'm getting tired of it. Next Star Cinema movie's title also comes from a song, Babe, I Love You. ARGH. But I think they justified the usage of I Miss You Like Crazy as its title since they must have used the song in every frickin' scene in the movie. Lahat na ng versions ng kanta nagamit na nila. Well, that's still so much better than KC Concepcion's movie When I Met You (yet another movie named after a song) with only KC's horrible rendition played over and over the entire movie's duration.

  5. Siguro ang bigat-bigat ng bag ni Mia (Bea Alonzo) kasi andaming laman na bato.

  6. AB said she couldn't get how one could have that connection with someone when you have spent less than 48 hours with that person. I agree. Eh kasi naman bakit isinusuko ang Bataan ng ganun-ganun na lang? According to Steve Harvey, don't give the cookie until you know he deserves it. Haha.

  7. I understand why Allan (John Lloyd) didn't come running to Mia's side right away. Of course he tried to rationalize things. He was with Daphne (Maricar Reyes) for four years and was with Mia only for two days. Anubah! Anyone in his right mind would and should think things like this a bazillion times before making a decision. Allan only did the rational thing to do which was not leave everything he has worked hard for his whole life just like that just for a girl. But his decision to not be with Mia has also consumed him for years. And this brings me back to #5, how on earth could you let two days of your life dictate how you feel for five years? In the movie, it was shown that it was worth the wait, but IT'S A MOVIE! In real life, if you dwell on those two days for the next five years of your life then you're some kinda stupid. MOVE ON.

  8. In fairness to Maricar Reyes, she's getting better in her acting. I give her 3 stars which could have been four had it not been for the wig. Well, mahirap na rin siguro for her to veer away from her nasisilaw-ako at Are you breaking up with me-pabulong acting. And for someone who broke into the scene through an infamous video, good job, I say.

  9. And also kudos to the Malaysian actor who played Mir kahit ginawa siyang tanga ni Mia at Allan dun sa scene na nag-uusap sila tungkol sa hinahanap na babae ni Allan sa Malaysia.

  10. Ketchup's character asked Mia that in a perfect world, who would she choose. Sana pumili na siya agad dahil nasa perfect world sila, ano ba! Would your fiance give you ticket back to Manila so you could reunite with your ex? And since they were in a perfect world, sana sinabi na lang din niya na babalik siyang Manila after their Paris trip because I wouldn't miss Paris for the world.

  11. That scene in the park with the benches ek-ek, that was very (500) Days of Summer. Nice. Wala nga lang originality but nice.

  12. I like balloons, ergo I liked their use of balloons as props. I wonder if the writer has a tumblr...

  13. Mia lives in a verrry small house she shares with her big family, so I wonder paano niya nakukulot yung buhok niya ng ganun kaganda? Connect?

  14. At bakit parang napaka-importante malaman natin kung sino ang narrator? Haha. I mean, when I watched it with Armida, we were wondering who was the narrator because obviously, it wasn't John Lloyd's voice. And when I watched it with AB, she asked me who was narrating. Eh bakit sa ibang movies hindi naman natin tinatanong kung sino narrator?
I liked the movie but I didn't love it. It was nice and yun nga, I found the movie's quietness beautiful but I still prefer romantic comedies. The world is too much problematic nowadays to watch emo movies. After this movie, I wonder what will there be more of: people who write their feelings on stones or people who would hang out in Paco Park or people who will take ferry boats going to work?

Pick Flick: Valentine's Day

Reminded me of He's Just Not That Into You with its star-studded cast and since I didn't really enjoy HJNTIY, I was pretty skeptical about this movie. I was willing to wait for it on DVD actually than watch it in the cinemas. But AC and I accompanied AB in MOA yesterday for their exhibit set-up and to kill time, we opted to watch a movie. AC and I bought tickets for the last full show of Valentine's Day at 10pm at buti na lang 10pm ang last full show ng MOA. We were unable to watch the first few scenes of the movie because Big City's service is painfully slow.... and that bratwurst wasn't even worth the wait, it's tiny and it didn't have mustard. Going back to the movie, I went in with little expectations...

Five Things about Valentine's Day:

1. Above anything else, this movie made me feel insecure not because I didn't have a "valentine" but because all of the girls there were super skinny! But that didn't make me not want to devour my smoked bratwurst, LOL. Jessica Biel's waist was almost non-existent. I WAAAAANT!

2. Taylor Swift has got to be the cutest thing in this movie. I like her but I am not a fan. She seems like a sweet girl but I'm getting tired of her princess and fairy tale chu-chu lyrics. Anyway, I think she played her role in the movie quite well. She's so cute toting that big, white, fluffy teddy bear everywhere she goes. And when she did her little dance there, I thought she was adorable.I'd say if she were a real person, that is annoying. But this is a movie so I say cute.

3. Loved Julia Roberts' quasi-reprise of Pretty Woman. Big mistake. Big. Huge. Ugh, loves it!

4. How everyone's tale is interconnected is unbelievable at first but when you think about it, it is possible. Small world nga daw diba.

5. Okay, I admit that I did shed a few tears and it was with Estelle (Shirley Maclaine) and Edgar's (Hector Elizondo) story. An old couple married for years and then suddenly, secrets come out. I love how they depicted how old people make tampo but after a wee bit, they make up. I thought they were heading to splitsville considering it is Hollywood and 50+ years together isn't really hard to just put away... But yay! they kissed and made up. There's just something that tugs the heart about old couples who have gone through a lot together and still love each other. I want that.

Maybe it really pays to not have any expectations when you walk in a movie house because not having any means little or no room for disappointment (pwera na lang kung Silent Hill because that movie just sucks big time). Many didn't like it, saying it's too cheesy, cliché, blah blah blah. C'mon! It's supposed to be cheesy and filled with cliché because it is a romantic comedy film entitled Valentine's Day to be shown during the period of Valentine's day. It's supposed to make us squirm in cheesiness or giddiness, depends on which angle you're taking it from. I enjoyed it. Buti na lang hindi kasali dito si Jennifer Aniston.
