Project 100: Tangled

I'm such a sucker for Disney animations. Not those CGI type but the old-school ones like in the 90s. Sure, 3D makes things more interesting with all the effects but it distracts you from the story. Kaya ayoko ng Avatar eh... outside all those kick-ass 3D effects, the story sucks. Anyway... I was excited for Tangled ever since its trailer came out. Old-school Disney animation, yay!

Watched Tangled in SLE's musty cinemas but I don't really care about that as long as there are no rats/insects scurrying on the floor. The mustiness greeted us as we entered the cinema but was gone once the movie started. Maybe because all my attention was on the movie or maybe I got immune to the smell. But who cares? The movie was great!

I already know Zachary Levi voices one of the characters but when I actually heard his voice, I was giddy! I was like, "Chuck! Chuck!" Haha. I love love love Chuck and even if his character, Flynn Rider/ Eugene Fitzherbert, is supposedly a thief, a hooligan, I know Flynn's a good person inside- cos he's the bida and with Chuck's voice, he must be a good person. Ha. Judging a person (or a fictional character) based on his voice.

The one thing about fairy tales, even if they're modern adaptations, you know they will always always have happy endings. You just can't crush little girls' idealism towards love and finding prince charming; you let them find out for themselves. But again, who cares!?!! Let us escape from the harsh realities of this life even if just for an hour and a half, ya? Hay, I have Disney to blame for my Cinderella complex that I just can't shake off. By now I should know that happily ever after don't just happen and 'prince charming' don't just come knocking on my door. At least here in Tangled, prince charming was first  "thief charming" before he became a prince. Rapunzel's just adorable. These fairy tale heroines, how old are they supposedly? I find her so cute. And her optimism puts my positivity chuva to shame. Sa sobrang haba pa lang ng buhok niya, she should be complaining about how heavy it is. But then again, it is magical so maybe it doesn't weigh a thing.

Bribery exists even in animations! What's the world coming to? Well, it was portrayed in a funny way but still that is bribery. And aside from bribery, beauty can get you anywhere. Rapunzel easily coaxed the horse to be on their side even just for one day and the same horse can be easily bribed with apples. But this is no time to get so serious...

Fun movie! And it's even more fun because we were watching with kids! Lots of them! Nakakatawa mga comments nila. I love it! And you know what else I like in this modern twist of fairy tale, Rapunzel isn't wholly dependent on the guy. She also kicks ass! Her hair kicks ass! I hope Disney makes more of this.
