Pick Flick: Here Comes the Bride

I have AD to thank for that free ticket because if it wasn't for her, I would have missed out on this very funny movie.

Six Things about Here Comes the Bride:

1. The plot: Five persons exchanged bodies after this one fateful day when they were all part of a car collision at the exact moment a total solar eclipse happened. At first, I was dubious of the plot. I was pessimistic that they could pull this off but I was pleasantly surprised because they did pull it off.

2. The success of the movie could be attributed to the the five actors who played the five main characters. Hats off to Eugene Domingo, Angelica Panganiban, Jaime Fabregas, John Lapus and Tuesday Vargas! Isang palyadong artista lang diyan and it could've ruined the entire movie. Magaling ang casting, in fernezzz. I can't say I have a favorite character out of all the five. They were all superb! Kalurkey! Their acting prowess really surfaced in this movie.

3. I love how the characters (except one) found solace in their foreign bodies. As they say, "one man's trash is another man's treasure." A successful lawyer who suddenly found herself in the body of a young yaya accepts her fate because she gets an instant lovelife, what she was lacking in her life~ just one of the five lives changed that day.

4. Aside from great acting and funny lines, the audience's reactions would also make you laugh. It's funny how everyone would get squeamish every time Harold (Tom Rodriguez) would try to kiss the character of Eugene Domingo. Each time they would yell, "Yuuuck!" Kawawa naman. Bakit wala ba siyang karapatan magka-jowa ng guapo? Haha.

5. Although I don't get it why Cherry Pie Picache's character wasn't alarmed by her daughter's sudden personality change? For 20+ years of her life, Stefanie was sickeningly sweet and all of a sudden she becomes this wild girl who is proficient in sward speak.

6. Whattaweddingsouvenir!!! What do you expect your guests to do with a heart-shaped pillow with your pictures on both sides? Except na lang if they were harboring some sort hidden desire either to the bride or groom but otherwise, why would I want a pillow with their faces on it? EXPLAIN. Better yet, get your wedding souvenirs from me ;) Reasonably priced na, practical pa. Oha!

7. Gusto mo underline-an ko pa? Tapos lagyan ko ng highlighter? I-spell ko pa for you? A line from the movie which could be very, very useful ;)

Funny, funny movie. I can't wait until they have an available torrent for this so I could download it and send it to AB. We both liked Kimmy Dora kasi and if more people liked Here Comes the Bride, maybe she'll enjoy this one, too.

Waiting for My Slobong

It's a rainy and humid, sticky Tuesday. I dislike rainy days but I don't like 38ºC temperatures as well. Why can't it be Christmas already? I love it that it's already June, just 6 months away 'til we deck the halls with boughs of holly fa la la la la la la la la la ♪♫ I even have my Christmas decor for the plaza already. Excited much?

I'm here alone in the room, alone but not lonely. Just finished researching for possible promos for the spa for the months to come. Sales has been low for the past two weeks and although I could attribute the fact to a lot of factors (ie. people are busy preparing for school opening), I think I would have to be proactive here and bombard our clients with new happenings and promos. For a small village, there are a whole lot of nail spas and salons here. Of course, a little competition is healthy but I think it's time we do without the sari-sari store mentality. Go find your own brilliant idea. For crying out loud, they can't even come up with their own spa operating hours. Tsk.. tsk... Okay, now that I'm done with the bad vibes, let's proceed with the good ones.

I've been a bit kikay lately, I don't know why. Before all of these, my only vanity concerns were my pimples and eyebrows. I never even cared about make-up. Or worried if the strands of my hair are neatly brushed away from my face. Well, I do think it's about time that I do some preening. I have to primp myself up if I want to look polished, right? I've already bought some stuff which I think would help me in this little journey to looking all polished and here are some of what I'm planning to buy in the coming weeks... that is if business is good.

to conceal all those imperfections, meaning, EVERYTHING

this product claims to dry out pimples overnight and prevent new ones;
I'll try this one once I've finished my current stock of drying lotion

to add to my collection of facial washes

to rid of all those unwanted facial hair

And these are a just a few of my must-haves ☺ Oh no! I must scrimp on some things so I could splurge on enumerated stuff above. And there's also this New York trip I'm saving up for. Target date is Autumn 2011. Must get rid of unnecessary expenses.

Speaking of expenses, the entire family, except AC, attended this Attracting Wealth seminar. Very similar to the secret and what I'm quasi-practicing right now. You just have to abide by the Rules of the Universe and its powers will conspire to give you what your heart desires. So now I'm kinda in the process of revamping my VISION BOARD and be more specific with what I want. Ayun nga, I've been sort of practicing this wealth attraction method for some time but never really experienced bongga effect. Maybe there's something I am not doing right, ya? There's a specific time to look at those pictures on your vision board to summon them in my life and that I've got to find out. Soon. But for now, I must continue looking for pictures to add to my vision board.

And oh, I should really lose weight. I've already gained 10 lbs before I went on vacation and I do believe that I gained more. Not for anything else but health reasons, I want to shed the extra pounds. And that, my friends, is the current source of my frustration. I currently see myself as this one big blob and I can't seem to imagine how I could lose 50 effin' pounds. I hope I could wish myself thin. Arrr...

And on that note, here's something from tumblr to remind myself that everything is possible if I will it. Yaha!

La vita è bella

I wish I could be like this E.V.E.R.Y.D.A.Y.

But but but I do think that everything is just a matter of perspective. A lot of shitty stuff going on in this world but I choose to see the good ones. I don't care if people would think of me as over-optimistic bordering on lutang. At least, I'm happy. Riiight? Right!

Anyway, here's a rundown of things I'm grateful for:
graduating from Spanish course, 28 levels after ☻ that wonderful feeling when people like what you did ☻ quality time with parents in the province ☻ finishing an order and delivering them later ☻ a short haircut ☻ another Chuck episode I've yet to watch ☻ Joaquim ☻ 2-pcs McDo chicken c/o mommy ☻ stuffed crust pizza last Sunday ☻ and oh, New Orleans chicken wings @ Pizza Hut ☻ back issues~ Lucky and teenvogue ☻ Rachel Bilson on the cover of Lucky ☻ red mango with cocoa pebbles & strawberries ☻ una nueva foto ☻ two inquiries ☻ running water ☻ my room smells nice ☻
I LOVE MY LIFE ♥ I could be 27 years, chronologically speaking, but I'll always be a 10-year old at heart. Summer's almost over in this side of the earth but I'm totally feelin' this new Katy Perry song, California Gurls. I'm sorry kung sadyang baliktad ang pwet ko at ngayon ko lang feel ang summer kahit pa umaabot pa sa 38 degrees ang temperatura dito sa mga nakaraang buwan...

Anthem for Summer 2010!

Kick back relax ; )

I'm back, balakubak! I've been back from vacation for a week now but it's only now that I get to write this post about it because I've been very busy with a few things~ our graduation project (Yes, we're graduating, but that's another story) and the order due next week. So without further ado...

Day 1: Disappointment has a name, it's, well~ disappointment

Our flight's not until 1:45 in the afternoon but we had to wake up early since it was election day and we had to do our responsibility as a citizen of this country and that is to vote. Both excited and worried regarding the election. Luckily, our precinct was still located inside the village as opposed to what was previously reported that they would cluster ours with other precincts and transfer polling place outside the village. Together with my sisters, we went to the polling place around 8 in the morning but then I had to go back to our house cos I left my ID. Anyway, I was #117 and was patiently waiting for my turn. After half an ear of a corn and several Trefoil games on my phone, finally it was my turn. The process took one whole, sweaty hour.

Again, I'm not very good at packing my things and I was pressed for time so I just threw in my bag clothes that I know fit me. Had lunch at the airport and I had the most tasty sausage ever. Winner ang wienerli! I have this love affair with Hungarian sausages but right now I think my heart belongs to the wienerlis of the world. Arrived in Roxas City around 2:40pm. Mommy and Tito Jim fetched us and we went straight to my dad's hometown. We just waited for the votes to come in which took a looong time since voting wasn't finished until 8-ish in the evening. We went to their polling place and the people were in some kind of chaos tapos the electricity went out TWICE! Anyway, although I did pray very hard to God and wished that my daddy would win, it was easy for me to accept that he didn't win again. Maybe because I don't want him in that field. He is deserves better. It's just disappointing that vote buying is still rampant. People from the barrios sell their votes ranging from P300- 1,000. They vote for the highest bidder, who in turn will make kurakot more money when they're in office. It has become a vicious cycle. They say we deserve the government that we have, pero bakit ako nadamay dun?

plus tank tops from MR

I'm okay with Noynoy. It's Mar Roxas I loathe. I campaigned against him and must have convinced a good number of people to vote for anyone but Mar. And if Mar does not become VP of the Philippines, I will be very fulfilled.

P.S. We saw Maria Venus Raj in the airport. Hindi siya magiliw. Hindi rin siya makinis.

Day 2: Seafood Capital or just Food Capital
It's official. Daddy lost the election. The figures were in and he lost in most baranggays but I'm happy to know that he won in the baranggays where the educated people, so to speak, are. Ever since, he always got the vote of the people in the town proper. Anyway, since he lost and there's no point in lingering there, we headed for the city.

We stopped over at the Panay Church, home of the largest church bell in the Philippines and if I'm not mistaken, in Asia. I think it wasn't my first time there but this was definitely my first time to go up the bell tower.

hola soy dora
1. the replica; 2. the real big bell; 3. Panay Church marker; 4. one of the original beams of theChurch which is already 300+ years old; 5. door (wala lang, gusto ko lang kunan)

al lado de la iglesia de Panay

I think it was just our luck that one of the priests there is a relative of my mommy. What was supposed to be a short kodakan moment by the bell took longer. It was a good thing that the priest who is also our relative told us we were having our picture taken with an impostor, a replica. The original bell was housed in the church's bell tower, 80+ steps up.

On our way to our tita's house, mommy and daddy stopped by the market to buy fresh seafood. I swear I was in FOOD HEAVEN =) I ♥ seafood. Any food, actually. But the crabs, hito, scallops, etc. in this part of the country is just delightful. It sure tastes yummier when it's fresh. That's for lunch.

In the evening, my cousin and his husband (my daddy's running mate who also lost) invited us over to their GARGANTUAN house for dinner. Again, the food was yummy. Super busog. Anyway, I like my cousin's house. The house is not really very big but the land area is B-I-G! I am envious! Imagine, if you have a lawn/garden that big, you could jog in there everyday!

Day 3 to 5: A-beachin' we will go

We took the land trip from Roxas City to Caticlan, Aklan which is a 4-hour ride. We rode an L-300 van and AD's husband wasn't very comfortable the entire duration of the trip. It wasn't really the most comfy trip since there wasn't much leg room and inefficient airconditioning. Finally, after what seemed like longer than 4 hours, we arrived at the Caticlan port. Boracay, here we come!

Nakikipicture lang =)

I forgot where we stayed but it was this very simple room, nothing fancy, just a place to sleep in. Well, we'll be out of the room most of the time so might as well not splurge on the accommodations. We didn't swim on the first day we were there. We just walked around, explored the place which I last visited just three years ago. Nothing much has changed. It pretty much looks the same it did three years ago~ still mossy. We swam on the second day and we reached all the way to Station 1 cos we looked for a beach that isn't as mossy. Judging by the look of my nasty sunburn, nasulit naman ang swimming. I was already looking like a crispy lechon by sunset. Had a massage at the Palassa Spa, al fresco. I opted for a shiatsu massage because I like "pindot," compared to "himas." Haha.

Though I'm not really a beach person, I still enjoyed that two days and three nights of carefree, beach living lifestyle~ Lakad. Lublob. Kain. Repeat.

Took a bus back to Roxas City which was waaay better than riding an L-300 van. There's more leg space and a TV, but I opted to play Trefoil on my phone for 3 hours. Mommy and daddy fetched us in Sigma, a town in Capiz.

We passed by Auntie Teling's house in Roxas City to invite them for dinner at the baybay (Ilonggo for beach). We didn't know Auntie Madre was there, she just arrived from Manila. So there, ihaw-ihaw dinner by the beach with five, super kulit senior citizens. Haha!

Day 6: Petiks lang
Went to Pilar, my mommy's hometown. Played mahjong for a wee bit with my mommy, aunt and cousin. I know how to play mah jong (and other card games) but I forget so I just have to be reminded. For someone who last played a real mah jong game 15 years ago, I could say I'm good because I beat those who play it almost everyday.

Lunchtime ♥ with crabs, scallops, inihaw na bangus, hipon and my forever love, inihaw na baboy. I really don't go for fancy barbecue marinade and sauces, just sprinkle salt on raw meat, ihaw-ihaw for a wee bit and voila! the best tasting grilled liempo ever!

After lunch, we went to daddy's fishpond...

this trip was a wake-up call for me to lose bleepin' weight.
I look like a frickin' pink blob :/

Day 7: Back to reality
...but not quite. Flight back to Manila~ happy, because I will be once again in the comfort of my own house, my own bed, my own banyo; sad, because we're leaving daddy behind. It was rather a quick flight home but got turbulent as we approached Manila. Happy to be back home to kiss and hug and smother my cutie patootie nephew.

Enjoyed the vacation even if we lost the election and I honestly think that we weren't actually the losers. I've given up hope that I'll see change for the better in my lifetime but I hope that in our children's times, times will actually be better. I wish for public servants and less politicians in the government because as it is, most people who are in position are only there for their own selfish reasons.

missing you

missing Arnold.
and Helga.

from Hey! Arnold 1x02
The Little Pink Book

This is my favorite cartoon ever. Ever. EVER. And I can't bloody believe that it's been more than ten years since I first started watching Hey! Arnold. I remember hurrying to get home from school, making sure I'm home by 5pm just so I could watch it on Nickelodeon even if there's a huge possibility they'd be showing a re-run. I just wanna make sure I won't miss any episode. I've DL'd all five seasons of Hey! Arnold and I'm proud to say that I didn't miss a single episode of this show.

I guess I love this show because I can relate to Helga. Actually, I am Helga. Haha. I super miss this show.

Hay ang daming gastos. It's hard being the punong-abala pala in the household. Now I value more everything that my mommy does whenever she's home. I am a master reklamadora. I complain about everything~ the food, how messy everything is, the food, the food and the food. And now that I am mainly in-charge of stuff here at home, I've realized how hard it is to run a household. So ngayon, lagi kaming gutom. Haha. Well, not exactly. Actually, everything's just right. No leftovers. Just enough for everybody which is better, I think. And I have to worry about the bills. Bills. BILLS! Haynako.

Last Friday, Ycel and I met for lunch at Mega. We ate at Super Bowl and had yang chow fried rice (a Chinese restaurant staple), lemon chicken and pork siomai. It was Ycel's treat. AGAIN. It's her birthday treat daw. After almost three months only did we have a get-together like this. Hopefully, we could meet up more often and on a weekend so there's more time.

After lunch with Ycel, met with AC. We arrived in Mega together but separated ways because I have a lunch to go to and she went window shopping. After two hours, we met in front of National. Initially, she wanted to look around since there was a 3-day sale in the mall and she's a sucker for sales. But after seeing the volume of people in the mall, she suddenly felt lazy to scour through those sale racks, which is a good thing since I wanted to go home na din. Well, we went around for a wee bit because I wanted her to buy me a red lipstick. I wanted Maybelline's Summer Sunset but it was out of stock and we couldn't find another brand that has the shade of red that I want. Oh well. Maybe it wasn't meant to be. I wasn't going to wear lipstick anyway. I would but only inside my room. Ha.

Earlier today Yesterday, we went to Bulacan for this alternative healing chuva. I was supposed to go IC today even if we didn't have classes, to plan for our grad project but AC reminded me of this trip we had scheduled weeks ago. I thought I could make it in the afternoon, but traffic was heavy and got out of Bulacan at 4pm in the afternoon already. Procedure here is first, you're asked to lie down on a bed and then he'll hold this cotton over different parts of your body and where you feel kuryente (electricity), then that's where your sickness/health concern is. Surprisingly, there's nothing wrong with me. I really thought I have a slew of sicknesses and was really surprised that I had none. Maybe I'm really just hypochondriac. Well, I did feel electricity in my puson area (where I already had previous diagnosis of PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome) but he said that that's only fat. Technically, I have PCOS because I am fat. My OB told me to lose weight and if possible, go back to my original weight which would require me to lose 40 frickin' pounds. Good luck with that.
But then again this not a reason for me to be lax with my diet, most especially that I have this meal plan I follow these days. It's nothing strict. I just limit my intake of rice. I only eat rice during lunch. Breakfast and dinner, I substitute rice with camote tops. Sana magbunga naman etong project ko na ito.

No Sunday lunch-out for us today. May business meeting ang mga taya~ AD & Dindo. So instead of Sunday lunch, we just had dinner tonight. They brought over Chooks 2 Go- masarap kahit walang sauce. Yum.

Mommy's birthday today. Mommy & daddy's 38th wedding anniversary as well. But they're in the province so we can't really celebrate it as a family. We'll just call them first thing in the morning and maybe we'll just celebrate when we go visit them in the province. Hay, I really miss being in a big household. Umaalog-alog na kami dito sa bahay. If I click my heels together three times, would I go back in time?
