week 3: patience is a virtue shizz

Late post about the third week of my year but because this was due to my busy schedule, not too bad ;-) I still have some pressing needs to address- FAST! But I think I shouldn't be too hard on myself. Anyway, will post about that later. First, Week 3/52:

Finished reading Uncle John's Bathroom Reader and my Walking Dead marathon. I leafed through a bazillion magazines to get color combination ideas for the shop's color theme/motif (which I also left the day I went to the hardware store to buy paint- great.) parang petiks day lang but deep down, I'm frickin' worried of things yet to come.

Still under mental turmoil thinking about stuff... which resorted to an eating binge- chicken, cheeseburger and chucherias. Ahh, comfort food how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I felt so guilty after downing all those food and sugar. Put off stuff that needs to be done cos I was really down in the dumps. I hate days like these. It's days like these that I only want to lie in bed all day.

Honestly, I can't remember anything from this day. Maybe I spent the whole day sulking. Bah.

Started the day early cos of this business permit renewal thing. Everything went smoothly, no glitch whatsoever- just how I like it. Aunt E and Uncle R from the States (AB lives with them) had dinner at the house. Vicky and the kids came over for dinner too. Joaquim, my very showbiz nephew, was the center of attention. My fave pasalubong: chocolates and clinique superbalm moisturizing gloss. My lip balm/gloss collection is growing. wee!

Played hooky from manning duties. Declared this day until the 25th as I'M A FREE BITCH, BABY days meaning, I will not think about my concerns for five days. Catch-up day on Chuck and HIMYM episodes- instant mood-boosters. Went to AD's house for chika time with Ate Jo and also watch my daily fix of Temptation of Wife over Coke and camote cue. 

Lunch at AD's house - inihaw na yobabs for lunch. Happiness ♥ Worked on Monique's order. Started watching new Korean series online- My Princess- until the 3rd episode. So far, it's nice and it stars Kim Tae-hee and Song Seung-hun- old-school Korean actors. Practiced Nene and made her do my manicure. Showed her how nail stamping is done.

Sunday lunch-out @ Shakey's Libis, my treat. Joaquim!!! Collected my free mocha frap from AC. Went to Home Depot to buy necessary materials for shop's renovation. Stop-over at Shopwise. Shared a Hungry Hungarian with AD. Wasn't able to mass so just prayed at Padre Pio.





I really really really love Sundays... no matter how bad the previous days were, Sundays always have a way of neutralizing things. And no, not because of that.

It's a weekend, y'all! Somehow with the weekend here, my worries are mitigated... till next week when all of the shiznits will do a comeback. Thankfully, we will be on break this coming week as we will be doing some kick-ass renovations. Seriously, just a paint job the shop badly needs and a little tweak here and there. So this week, I will be a truant and watch all the movies and series and do all the non-work stuff I want to do. Beginning today until the 25th January, I'M A FREE BITCH, BABY!

Started worry-free weekend with new episodes of How I Met Your Mother and Chuck. HIMYM is, as usual, awesome and it's awesomeness I somehow can't put into words. I just enjoy every minute of it. Even if today's episode's theme was sad, they were still able to produce something fun out of it. I was actually crying in the end.

Chuck was nice as well. With Sarah going double-agent, I don't know now what to expect which is a nice twist, by the way. As far as I know, this season is Chuck only has 13 or 14 episodes and that means we're only left with 2 or 3 more. By the looks of it, I think we're having a fifth season. Yahoo! I suppose they're going to play with Sarah and Chuck in a star-crossed lovers-ish angle. Of course, kunwari magkalaban sila and they can't show any sign of affection or else they will be found out. Hay I don't know. I have my own share of worries right here and I should leave it to the show's writers on how the show will go. I will stop concocting my own stories NOW.

It's just sad that Chuck's marriage proposal to Sarah still didn't push through even if they're both wanting it to happen. Maybe fate is planning something else...

week 2: delaying tactics

Be careful what you wish for cos you just might get it. Now I know how that Pussycat Dolls song refrain works in real life... I know, I know, not originally from the PCD but they're top of mind when I hear that line. Anyway, since there was this one thing I keep on dwelling on, thinking about almost the entire time, I wanted something to distract me, take my thoughts away from it. And guess what, I got it. I fricking got it. Bah! But my week wasn't all bad.

Monday
Rest day meaning justified bum-ness. Get Him To The Greek DVD.

Tuesday
Was sulking about how I'm semi-depressed about the gloomy weather and the crash from the holiday high. Got a text from BFF's sister if I could perm their lashes- Yes, I would do anything to get me out of this house. Fun night with friends and quasi-friends, talking about anything and everything under the sun over McDo and Mang Inasal meals. A recommended that I watch The Walking Dead. And oh, I fired someone.

Wednesday
Supposed to do manning duties but I was easily coaxed out of it with ADs yaya. Extra-challenging commute to the mall since they moved the FX terminal to idunnowhere. Red Mango love. Met with AD's friend, C. Dinner at Pho Hoa. Celeb sighiting- Bobby Yan, Francine Prieto and Carla Humphries. After Mega, Tiendesitas w/ AD and D's friends. Mainly just listened to grown-up ramblings. Bought cute striped shirt w/ an owl design. Recently, I have this fascination over owls.

Thursday
Mommy got my barangay clearance for me, whoopee! Watched tv almost the entire day then went to AD's house to get some human interaction. Made Rona buy coconut milk and put it on my hair that badly needs some rescuing from dryness. I stayed at home pala because I downloaded The Walking Dead.

Friday
Early signs of nail spa hullabaloo. No sense in holding them back, if they want to go then GO. Wanted to do manning duties but there were some errands that need to be done. Bought polish supplies, paid BIR dues, paid phone bill, etc. Lunch at Kenny Roger's Roasters. Met w/ Mommy then had merienda at Pizza Hut. Grabe ang kulit ni mommy! Went home to interview a prospective nail tech who worked for rival nail spa. Celebrity sighting- Lindsay Custodio at SM Supermarket.

Saturday
More chismis dito, chismis doon. Actually did some manning duties *clap clap* Watched 1st episode of Walking Dead. V and babies were supposedly coming back here but changed her mind the last minute :( Accompanied AD in Sta. Lucia to fetch AC. Went to Eastwood for coffee, AC's treat. There we were talking about familial issues (about our relatives, actually) when I received a text saying Chongga was outside our shop, making a scene. She wanted to talk to her employee, who actually isn't her employee anymore. DUH! Being the passive-aggressive person that I am, I hate confrontations so I was shaking on the way home. Well, Chongga has got some nerve talking about delicadeza... If she has some, she wouldn't put up a nail spa in the first place. Decided I wouldn't hire "her employee" just to avoid further disturbances that is Chongga in the future. Now I know I can have someone barred from entering the village, ha!

Sunday
Fiesta! Umm, not that I really care. Moving on. Started the day early cos I had to talk to the employee I wasn't hiring anymore and met with the pintor who will quasi-renovate our shop. Lunch at Wee Nam Kee in Ayala Triangle. Played with my adorable nephew :) Had mint chocolate ice cream. Oh joy!



While mostly everybody's going emo during the latter part of the year, usually I am during the first few months. So instead of September, I will be singing "Wake me up, when January ends..." Although next week will be less stressful cos we will be closed to renovate the shop. I will have more time to look for new nail techs. Hay ang hirap mag-diet nang hindi ka mentally-relaxed. I think I want to order McDo. So long, diet. I will see you when I'm in a more relaxed state of mind.

booktrack 2011-01: Uncle John's Ultimate Bathroom Reader

Yay! Finally done with my first book of the year.

Got this book from Book Sale, a steal at 235 bucks. I love trivia and just when I thought I will never ever get tired of it, I kind of did- trivia overload! Well maybe because there were some topics that I didn't find interesting like the American Bill of Rights, Miss America facts and the like. Some of my favorites are how certain brands got their names, origins of idioms, etc.

It was fun but also since I forgot to check which year this was printed (1996), there were a few trivia that I assume are already outdated and also find their speculations about the Year 2000 funny. Also, there were a lot of typos. Anyway, now that still was a lot of fun- me and my useless trivia ;)

Now, I can move on to my next read: Robert Fulghum's Uh-Oh: Some Observations from Both Sides of the Refrigerator Door

Wow, what a way to end the day! And that's a sarcastic wow, by the way. Though subconsciously, I was waiting for it to happen. I knew chongga wouldn't take this one sitting down. She is chongga after all. But after all is said and done even if we think that she still doesn't have the right to dictate to people where they can or cannot work, in the end I just don't want any fuss because of this situation. I'd rather live in peace, thank you. So let me.

They say bad things come in threes.

Nail techs Employees are acting up again. This aspect of business is what I hate most but I guess it comes with it. But really, would it really be much of a hassle for them to inform me ahead of time if they've found "greener pastures" so I could find their replacements? Honestly, I wouldn't get angry if they do. Well, yes I will get angry... for awhile... then reconcile with the fact that this thing happens. Come to think of it, this is way better than finding out you have some kind of terminal disease, right? It's just that it's hard to find good, skilled nail techs these days. I dunno...

Well, my tatsulok of worries are all business-related. First, it's the nail tech thing; Second, it's business permits and licenses renewal time and that just sucks because I would have to deal with long lines and power-tripping government employees. I mean, seriously, why do they make it hard for people to secure business permits? Don't they know that this country is running on SMEs? and; Third, my masseuse is also leaving. Good riddance, actually. The only thing I'm a bit spastic about this is I would have to train a new one and training someone isn't easy. I hope my trainee is a fast learner.

Parang laging pangit pasok ng taon sa akin? What is it with January? I can't wait for summer to come. I need to get a passport renewed so I can apply for a frickin' VISA because I wanna wanna wanna go to NY and see my sister again in the flesh and go on a GG tour my cousin said she'd give me. But even if I'm always on a slow and shitty start, it doesn't matter because my ends are always frickin' awesome! Okay na nga, I will not dwell on my problems. Instead, I will shut them out. I'll try... because they're really persistent. Clarification: I will not ignore these problems. They will be addressed in due time but I will not let them get the best of me. So no more furrowed brows, aye?
