Pick Flick: High School Musical 2

I know I'm way past this age bracket but I just can't help it but be a High School Musical fan. Actually, when the first High School Musical movie was first shown I was totally an anti. I heard their songs on radio stations, music video channels kept on playing it over and over, and people kept on gushing about it. I thought, overrated. Bah!

But when Anne, a classmate from IC who is, by the way, way older than I am, raved about it I gave it a thought and decided to watch it. And from then on I was hooked.

Okay, going back to High School Musical 2...

My expectations weren't really high since sequels are supposed to be inferior to the original. And true enough, it lived up to the tradition. This was more musical than the first and somehow that was what bored the hell out of me. And the songs weren't as good and as fun.

My favorite character is still... Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) . Haha! Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) was a little too sweet that she is starting to get on my nerves with all those giggling. I can just imagine how her script looked like...
Gabriella: *giggles*
Troy: I need a lifeguard!
Gabriella: *giggles* *more giggles*
Troy: Rescue me! Rescue me!
Gabriella: *giggles* *giggles* and more *giggles*
And I really don't get what's the all the fuss about Zac Efron. He's too effeminate. And the way he sways his hips is so gay. Oh, please! Plus, my sister and I already knows what's wrong with him, he doesn't have an upper lip. Well, he does but it's too thin. And also, the quasi-flared nostrils.

I think I'll just watch the first one to erase the bad impressions the sequel made on me.

Yes Man by Danny Wallace

Yes Man
Danny Wallace

A book recommended by my two sisters. They were raving about it and told me that it is a must-read.

It is mainly about Danny, the author, saying "yes" to everything. This "boy-project" of his was a consequence of his realization that he has been living his life quite negatively. Due this, he has missed out on things and deemed that he hasn't been living his life.

The first few chapters were boring. And the following chapters~ some were boring, some were funny and some were okay. There were some parts that I know were supposed to be funny like when he went to Netherlands to claim the prize he won in a lottery he never even joined, but I just found it irksome. His optimism was too overboard that it's bordering on stupidity. But the Albert Hejin bit was funny.

All in all, the book's okay. It was entertaining but I find some parts of it dragging. This book was based on the real-life boy-project of the author and I was really amused when I turned to the last two pages and saw pictures and memorabilia of his adventure. The Stonehenge picture was really funny. However, there were also some lessons I got from the book. Here are some lines from the book...
"I suppose in some ways all this is about confronting fears. People sometimes go through their lives having fears and never realizing they can be removed in just a few minutes, forever. People are always saying no to things, aren't they? They're frightened of change, used to routine, used to doing things in a certain way. Like, the people who take risks in business are the people who don't fear change, and ultimately they're the most successful."

"It's kind of a fear of the unknown, in your case. It's a negative form of thinking. People do miss out on so much by instantly and unthinkingly saying no... They don't realize they're putting a real limitation on their lives..."

"It's important to have time to figure out what you want to do. Because there are key points in life, times when one decision will affect the next twenty years of your life. And only then will you have the freedom to make another choice, which could affect the next twenty years."

Maybe this book is really, really good but I think I was expecting too much that it fell short of my expectations. However, even if I didn't find this book really really funny as what my sisters told me, at least I learned a lesson. There were some realizations made and I hope I could act on it as soon as possible.

Getting Up On the Wrong Side of Bed

I just dread days like today.

I don't want to elaborate and give a blow-by-blow account of why I am so miserable these days. I so hate this feeling. As the days roll by, I am really really beginning to dislike someone.

Hay buhay parang life.

I think it's a little late for me to act all rebellious. After all, I should be past that stage already. And if I rebel, I reckon that's just a step to self-destruction. Someone's really pissing me off and I feel as if she's competing with me. What for? ¿Para quĂ©? But if I continue to act like this, I'd be the one at the losing end and end up miserable.

So in the meantime, I decided to put a stop to my being chika to everyone and give everyone the silent treatment. I need to watch Daria so I could imbibe her mood and perfect that monotone speech.

And no, I didn't see the lunar eclipse last night. :|

Eclipse & A New Passport

It's raining, oh no!!! I hope it stops before nighttime so I'd be able to see the red moon. There'll be a lunar eclipse later this evening although I still have to know at what time exactly. I haven't seen a lunar eclipse ever so this would be a first for me, hopefully.

Congratulations to me on my new...At last, I have a passport. Now, I can finally travel. I only have to worry about money. Haha! Actually, the obtainment of a passport must be the easiest step one has to do to travel. Anyone can have a passport. Getting enough money to travel is the biggest obstacle to hurdle. Anyhoo, even if obtaining a passport is the easiest step, I reckon it still is the most important as to no one can get out of the country without it. At least, I am a step closer to my goal. ;)

More milk coming

This post is, again, about my milk ads and my frantic search for those that I still don't have in my collection.

Last Saturday, I bought 3 back-issue magazines in the hopes of finding new got milk ads. Out of the 3, 2 magazines contained an ad each but the Redbook mag had the Mariska Hargitay one, which I already have. The newest addition to my collection was Beyoncé and Solange Knowles milk ad from Teen Vogue, April 2007. I was a little disappointed since Teen Vogue magazines come in that tiny size, ergo the ad also comes in that tiny size. But it's better than none.

The latest ads I got from the magazines that I've rummaged through are...

Dixie Chicks, David Beckham, Carrie Underwood & Beyonce and Solange Knowles

And more are coming! Juno's giving me more ads~ Carson Daly, Noah Wyle and Hilary Duff. Yahoo!!!

I know I have Amy Grant's ad in a magazine somewhere and...

I'm a High School Muscial fan and I can't not have this ad. I have to have this.

The newest milk ads are those of the Heroes stars! And I want those, too! Just saw Hayden Panettiere's ad and I can't wait to get a hold of it.

I Think I'm Addicted

The stash arrived.

And I am so ecstatic over it.

Uncle Er arrived from the States and I've received goodies from Danielle~ 10 bottles of nail polish! There were supposed to be 10 bottles but a bottle broke. Sayang talaga since it was the Boathouse Red color that she said was her favourite. Of course, I don't have the heart to tell her that bottle broke. I don't want to burden her with it anymore. Anyway, I am still happy happy joy joy over the fact that I have ten nine new, pretty bottles of nail polish.

Friendster

Precious time flies away when I start to log in to my friendster account. I actually wonder why I spend so much time with it when I'm not really doing anything with it. Maybe the chismosa in me is so strong that there's always this urge to pry into other people's lives.

Every time I look at other people's profiles...

* My eyes rolls incessantly because of all those "feeling" profiles. Hindi ako nanlalalit, nagsasabi lang ako ng totoo. I mean, for crying out loud, you can have all those "ugly moment" "bad hair days" and other not-so-great moments caught on camera, but please don't post them on friendster for all the world to see. Because it's really yucky...

* I want to throw up due to people's mushiness. The rule against public display of affection should be extended to the world wide web. Nobody really wants to hear you call each other "baby." Giving each other sweet testimonials is different from vomit-inducing professions of undying love. Blech

On the other hand, it's none of my beeswax anyway. This is another sign that I should get a life!
