Wedding Bellas

as in Bella Flores... kasi may mga nagsusungit. Nuninuninu...

This post was long overdue. Should have written about it when the memory was still fresh. Anyway, will try my very best to recall this very special event.

My sister and her boyfriend of 7 years got married last October 3, the day that Typhoon Pepeng was said to hit the city. The wedding was almost postponed since was just after the Ondoy event and now, Pepeng.

Before I go to the ending, let me tell first what has happened the week before. September 26, Saturday, flash flood hit the city faster than you can say BAHA! Fortunately, AD wasn't home when that happened or else it would have caused her great stress and with just a few days before her big day, bawal ma-stress. But I think she's still stressed thinking about our condition. She heard on the radio kasi that floodwater in some areas has reached the second level of homes, plus she doesn't have contact with us. We were all fine. Thankfully, we were all fine.

Floodwater subsided Monday morning, leaving behind total destruction downstairs with matching putik pa. Finally, AD was able to come home. She might have missed out on the flood experience but she wasn't able to escape the Major Clean Up Experience. Haha. Imagine, she was doing major floor-scrubbing and mop-wringing just days before her wedding. One of my sisters even said that we'd be the most dugyot entourage EVER. From Monday until Friday afternoon, we were busy cleaning. We were only able to go at Crowne Plaza Friday evening, where we said we'd do our last minute shoe-shopping and manipedi chuva. We may have a nail spa for a business but the place of business also got flooded and so we were closed for a good number of days, in other words hindi kami nakapagpa-maniped sa amin. And we just have to get our nails done especially after how many days of scrubbing mud off the floor and furniture, we must have accumulated enough dirt and mud under our nails to plant camote on. However, because of Pepeng, shops in Galle closed down early so ang ending, we didn't get our nails done. Only the bride got her maniped. Buti na lang she was able to get her nails cleaned. I just cleaned my own nails but stopped halfway through it because I managed to stab my little pinky with the pusher. But even if the past week was disastrous and very stressful, we still got through with it. Tuloy ang kasalan!

@ the Crowne Plaza, tumbling with glee
Finally, makakaligo at makakatulog
na ng maayos after 48 years...

To live up to the our family's tradition, we were late. Which is relatively okay basta the bride would arrive later than us. Just minutes before the start of the wedding, I found out I was re-assigned to be the veil proxy for my sister's friend who couldn't make it. Dang! And I thought I just have to walk down that aisle... I have to do something pa pala. I thought I would cry but I didn't. I got thisclose to crying but luckily, the tears never fell. I hate crying in public pa naman. The groom delivered a very nice vow. He cried. I almost cried because he cried. My sister's vow was impromptu. She forgot her prepared speech at home. Si Lola Gets talaga. Basta to cut the long ceremony short (actually, short na siya compared to other weddings), rings have been exchanged and man and woman took each other to be their lawfully wedded wife and husband, respectively.

It was already decided that only the church wedding will push through. As for the reception, it was rescheduled at a later date in consideration of the safety of the guests. Instead, a small salu-salo took place at a nearby pizza-pasta place.

Now, a week after the wedding, I still use just a half of the bed space. I got used to sharing that big bed with my sisters. Pero sabi nga ni AD, okay lang naman daw na half lang ang ma-occupy ko kasi kalahati naman daw ng kama eh tulugan, kalahati office. Judging from the way my bed looks right now, may tama siya.
