this will bore you

I'm sad that I was not able to write an entry the first day of November because it would have been dated 1.11.11. But I still have November 11 :)

Update!!! Last Saturday, Jo and I went on an eat-all-you-can pig-out at Vikings. Pero hindi ko nasulit kasi I was mega late. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know what you're thinking but it was  really unavoidable. That Saturday I had planned to hit two birds with one stone- deliver an order to a classmate and meet with Jo but what I thought I had planned to a T but my printer said I could pick up my labels in the afternoon pa, meaning I can't do my delivery but I HAD TO DELIVER THE ORDER TODAY, IN THE MORNING so I just printed the labels in my (naghihingalong) printer. Buti na lang black & white lang yung label ko kundi wala na talaga. And the pouches I had made weren't finished yet- they had yet to be stringed. FML. I was supposed to leave the house at 9am, be at IC at 10 and meet with Jo in MOA at 11. Ending? I left the house at 11am and to make matters worse, the traffic was frickin' heavy. It took me two loooong hours to get to Manila. After making the delivery, went straight to Vikings where Jo was waiting for. So super lugi ako sa mahal na buffet na yun. To maximize the cost of the buffet, one has to be there early because in pig-outs, pacing is key and when you only have less than an hour, time is of the essence pero nasulit ko na din daw yun kasi nag tenderloin at rib eye steak ako.

But I'm really really thankful that my friend wasn't mad at all. I was super apologetic and I guess she knew my reason was valid. Kwentuhan lang while eating, walking, etc. I really miss my friends. I miss having them just one train ride away. After Vikings and MOA, headed back to Divi to have coffee and buy stuff I forgot to buy on my last Divi trip.

Ycel called from Hungary. No, I didn't get to talk to her. If I remember it correctly, I had just finished taking a bath and my phone was ringing when I went out of the bathroom, the call was forwarded to the Nail Spa as what happens when I don't answer calls during the first five rings. It rang again but when I answered there was no one on the other end. I knew it was a call from abroad because it had a different country code. I just found out this morning that it was Ycel. She emailed me that I didn't answer her call. Sayans. Sana abot ng Magic Jack ko ang Hungary.

I'm so proud of myself for being so productive these past few days. But still I think I need a calendar to I could really see a tangible reminder of the time I have left before the bazaar. I feel that I've done a lot already but there are still a bazillion other things that needs to be done. I haven't been able to go to the Nail Spa which is sad because I need to focus on that, too. But Nov & Dec really belong to my fragrances and we gotta hit when the iron is still hot.

I need a facial and a haircut. NOW. I can feel the lumps and bumps on my face. And the hair is now one tangled mess. But I can't indulge myself yet on vanity chuva because I need to focus on being a one-man-production-line. But after all this holiday hoopla, I will indulge myself big time.

Christmas is just 51 days away!!!

shallow val

Lazy Friday so here's part 2 of my update.

THE BOX IS HERE!
AB's balikbayan box has arrived :) Finally, I have my Teen Vogue and many many other magazines, my bilins and chocolates!

We took pictures of the box and us posing with the box- it is, after all, one of AB's milestones: her very first balikbayan box. I also got the owl doll which I highly suspect is for my nephews but since I am in my I-adore-owls phase right now, I kept it for myself. Hehe. Buti na lang hindi pa ako bumibili ng bagong facial wash. Facial washes have been my addiction ever since and I am always to tempted to buy a new one even if I haven't used up the other ones. I'm trying to save which means no unnecessary expenses and see, good things come to those who wait- L'oreal's Go 360 Clean! Sorry mababaw lang talaga ako.

But of course, in the box there is also...

NAIL POLISH OVERLOAD! I ♥ IT. I really want to keep them for myself but they have to go to the business. These are from my sister and aunt abroad. But I also bought some online and they were in the box, too. So without further ado...

I'm in love. I know they say that we should love people not things but I can't help it when there are far more cute and pretty things that can be bought from a store. Gosh, I really want to keep them for myself!!! Especially China Glaze's For Audrey. And the gray one, too. If only I were filthy rich, I'd buy every China Glaze, OPI, Orly, Rescue and other nail polish brands' colors out there. Plus, I really love how they smell.

Thank you, AB! I really hope we could visit her next year which reminds me, I need to get our pictures taken.

Movies #71 and #72: Real Steel, No Other Woman

I wasn't planning on watching Real Steel because I thought it was an action movie. I've been hearing the movie plug on radio, that it's about robots boxing and I never really developed interest in boxing and robots. But after mass last Sunday, A+D asked me if I wanted to come with them to watch Real Steel. In fernez, it was a nice watch and not really about robots boxing. Well, technically it is but what I mean is it was not the main plot of the story. It tells us a lesson that we shouldn't give up easily on our dreams, that if we work hard on it maybe we will still achieve it. One thing though, Hugh Jackman's character didn't really want his son nor he had love for him and wouldn't want anything to do with him until his son showed interest in robot boxing and his son's salvaged robot was actually winning matches- so without the common interest and money, would he still learn to love his son?

Finally, I got to watch this and it didn't disappoint. It's a funny take on an otherwise serious issue- adultery. The acting was good because I am no other woman (or anybody else's woman for that matter) but I actually cried when Anne Curtis' character begged for Derek Ramsay to not leave her. All the while I was crying I was like, "ano ba 'to, hindi naman ako kabit?" So I guess effective ang acting.

There were a few quotable quotes I found funny like when Anne Curtis was lounging in her snakeskin bathing suit and Cristine Reyes asked her if that's her bathing suit or actually her skin. Award.

Oh no I'm way past my self-imposed time limit here on the internet so I would have to bid you adieu.

quick update

Been very busy right now and I am only able to blog right now because I am waiting for my files to send to my printer. I'll use this little time to blog about recent happenings in my ordinary, boring but content and happy life.

♥ My sister (and her business partner) and I (and my friend/partner-in-crime) joined this pa-morningan bazaar in a call center. When I was first approached with this proposal, I wanted to pass the chance because I am in no way going to be awake during the wee hours of the morning. But somebody said that people who work in call centers have purchasing power and rent's pretty cheap- P400 for an entire week. So we pushed through with this little venture of ours. We were there only 2 days- the first and the last day. Total sales: P755 Experience: Priceless.

For almost an entire week I felt like a zombie. It's called graveyard shift for a reason.

♥ My current business buddy (and neighbor/batchmate) and I went to Divi last Monday to shop for packaging stuff and me, my materials for candle-making. We had lunch at Wai Ying (for the umpteenth time) and once again I was able to recruit another member in the Wai Ying Lovers Club. But I swear they must be putting loads of MSG in their food because we were super bangenge after. Choco hot fudge for dessert. Happy tummy ☺

We thought we have extra time to go around the malls and buy stuff for personal enjoyment but no, we ended up scurrying to and fro, trying to accomplish everything in our to-do list, buying everything in our to-buy list. Pagoda. And my feet were killing me. They were already in pain since the shoes I wore last Sunday were a size too small. Anyway, I enjoyed being in tired from that Divi trip.

♥ I'm backlogged with two weeks worth of TV series reviews. It is really not necessary but I want to do them :( I miss New Girl. And oh, they bumped Chuck's season premiere to Oct 28 instead of Oct 21. Boo.

♥ Bought 2 books yesterday! Valerie Frankel's Smart vs. Pretty and Sara Ban Breathnach's Something More. Booksale ♥

Super late already for my 4pm appointment so, TOODLES! xoxo

book 2011-13: the help

My thirteenth book! I'm so proud of myself    because I've read thirteen books in a span of ten months. Still  7 books short from my original target but hey, 13 books in ten months is not bad for someone who's not exactly a book lover.

A copy of The Help has been sitting on my sister's book shelf for a little over a year already and I may have paid attention to it once, read the synopsis and misunderstood it- thought it was one of those multi-generational stories- so I thought 'boring' then put it back on the shelf. But it piqued my interest when I saw or read somewhere that they're going to make a movie out of it and Emma Stone will be starring. I love Emma Stone!

The book is about racism in Mississippi in the 1960s and how some people wanted to change the status quo (ie. racial equality), while others opt for the prevailing state of things. Skeeter, a 23-year old journalist-wannabee, is back in her hometown Jackson, Mississippi after graduating from university. Having a career is not exactly what these girls are expected to pursue after graduating from college- they're expected to find a man then settle down. But Skeeter wants a career in journalism and in New York. Wanting to make a change in her society, she decided to put her skills into action and did the proverbial hitting of two birds with one stone- she was able to prove her writing prowess and she was able to make a difference.

Skeeter's interest in the helps was roused by her curiosity over what happened to Constantine, their maid who was the one who practically raised her. She wanted to find out why Constantine suddenly left without an explanation. She notices the way her friends are treating their helps, most especially Hilly who was very vocal in ostracizing the colored people. Through her friends Hilly and Elizabeth, she met Aibileen and Minny- her friends' helps. With Aibileen and Minny's help, Skeeter was able to realize her plan.

I was actually surprised to find out this was set in the 1960s. All the while I thought it was during the 1800s. I mean, 1960s is very near our present time and it is surprising to know that this kind of thing actually existed very proximate to the here and now. Seems so backward for "modern" America.

My favorite character is Miss Celia. She is tacky and Sexbomb-ish but she is lovable! Skeeter comes in second place and Aibileen is third. And I also like Johnny Foote, Celia's husband, because he's kind and even if Celia's some kind of an embarrassment, he still loves and adores her to no end as shown in the ball when Celia got drunk and uttered things and vomited on the floor and still he ran after her. How many men would do that? I imagine men would run towards the other direction when confronted with a similar circumstance. Although Minny is a character, she is not very endearing. Of course it is expected that I hate Hilly and at the end of the book, we all think she deserves that pie.

I enjoyed the book and now I am excited to see it.

TV TIME!!!

Another good week for my series but I am a little disappointed that there was no new episode for New Girl.

Gossip Girl 5.03: The Jewel of Denial
First and foremost, Dan's curly bangs is annoying  and I see Blair and I have the same sentiment regarding this. And since we're on the topic of Dan +Blair... don't they know any better than to go waving Blair's paternity results letter in the air or merely talking about it in obviously not a hush-hush manner in a room full of people. Hello? Gossip Girl? This Dan-Blair-Louis-Chuck love trapezoid is... discombobulating. I would love to see Dan + Blair happen but in the event that it wouldn't, I'm fine with Louis or Chuck. Even if Blair is depicted as mean and scheming, I say she must have done something really good in her past life to deserve three men who really love her. It broke my heart to see Chuck like that and I hope he finds someone to love truly (and vice-versa) aside from Blair because the two of them is just too complicated.

Nate, our resident man-whore, is so clueless. Even with those good looks, I'd still prefer Dan over him anytime (yes, even with his curly bangs). I mean, would you seriously want a woman as cold-hearted as that? When Elizabeth Hurley's character fired all of her staff because of him, why was there a smug look on his face? Super turn off.

And Serena. Omigosh, she really thinks highly of herself. I bet she thinks she has everyone wrapped around her finger. Why else would she wear boob-baring outfits? And I swear, super pakialamera lola mo! If Charlie wants to go, let her. She is sticking her nose in everyone's business. Well, yeah, that is because she has to go on making herself feel she's needed when clearly, she is not.

Initial reaction to Charlie was dislike but now I kinda know where she's coming from. I mean, if there's a chance for her live opulently without lifting a finger, why waitress? This is an opportunity to live the high life and it's hers for the taking. Well, she just has to lose her soul and whatever else she has in the process. Haha.

Hart of Dixie 1.03: Gumbo and Glory
Zoe needs to prove herself and in my opinion, she has to start by wearing "proper" clothes. Not that wearing short shorts is improper because I think it depends on the occasion. But then again, she is a doctor and one who is trying to prove herself to a conservative community at that. I certainly wouldn't trust a doctor who's wearing short shorts on duty.

And seriously, this series is really growing on me. George Tucker. Wade. Two more reasons why I will wait for new episodes every week. Of course George is already taken by Lemon and in spite of that we all can feel a little sumthin' sumthin' between Mr. Tucker and Zoe. And Wade. We all know where Wade and Zoe's bickering will lead to. Joey and Pacey. Dan and Blair. You get my point?

Even if Dr. Breeland is annoying, he is there for a reason and that is to teach Zoe a lesson. All it took for them to have a moment of understanding was a swallowing of pride- on Zoe's part. She is still a newbie and an arrogant one at that so I think it is quite easy to misjudge and dislike her.

2 Broke Girls 1.04: And the Rich People Problems
Funny. This is evidence that rich people are also ghetto, it's not that obvious since they're all sparkly and shiny LOL. And I don't get it why Americans are scared of the Philippines. New York is just as dirty as some of the streets here and New York is not even poor! They don't have any excuse to be filthy. Not that poverty is an excuse to be filthy...

And I have a new series- Revenge. Recommended by Xmas. So far, so good. And whaddya know, little Eric van der Woodsen has got abs, y'all.

Up

I just had a good week. Hope this one will be better and next week better than this week and so on and so forth. Why don't I claim it already, ya?

Actually, I have a bazaar later in a call center. Our schedule for five days is- get this- 9pm to 9am! I know, riiiight???  But we have to strike while the iron is hot so there, goodbye muna 8 hours of sleep, goodbye lucid intervals. Haha. Then again, this is what I want. If only I could do this 365 days a year ☺ SOON.

Last Saturday, went to A and her sister's clinic blessing- a milestone in Ate A's career. Gaaahd, I'm old. Sometimes I do feel old but somehow it's still not sinking in and I wonder whether that's a good thing or not. I mean, girls my age are getting married, having babies, raising kids and seriously, I still don't see myself doing anything of the aforementioned. I do believe that age is just a state of mind but when we consider our biological clock... I can hear it ticking louder every year I celebrate my birthday. But what the hell, if it's meant to happen it will happen. So dear me, do not fuss over what I can't control.

Since I was with people I spent high school with 12 years ago, time was spent reminiscing about the past and catching up with one another.  After the blessing, hung out with A's sisters and friends- dinner at Stackers (so-so tasting chicken and fries but yummy iced tea). They're planning a karaoke night next week. Excited ☺

mish & mash, this & that

I just wanna share that I'm such a happy, little worker bee this week ☺ although I am not so sure if my stuff will be ready Monday evening. But still, I'm so proud of myself that because this week I was able to hit a lotta birds with a few stones- started production, went on a meeting with a future supplier (yes, I'm claiming it already-- just checked my email and YES THEY WILL BE MY SUPPLIER. THANK YOU, LORD! THANK YOU UNIVERSE ☺), finished my Nostradamus Effect series and finished reading The Help. How I wish I could be this productive every week.

☻☻☻

And FINALLY, mommy had the glass on the dining table replaced. And whaddya know, things are looking up. I'm feeling positive :) L♥VES IT SO SO SO MUCHO!!! XOXO

☻☻☻

V had this open on her google tab
VirgoEmbodiment of the individual in the world; problems of adjustment dealing with the world and others; perfection of your approach to life, development of mundane skills; ability to change to adapt to life better.
Service, helping, self-effacing; perfectionist, always seeking to improve, efficiency; practical, functional, interested in crafts and projects; true to self in a simple, unassuming manner; reacts to defeats and setbacks by pulling back and altering approach, lacks confidence in the face of opposition; lives up to duties and responsiblities; interested in maintaining the body as a fit vehicle; diet, exercise, herbs, etc.; aware of conflicts with others, of the give and take required by life.
Wala lang. I just feel it's accurate with what I am, just not on the seeing the body as a fit vehicle part, haha.

☻☻☻

Okay toodles! Have to sleep early... well, earlier than usual... because I'm going to A's business-blessing tomorrow in Caloocan. Will be hitching a ride with her and I need to be in her house before 7am. I AM A VERY VERY VERY HAPPY GIRL TODAY. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH, LORD ☺
